    I have many truckers, mostly Levi but also Lee, GWG, and a Japanese no name with a zipper. I love this style and it looks great on shorter people.

    I bought the Bronson repro if the Lee stormrider. It had a nice short length of 25 inches in the back. Perfect for high rise pants! I think the Lee storm rider, wrangler, and Levi’s type 1 are the best, in that order.

    Again, great show and video 😊 I must say that this man Mr. Paul’s partner here he knows his jackets just like Paul knows his motorcycles 👍😀 Ok, he looks good in all of his jackets but I must say as a compliment that wow Mr. Paul, he looks good in everything gosh, he got some style that I have never seen before 😂❤ Ok, these 2 Rock and Roll, I’m glad for them that they started to make these videos for folks to see and learn about ok, mostly what they talk about those special jackets. I wish, I had my good old so very special jackets I used to have as a kid back in Europe but ok it’s in the past but I did have some great jackets that would be worth a lot of money now but ok it is what it is. Nothing last forever as they say 😂 Keep making more great videos so we all can have a good day by learning a lot 👍😇✌️

    I was in between the cotton and sateen cowboy jackets as well for a whole year and then got to try them both on in store in LA during a work trip and fell in love with the sateen version: great choice! I ended up buying the cowboy jacket in a special indigo denim they had though (i didn’t have a good denim trucker in my collection but a lot of lighter color jackets already) but I still beat myself up sometimes for not getting the white sateen haha

    Vintage is trial and error... I think for trucker jackets it is still better than a new cardboard iron heart. Weird smells can be defeated with lots of washing, bleach, soaking... repairs can actually add to the look.

    Why do folks always get the front jacket pleats wrong? Nobody cut them out, they're just like the pleats on the front of pants, to give you a little extra give when you're moving around, the sewn tackdowns keep the pleats close to the body so they don't catch on anything,

      When the first Levi’s Type 1 was introduced in the early 1900’s, standard sizing as we know it today was not common for work wear. As referenced by Sam Trotman in “The History of The Denim Jacket”, there is some evidence of workers cutting the stitching from the pleats to expand the jacket, therefore allowing extra room for layering in colder weather.

    • @aceymac
      @aceymac 10 місяців тому

      @@themancaveclub what Trotman wrote is not what you said. If some kid listens to what you actually said and does that to his jacket, trying to be super traditional, I hope you have the balls to buy him a new one.

      I had a pair of gray Gap 1969 corduroy pants from the Goodwill Bins. Absolutely awesome pants, nice slim fit! Got about 5 years of use out of them. Got rid of them after the crotch gave out. Great pants for winter, very comfortable and warm, good size pockets as well!

    what do we call this genre of style that we're into? when anyone asks me i say -
    "Rugged heritage workwear with a touch of mid-century rock'n'roll"
    or something like that but its a bit of a mouthful, is there anything a bit snappier?

    I'm most interested with what pins people have on their jacket. I always have band pins on my jacket. Anyway, just go pick up a Levi's Type 3 denim jacket at Ross in the fall. You want the 100% cotton one, no spandex. They always have them. Nothing wrong with China made Levi's. I've had the same Levi's jacket from Ross for 7 years, never washed, no issues. Buffalo Exchange always has some, last time they had one for $22, good deal. Last Ross ones I saw were $32 and were Dark Wash and Medium Wash, they almost look the same. I've had Big E vintage Levi's jackets from thrifting and still own some, they are nice, but modern Levi's is fine. Had Lee and Wrangler jackets as well, but got rid of them. Some jackets just fit better. Modern size Small Wrangler jacket I tried fit absolutely hide and I'm a usually a Medium. Also had some old department store denim jackets from the 1960's and 1970's, which aren't always the best, thin fabric or weird fits, but have cool tags. Type 3 is too common a style to pay big bucks for and I feel that people that talk about wear aren't going to wear stuff enough to see any change. You can't own 11+ new denim jackets and expect to see change.

    • @themancaveclub
      @themancaveclub  10 місяців тому

      Definitely! You make some good points. I also have a really nice Levi’s T3, it’s one of my “go to” jackets. I just didn’t wear it for this episode, because we wanted highlight more unusual versions.

    Only type 2 that matters is the visvim 101 (or 101xx if you desire oversized). Nothing else compares in terms of fit and quality of denim in my opinion, and I've almost owned everything out there.
