A dream come true - Joni Mitchel's Asylum records released between 1972-1975 are released on a box set from Rhino records, including stereo, Atmos, and quadraphonic (!) mixes of For the Roses, Court and Spark, The Hissing of Summer Lawns, and her live record Miles of Aisles.
FTR has a new 4.0 channel mix, but the others reclaim lost mixes from five decades ago, finally now playable on modern systems!

I've got most Joni on hdcd and am happy with that played on my Denon hdcd player. But this sounds like a great buy for a 5.1 system.

It took you a while to get there but thanks for your insights, Jason. I still have a quad copy of *Dark Side* on a German LP. I had a cheap Sanyo 4-channel system in the '70's (SQ Logic) & the back to front separation wasn't very good. (Oddly, it seemed to work better with Ambisonics LPs in the '80's.) I see Rhino is having a sale so I'll probably get the box. I have a few quad Blurays & SACDs from Rhino, Vocalion & Audio Fidelity. Almost all of them sound very good on my 5-channel setup (no, my speakers are not all identical). "Gimmicky" mixes are surprisingly rare.
