This brings back such good memories. This used to be one my favorite parts of the service. It was always such an anointing flowing through the church when this song was sung. I truly miss these days.
He was a genius! Rev. Dr. Vails was one of the greatest teachers and directors. He stands beside Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, Thomas Whitfield, Rev. James Cleveland, and a very few others. He was a master pianist and organist; both Multi-Tier Pipe Organ, and Hammond Organ. I miss him😢; but I praise GOD that I know he now sings and plays for the “Everlasting Father” and the “Great Director of our Faith!”
That truly was a marvelous time -- with Donald Vails and truly a "mass" choir. Haven't experienced it again since. RIP my brother...I wonder if he and Janine are hanging out again...
I offhandedly made a similar comment to someone who attended one of those newer style churches and they were deeply offended. I felt bad but I also felt like I was right sooooo I was kinda stuck😬. I just don’t say anything abt it anymore but I do really miss these kind of church days.
@@HopeAndrea_HFG Too bad they were offended - paper-thin Christians. We're supposed to be soldiers in the army of the Lord. These new "Christians" concern me.
@@pantonpam8024 - the camera was too shaky to get an accurate count, but I counted around 350 - 375 choir members (possibly 400). A choir director's paradise!!
Donald Vails at his best. Awesome choir.
Those were the days. Rev Vails was truly an anointed musician and man of God. RIP - I truly do miss your leadership.

the pipes on the organ is not there but the organ counsel there.
what a "mass choir"...today it's probably just a "praise team" - sign of the times...
socalmusiclovr no it's not. It's still a big choir. Hook up Ebenezer AME Choir. They're now under the leadership of Dr. Ricky Dillard
you can tell Rev Vails was influenced by his mentor Dr. Mattie moss Clark.
