When You Refuse To Criticize LeBron (And Get Rewarded)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- JJ Reddick has openly refused to criticize LeBron James in a recent appearance on ESPN's First Take. Rob Parker was one of the strongest critics of this move, saying it is lazy journalism. It was a display of lazy journalism from the likes I hadn't seen in the NBA world. Reddick, instead of just calling out the Los Angeles Lakers' fault, wanted to make it a point that LeBron ought to be celebrated. Celebrated as though it mattered not the things LeBron did wrong, nor what the Lakers as a team does wrong.

Love your videos, as you know from previous comments. Not sure I agree with the premise here not that anyone shd care lol.
Does anyone other than Rob “Moderate Take” Parker really care what JJ says? He’s an out-and-out shill for current NBA players which is why his Zion/CJ comments last season were so refreshing (although I expect that was simply an instance of Duke Superiority Complex at work).
Keep up the excellent work! Loving the more frequent, shorter videos (but please don’t totally abandon the longer pieces if at all possible - I can’t begin to imagine how much more work they involve but imho they are masterpieces) 🙏🏾
Honestly, it makes me happy that you can enjoy the video despite not agreeing with my premise. The problem with shorter vids is that I go into it thinking very fast so at times the logic can be faulty. I'm currently struggling with finding topics to talk about that people want to watch without sounding too repetitive. Thankfully the NBA season is a long one & I can take my time now
@@tooforwon241 imho that’s what the best content - i.e. content like yours - is able to achieve. Please just keep doing what you are doing. As you can see from the comments you have a mini-army of loyal supporters. I don’t find your content remotely repetitive - you have the wonderful and unique ability to speak to anything NBA-related with your own voice. People crave authenticity and you have it in bucketloads ps Have you ever considered delving into the archives to re-explore/rethink some of the older NBA stories? E.g. I’m sure that an ongoing/occasional series from you on historical NBA beefs looked at from today’s perspective and knowing what we know now would be absolute gold dust in my view. Or even retelling a story like Mark Jackson’s exit from the Warriors. Stuff like that which doesn’t really get a detailed look these days. Just a random thought… I should probably mind my own business tbh lol. Peace 🙏🏾

JJ: "Lebrons farts inspired me to play harder....I carry this headband of his to remind myself that I'm more than a basketball player"
I don't rely on ESPN for anything subjective anymore, all of their NBA takes sound like they're made by an AI to get the most clicks and views they can possibly get. I'd rather listen to podcasts from non-media people because they don't have an incentive to defend players
Don’t think anyone watched ESPN outside of car dealerships and apartment lobbies
LeStatpad is the most overrated player in sports history. It's embarrassing how just a sliver of criticism after 20 years of insane media praise gets actual billionaires butthurt.
LeBron told us he's "more than an athlete".

What's infuriating is seeing LeBron given easy points and open lanes to the basket toward the end of games during blowouts before he gets benched. Free points for LeBron

Rob Parker went in on him. Seriously. Granted it was a horrible take.

Espn lives of hot takes and youtubers make videos out of it. Its the only way they can keep their business afloat. It is baffling how both parties tries to make us believe one is stupid and the others are smart. It WWE all over it. Channel by channel I keep unsubscribing because it is getting old at this point. Where are the analysts? If we believe their content is crap, why are we caring so much for it?
Awesome analysis bro! Keep up the good work
Nah JJ cleared this up
I'm an old head who grew up with MJ, so I might not see things the way Gen Z does, but I agree with JJ Reddick. Everyone knows the Lakers won't win the West so why not celebrate greatness? Why not support LeBron breaking all-time NBA records this yr? 20 yrs on top of any sport is huge.
Yeah let's celebrate not getting past R1 in 3 of 4 seasons here. And it's about to become 4 out of 5. Real praise-worthy, riiight.
He can go back to Cleveland for his retirement tour, it isn't a Laker fan's responsibility to pay for it.

JJ is alright. He got the words and looks good on TV. I would never watch those old guys yelling. I'm 45=old guy, and all the good news came from youth...
The internet scrutinizes and WORSHIPS you also. You have to weigh the good and the bad of the net. People only want to take the bad of random fan criticism. Bron gets paid millions every tweet and post. His children also are being paid just for that post. So you really think the criticism puts pressureon him? HELLLLLLLL NO!
Bron also was around before the net blew up. He an old head his damn self now. Bron knows both sides very well and is smart in using these narratives to drive his brand.
first
Legend
JJ literally hosts a podcast where he interviews current players. He will never critique any player with that obvious conflict of interest.
"Shut up, Malika Andrews, and listen to former players"
Its smart. Talk about now. Why keep bringing up history. The eras are all different.
Excellent point about Kobe dealing with way more slander and less praise in his career. I’d love to watch a video on that. And I think Jordan would’ve played a lot longer in this generation and better. The nba twitter keyboard warriors, UA-camrs, and personalities like nick wright and Shannon sharpe would provide daily fuel for his pettiness. “It became personal with me…” every fucking day would be personal with him
Are u series right now Lebron has a man name Skip bayless who makes it his job to shit on the man. Kobe or Jordan never had that constantly on his dick.
@@maisonmargielademon2915 let’s not compare Jordan and lebron because they didn’t play in the same era at all. Kobe competed in the same era as lebron for a good part of his career when he was healthy. Kobe was criticized for being carried by shaq(which if you watched the play offs then you’d know is a joke), Kobe also got criticism for the Colorado trial(which many believe cost him more MVPs), then there’s also the fact that Kobe got criticized for his play. He’s too selfish cause he shoots too much, then he gives up if he tries to be a facilitator. When he lost in 2004 it was all his fault. Even though he was traveling constantly to Colorado for his trial and then flying into games late to play basketball. Many players wouldn’t have been all stars if they had all of that to deal with. In 2008 he lost to a Celtics team with 3 top 75 players and 4 total hall of famers, with one of the best perimeter defenders in the league in Tony Allen. While getting pau gasol at the trade deadline. Pau didn’t even get a full off season or season to learn the complex triangle offense and build chemistry and mental toughness with his teammates. Bynum was also hurt. The lakers were out matched physically and mentally but Kobe was still clearly the best player in the series and the Celtics treated him that way with constant doubles. Still, the we’re no excuses for not winning and Kobe never made excuses. “Kobe can’t do it without shaq”. If lebron was in that situation the media would defend him him stop besides skip bayless and rob Parker, everyone else would defend him and lebron would make excuses. No one defended Kobe and Kobe didn’t defend himself. He always said, “I should have 7 rings”.
@@derekdominguez2068 I see nothing but facts 💯 Good comment brotha 👍
Lakers and Espn really pushing for that all time scoring record. No championship expectations just pushing a LeBron agenda, don't even matter if they make the playoffs.
Then, now, forever.
But I'm the bad guy for never liking him...
I mean JJ is a charismatic guy. Thanks to that 95% of the thinks he says will be accepted while Perk through the way he communicates can rub some people the wrong way. JJ just doesnt have that, I dont really know how to explain it otherwise.
PS: Also JJ doesnt really criticize anyone but Oldheads that helps.
ESPN does the same thing as WWE. They have heels and faces. It's all a big act, it's not like these guys get on camera for the biggest sports channel in the world and just talk about anything, they have everything scripted beforehand
JJ has good basketball takes most of the time but like any analyst they'll either be wrong or say something stupid occasionally lol
These players do not fear LeBron. They're saying that now because they hear about how former players talk about Jordan and there is the constant comparison. The players who are saying this are LeBron fanboys like Perkins and Reddick. Both are probably on the Klutch Sports payroll. Draymond
Green called LeBron a b!tch to his face. How is that fear?

To be honest I don’t think JJ’s that far off the mark when the only other thing you can say about the Lakers is “They suck” for the rest of the season. The roster as constructed cannot compete so unless they make a trade, what is there to talk about?
ALL LAKERS ALL THE TIME!!!
30 teams
400 teams
"Most talent than at any point in history"
"Non playoff team dominates convo" - 3rd video in my feed on LAL in 3 days (this, LOW, Bsolz)
But I sample "Summer Madness" by Kool and the Gang a lot. So we all have our "easy win" content
Other teams
Also, can someone tell me why the lakers sucking ass is lebron’s fault? He’s putting up great numbers so far at age 38, i dont see why he should get the blame since he did his job.
And what he said in that press conference was 1000% right, the team fucking stinks now and it aint his fault that it does
He built the team
Bro I love your content but you’re going down the McContent route IMO, lots of clickbait, low-effort stuff. I enjoy your deep dives into basketball/NBA, hope you’ll make more of that stuff.
My man..
You can’t be using Rob Parker quotes to add validity to anything. Dudes beyond a hot take artist. Watch him talk about Matt Stafford last season, even after he won the super bowl. Lebron is an over protected baby, but don’t stoop to Rob Parker quotes to make that point. He’s a stubborn bum.
Stephen A is right though. He is for sure respected but he really isn’t feared. Look at this history. The Celtics outside of Perkins were basically pushing him off (they did lose to him eventually) kawhi Leonard and the spurs weren’t too scared, the warriors really weren’t ever scared especially when you look at draymond and iggy, KD wasn’t even scared, grizzlies aren’t currently scared, suns aren’t, the clippers aren’t, Giannis isn’t. He’s still an all time great, but kobe and MJ put that fear in you, nobody was stepping up to them and laughing at them or taunting them without consequence.
When I heard JJ, I was flabbergasted, Thank you for pointing
JJ is right... what's the point of crying about the same things night in night out... Lakers are clearly trash
I think u missed the point JJ. The lakers suck and only thing that is good is Bron coming close to being the NBA all time scorer. I also think your wrong about him not getting enough criticism. The whole internet are hate watching that man ready for him to fail an slander him. That’s why Lebron was so shocked when JJ complemented him. Usually the media says he not clutch, no one is scared of him. He’s not a good leader, he’s Legm. Y’all see a couple of Lebron meat riders and try to make that the majority of the masses which just is not true.
Tf world are you living in? The media constantly praises Lebron. When the Lakers lose it's never Lebron's fault and always his teammates fault. Whenever the Lakers lose in the playoffs it's "Bron has an injury" but when they win the injury is never spoken about. Kendrick Perkins, Nick Wright, JJ Redick, countless other espn employees all praise Lebron no matter what he does.
Fuck it, what’s everyone’s Top 10 NBA mascots? That’s the REAL GOAT debate there.

Whenever a player says “well I played the game”, everyone goes like a cat with it’s neck grabbed. 😂
I mean it’s supposed to be an unbeatable record and it’s obvious nearing the end for the man’s career as a hands down top 2 player of all time I think it’s justified.
I think Jordan deserved all that celebration he got too when he was getting out and hitting his last records.
When they are doing things we might not see for another 10,20,30 years I think they have all the right.
It also doesn’t help I’ve always been a fan of Jj mj and bron so I rly don’t see why the reporters can’t just be on their nuts some days when they were the guys getting slapped around like baby turkeys on thanksgiving by them
JJ is a smart dude. He knows what to say that will benefit his new career.
if lebron happens to be competitive and he wins another chip, IT DOESNT MATTER y’all not going to change your goat argument so why criticize a top 2 player in the last years of his career, acknowledge greatness when it right infront of u

MJ was a gangster. Kobe definitely had that gangster side to him. By gangster I mean like mobster - that if you messed with MJ you would feel like you’d just offended Michael from the Godfather.
Lebron just isn’t like that. His game is just as good as MJ no doubt. But Lebron dances around on videos singing “Taco Tuesday” with his family. Is it wholesome ? Yeah for sure Lebron is a real man for sticking with his high school sweetheart and raising his family (legit he should be commended for it). But is that scary? No.
You can’t be the wholesome, funny family man and Michael from the Godfather. MJ chose his route and Lebron his. Neither is better than the other in essence - it’s just who they are
Most of the media is like this. Praising Lebron when he's been extremely lazy on defense. There are countless clips on youtube of Lebron crying to the refs and never gets across half court on defense because he quits. I've never seen a NBA player stand around as much as Lebron has the last 4 seasons. It's ridiculous.
Lebron James queen of excuses with no accountability!!
I don't believe the best players in the NBA feared LBJ. The Raptors didn't have anybody phenomenal on their team. I think what Steven A ment was that the best players didn't fear LBJ. MJ had MVP caliber players, HOF, Top 75 players afraid to look him in his eyes. Kobe had players up all night wondering how to run him off his spots. LBJ is great and I think players locked in more against him but fear no, I don't think KG, Paul Peirce, and Ray Ray feared him! They just understood he was great. Also we can't trust nothing KP say he in LBJ inner circle he tries to boost LBJ all the time. That's not a knock on LBJ I just think when he moved to Miami a lot of players saw that as weak so LBJ wasn't so scary to the players, it was those 3 players together that scared them. Also your fear as a fan has nothing to do with the players I had LA fans tell me they were scared to see LBJ go against Kobe in the finals but I guarantee Kobe was not worried. Also watching LBJ quit in mutiple series throughout his career makes him look soft to the best players in the NBA.
