im so glad you got into the idea of hopping a chatterbait, i have caught some absolute donkeys in the dead middle of winter with ice forming on the ponds by hopping one with a subtle trailer, or a ragecraw without separating the claws.. they smack the life out of it even when its 30 degress out.
New to bass fishing and this past Sunday got a 3.25 lb largemouth on a chatter bait in the neighborhood pond here in the Tampa area...even with the swim bait on right side up! Just changed the swim bait to upside down per this video and pulled it through the pool and can tell the action is much better. Will throw in the pond in a few hours as it gets closer to dusk...thank you for these great videos! I watch you guys every couple of days, and these videos have been really helpful...I definitely have caught the bass fishing bug!
I really enjoy watching all your videos as a retired disabled vet and a kayak fisherman I have learned a lot from you guys if you guys are ever in Georgia or northern Florida I would love to hook up and learn more from you thank you for all your videos and all your info
Man I run that same 4" zako on a firecraw jackhammer. I SLAYED the bass in my recent video from a few weeks ago! Big props to tactical bassin for spreading the word on this perfect duo 👏
Thanks for the information on chatter bait. This was very informative. You answered a lot of my questions for fishing a chatter bait. I was lost on how to fish it.
I watched y’alls chatter bait video last year and went out a bought the jack hammer and the trailers y’all recommended and absolutely smashed some fish with them.
Tim thank you for the tip to put the swimbait trailer upside down on the chatterbait! Just got back from a club tournament and crushed it using your tips. Had a 20 pound bag with a 7 lb kicker.
I went from never having caught a fish on a chatterbait 2 years ago to now having 1 tied on 365 and having 100% confidence in it. But I also throw the spinnerbait just as much and here in OK this time of year throwing both is a must. Any given day one will produce better quality over the other.
Congrats you two!!!!! What I don’t understand is why you aren’t at 700k. I don’t need Bass U, I’ve always have what I’m looking for on your archives!!!!!
Congrats on 400,000 subscribers. You guys work hard for sure and you have earned it. I am a budget fisherman and I try to keep your equipment recommendations in my mind when I am looking for tackle but sometimes compromises have to be made. Keep up the good work.
I too am a bank fisherman and I think you could put a little spin on the video and mention again that those ponds and darker water smaller bodies of water warm up faster and if guys don’t want to wait for the reservoir to warm up they can throw their money and see man and Crash the gated community with the perfect pond fishing
I have a tackle box full of chatterbaits but they've never been fished because I have zero confidence in them. This is the year where I throw the crap out of them and see what I've been missing. Thanks for the tips!
@Tactical Bassin - Tim/Matt, thank you for the ongoing tips & tricks. I threw a chatterbait for the first time-ever on a warm, windy day from the bank in South San Jose (Calero Reservoir). I caught one 2lber in 2hrs which is better than the boats were doing...thanks again! (green pumpkin Zman custom + spunk shad) 🎣👍
Geez that rod and reel is the exact same setup I use with my chatterbaits. Havent caught a lot of fish with it but the ones I have I have fell in love with the setup
the custom is the only one i use it vibrates as soon as you start to reel and vibrates very good and stays down in water column well , have variety of colors and sizes for the money it's worth $7 verses $16 for the jack hammer , thank you guys for all the informative vids
Chatterbait is my all time favorite bait! Tbh, it's refreshing to hear you say the original. Everyone else says you have to use the Jackhammer or Thunder Cricket. I just recently got a few thunder crickets, they're nice. I haven't caught anything with one yet but I've crushed them on rage blades and the chatterbait.
Chatterbait has become my new favorite lure. I have it my arsenal for a while but never caught anything on it till this year. I’m have success using it with my Powell 7”11 Heavy crankin rod.
two years ago i had the idea of cutting the tail off of a 4.3 regular swing impact, most insane action along with a bunch of 4lb and 5lb bass, ive also started using picasso's new shock blade, and its the real deal. both picasso and the jackhammer have slayed the bass for me the past two years
Thanks for this, I love chatterbaits and think they are awesome but haven't had a ton of success with them and I think this has shown me a lot of what i've been doing wrong and given me some new things to try!
i have encountered great success so far this year using a 7'3" heavy composite moderate rod, 7:2 gr reel laced with 30lb power pro to 15lb sunline assassin tied onto the crappiest chatterbait to the best in several colors. wont go anywhere without it.
@@FishYourHeartOut Yeah, I was raised here but in very very rural CA. The politics suck but I don't have to deal with all that up in the Northern MTS. Just great hunting and fishing without the crowds. 😊👍
Here in Oregon we have a reservoir called craine prairie and the water visibility is usually between 15-25 feet and the white chatter bait is dynamite. Not sure why but I'm guessing it has something to do with the hatch they are feeding on. There's catfish, bluegill, stickle backs, and trout. Just goes to show, don't limit yourself to specific colors in certain water clarity.
Thanks for the tip about using a swim bait upside-down 👍 been using chatterbait lures for years my mistake was using the white too much but it Really worked great when it first came out shout out to Larry Dalburg 👏 my favorite color is now the spot remover.
8:20 this is why this bait is in my top 3 as a bank angler. It is the most productive bait I think I've ever used and it works from March to October. A lipless crank and a jig-head swimbait are great too, but the chatterbait can catch them in any body of water in almost any condition, if they're active. Edit: one tip on the retrieve topic, don't just chuck and wind, give it rod twitches and do it sporadically. Reel for a couple seconds, twitch, reel for a few more, 2 subtle twitches. And change directions when reeling it in. All those things really trigger fish to bite when they're following and being iffy about eating it.
I started using them when they came out. A lot of people tried them and didn’t like them. The first models were better than the recent models. Bigger blade and more thump. They also made an oversized model that was killer in deeper water in the winter.
Anyone who fishes Harris/Jordan lake in NC needs to be using these. The bass and the bowfin love them. In 15 minutes I caught an 8,6,5 and 4 lb bass. 20 minutes later I caught my first bowfin.
Love the video Matt as always great presentation 👍🏿. I do have one suggestion for anglers do not use a craw style presentation with the stealth blade its not meant for that the craw does not move well with it. The stealth blade isn't meant for the hard thumping action and kick its a Suttle approach best craw style profile I have used is a OSP action trailer works really well and mimics both bait fish and craw.
Guess I'm going to break down and get a jack hammer zman does start late I fish lakes in NJ that is mostly wood cover missed alot of fish last year ! Zman file your hook helped me alot to catch short bites
I just wanted to say thank you for all the great information you guys put out each week. I live in Louisville Kentucky and on New Year’s Day this year I caught my PB of 8.6 pounds. I was able to catch the bass because of the knowledge I gained watching you guys 3 times a week. I caught it from a subdivision pond so it just goes to show that all the things you teach work wherever you fish. Thank you again
Need some help! Recently spooled up a reel for some swimbaits (not huge) and I run braid to floro leader. I spooled the backing with some old mono and then the braid. Well I didn’t put enough braid and when I cast I’m almost out of braid. Do I use some old same size braid and use connect it between the original braid and the mono backing or just deal with it?
Thanks for the excellent explanation!!! I will try his lures for some fish I’m Brazil like traíras and peacock bass!!!! If Spinner baits works, Chatter-baits will works too!!!!
Brett hite always throws it on the flouro carbon and moderate action heavy glass rod. Whether he’s fishing deep or shallow it’s the same. I like the heavy glass rod with braid. I rarely fish a chatterbait in water clear enough to need flouro but when I do I put on a 6’ 20lbs flouro leader.
awesome video! very helpful! i chatterbait fish a lot and i love the fire craw colors! i got a chatterbait elite from z man fire craw color 1/2 ounce chatterbait tied on right now! Its the best!!!
I personally have the edge jig box and when you flip them over they slide up and down they get all disorganized (Especially for jigs and chatter bait 3/8 to 1/2oz). I would recommend just a regular Plano box and separate them out by color. If you use jigs normally bigger than a 1/2 oz they work great because they can get fit and not jiggle due to the bigger head size. Hope this helps
Plano’s spinner bait box is horrible for spinnerbaits, but awesome for chatterbaits. The neck of the bait fits perfect into the dividers, keeping them separated and straight.
What do you guys think of the advantage baits jawbreaker? It's my go to when fishing bladed jigs. 11$ price range. Not easy on the pockets but not hard on them either.
Dang bass ripped my chatterbait str8 off on 30lb braid with mono leader it hit I missed. Hit again bait gwone!! It was green pumpkin with purple flakes with green red flake craw trailer !!! Love the strikes bass give on em!

Hey Tim. So here in new jersey we have 50 degree weather in the afternoon and 32 degree in the mornings. Will this activate the agressive traits in the bass or does the morning/night time temps have to be warm as well and be synced together or close thanks
