I remember listening to the original call and crying in my car. I never forgot the raw pain in Shah’s voice. My mother died in hospital last year and I thought that was the worst pain I could ever feel - but she died in a bed, with her family nearby. I’m not sure I could carry the grief of losing her like Shah lost his mother and aunt. Shah, you’re a credit to your family. They deserved so much better and I’m so sorry.
Austerity and neoliberalism have real consequences to real people. In savage capitalism, basic human decency becomes a product that only some can afford.
fiat finance and political weakness leads to all these misallocations, debts and deficits. Here we are. Andrew Jackson killed the 2nd bank after it expired....but the US Fed a century later has no expiry !
The dismissal of proven dangers by a certain individual in one of the two cladding manufacturers is WHERE LIABILITY lies. As was made clear in the R4 doc last week - to the effect of 'd'you think I give a flying f'.
But that capitalism for you. Everything is a commodity to capitalists. I get the need for money for commodities, but "profit at all costs" is how you make human rights and needs a commodity. Food isn't a commodity, but chocolate is, if you know what I mean.
Fiat finance, and resulting debts and deficits and political weakness results in ultimate failures. It is all part of the way the banking system works out...but not _really_ works.
There won't be any true justice for the victims. The developers, contractors and architects won't be held to account, the money men behind the scenes won't be held to account and you can be sure as sugar that no politicians will be held to account. The best we can do is carry on the fight, never stop talking about the victims and what they had to endure.
Shah's 2017 call to L.B.C about the death of his mother in the Grenfell Tower fire was truly heartbreaking, I listened to it being replayed on the L.B.C James o Brian radio show a few days ago with tears in my eyes.
14June 2017. Truly shocking night and days that followed. Gut wrenching reporting and coverage via LBC.😢Will any of the responsible corporate suits go to jail?
When profits are at the top of the tree, the little people are at the bottom. I very much doubt, am even sure, those responsible will not face any legal action; probably just some scapegoat the companies drag into the arena.
Say the word. Corruption is the word and London is the most corrupt city in the world. That's saying something but it's true and it helps to explain the utter shambles that exists in the UK. It will not change without some kind of revolution.
If the building in slough hadn't also caught fire a few weeks ago would this inquiry even have happened? Or were they scampering to find answers to display to the public before the public started asking real questions about the safety of buildings all around the UK? Now people aren't horrified about slough. They're not focused on those 300 residents that were displaced and put into the care of a council that is bankrupt. They're focused on a frankly underwhelming inquiry into Grenfell Tower tragedy.
James O"Brien: Speaks truth to power. Angela Rayner: Speaks in the service of power. Let's hope things improve. At least the sub-sub- sub -sub-contractors will be getting their come-uppence.
For anyone who read Das Kapital, the events in the UK will look strangely familiar because Marx wrote it in the UK 160 years ago and from the looks of it nothing has changed.
Imbecile asking for media companies including LBC to be banned and for the US to take over the UK to expel the "marxists"? We can see your other comments, you know.

Wrong. It’s not the system, it’s the culture. There’s a culture of wealth above human life. This is the mindset that the system was born out of.

Bless those peoples souls who died in Grenfell. Unimaginable. ❤
The selfish greedy individuals who are responsible for this preventable for atrocity need to be in jail. This was heartbreaking.

Heartbreaking

Criminal charges but not until the end of 2026, apparently. Why does it take so long.
got to give them time to escape
And offshore all thier Blood Money
Because it's rich, powerful people involved.
The criminal system is massively backed up from covid
They need to find someone else they can blame while the real culprits pulling the strings get a slap on the wrist.
Natural instinct is to get away from a fire and these helpless people were told to get back in.
Would I be correct in saying if the building had been evacuated when the fire brigade arrived no lives possibly would have been lost?.

By the sounds of it the only one gonna go to prison is the working class guy who lied about his fire safety experience
What we need is to take action words don't do anythink
why were they told to stay inside?
