    Thankyou for showing these issues ( Especially cracking open the new comics ) - I have often wondered about Doomsdays 1st appearences in the DC world -
    As it happens I was very ill through the 90s and my comic collecting took a back seat !

    Amazing ASMR video. Your ASMR tone, as always, amazing and this was a really interesting video hearing you talk about these historic titles.

    19:36 "If I depended solely on brawn, my crime fighting career wouldn't have lasted 20 minutes, Lex"
    Literally the entire reason people fear you, and the reason you win constantly, is because of your brawn. Don't act like you're some rocket scientist here, Clark 😏

    Who is your favorite comic book character of all time and who your least?

    • @chycho
      @chycho  7 років тому +2

      Aside from the Valiant universe, which I love, I would say my favorite comic book character from the mainstream would have to be Lobo. Love Lobo done right, and it's rare.
      As for my least, I'm not a fan of all the offshoots of all the main characters from the Marvel universe. I don't like all the Spider-verse characters or the gender changes.

    hello im new to comic books and im looking to start collecting, do I need to have read a lot of comics books to be able to read and undrstand the new ones ?? im not sure how to go about buying comics

    • @chycho
      @chycho  9 років тому

      +Luke Falcioni No you don't but you do have to make sure to pick-up a story arc from the beginning, i.e, sometimes individual comics are stand alone stories and sometimes they are part of a multi-part story being told over a few issues.
      One thing you could do is, if you want to pick up floppies (individual issues that usually come out monthly), is to talk to your local comic book shop and ask then where a good place would be to pick up a title. The other thing you could do is get into trade paperbacks that usually collect story arcs.
      Maybe I can make some recommendations, what are you interested in? Do you like a specific character? Do you like a specific genre?

    • @lukefalcioni258
      @lukefalcioni258 9 років тому

      +chycho Thank you so much for replying, I recently ordered 10 comic books off a website but they are chosen at random and im not sure if they are individual issues or apart of a multipart story like you were saying ( probably not the best way to start collecting). I did this because I wanted to start with something and im looking to get into multiple comics then just one kind. I will defiantly get input from my local comic book store. the comics I would be most interested would be xmen, avengers, deadpool, spiderman and daredevil (for marvel) and the flash, batman and justice league for DC( not limited to just these). I would appreciate recommendations for some of these if you wouldn't mind. I like your videos a lot comic books and asmr are a great combo.

      It would be my pleasure to recommend some reads for you:
      Daredevil: You want to read Frank Miller’s run, start with issue #168 and go at it all the way up to #233.
      Spider-man: Amazing Spider-Man #31-33, #121-122, #229-230, Kraven's Last Hunt (cross-over story arc), and #361-363 (I really like Carnage and in the next comic book reading videos we’ll take a look at this).
      X-Men: there is so much here… The Dark Phoenix Saga (#129-137), X-Cutioner's Song (it’s a cross over between multiple titles), Grant Morrison’s X-Men run, almost all of Chris Claremont’s X-Men which is a huge run, and if you like X-Men style story telling outside of the X-Men titles then try Excalibur (from the late 80’s early 90’s) as well as X-Factor from the same period.
      The Flash: I really like Wally West as the Flash, so I’ll recommend The Flash, Volume #2 that started in the late 80’s.
      Batman: oh my, so much to choose from… The Killing Joke, The Dark Knight Returns, “Joker” writer Brian Azzarello, Grant Morrison’s Batman stories, Knightfall, and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight series (I consider this series to be my to go to Batman read… I’ll be showing one of the stories arcs (#16 to #20) in the next reading session, I love this story arc and it’s connected to Bane).
      As for Avengers, Deadpool, and Justice League… I’m not well read in these titles for certain story arcs to stand out and I really can’t remember which ones I’ve read (I must be getting old), so I won’t recommend anything specific from here.

    A very important villain and some of the greatest comic art ever especially in superman issue 75. These issues should only go up in value over the coming years and decades.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  9 років тому

      ***** For sure I read newer comics. Right now I'm pulling all the Valiants, reading some of them. I'm reading Lobo (what can I say, I love Lobo, even the new one), I pull everything by Simon Bisley, also a handful of other: Deadly Class, The tower Chronicles, some Batman, and a few randoms.

    Question: is there any copyright legality here? I love these vids! this is just a question.

    • @chycho
      @chycho  9 років тому

      openboosters There shouldn't be. These videos are reviews and recommendations and a little preview really. To get the full picture/story you would have to get the books and read the whole arc.
      If there are any copyright issues here then there would have to be copyright issues with all reviews, which would be insane really, not that copyright laws are not insane, but anyone that had copyright issues with anything like this would be shooting themselves in the foot. It would mean that they don't want any type of review or recommendation of their books.
      That said, if any issues do come up I would just stop doing any reviews/readings/previews or recommendations of books from them and keep to Golden Age and Silver Age books that are now in the public domain. And there are some amazing books in the public domain, enough to keep me reading for decades :)

    • @chycho
      @chycho  9 років тому

      openboosters Oh ya, I forgot to mention the most important part, that these videos are meant to be educational. Taking a look at human history, human artifacts, with an ASMR slant of course :)

    I'd love if you did more of these videos where you read the arcs of comic books. They are great and soothing but you also as a viewer want to find out what happens.mthis one was brilliant.mhow can you top the death of superman. Could you do some great arcs from batman, Spider-Man or x men? It would be so amazing

    • @chycho
      @chycho  9 років тому +1

      TheRubberStudiosASMR Done deal. There are some amazing story arcs out there that i would love to make videos for.
      In the next set of readings, I promise to include at least one arc, possibly two, one from the big two publishers and one from another publisher (I've been thinking of doing Valiants 1990's Unity - I just loved).
