Unlike most BM bands these guys try to sound unique each record, didnt make the trve kvlt crowd happy hahaha. alaways respected bands /musicians who record what they feel and not what entitled hordes want to hear. Very underrated record among few of theirs.
It`s pretty much the Mayhem version of "And justice for all". Albeit with a bass track that is still there. Musically though, it`s an album that is meant to be played from Alpha to Omega. I.E no "hit songs" which may have rubbed some fans the wrong way. But the album as a whole - and listened to as such - if phenomenal.
@@kegsen9770 totally agree with you, and such a good comparison since I really like AJFA. And I noticed I only ever listened to this album as whole from the 1st song to the last maybe that also played a part on why I liked it? And also I didn't enjoy it as much when I only play one track from it. It's definitely a mood to get in on it.
There are parts of this album I don't like much - not big on the spoken word vocals and Nihil Part 2 is awful - but the actual composition on this album is excellent. There's lots of layers and details to the guitar parts that give it such a unique feel.
People crack me up with that poser "it was only good with dead" shit. Hey did make a huge impact on everything in the beginning but Atilla is light years beyond.. And the music they made with Maniac is just so much better
@@livingbeing1113 Hahaha...I guess they're "Easter eggs". I've been noticing it for several years. It's nice to hear some metal influences. It's like, we're always here! Lol
Same ending riff used in the intro here. Basically both records are part of a single concept, Wolf's Lair Abyss being the past while Grand Declaration Of War is the present and future. Mayhem at their very best, miss those days.
Wow.. I never thought Tiktoc had the ability to actually do something good for the world.. Usually it's all just a load of embarrassing shite. But if it's lead someone to listening to Mayhem? Then that's pretty awesome.
@@cookiesontoast9981 I'm really afraid to upset you, but Black metal has become mainstream because of tik tok. The little girls in Tik Tok are obsessed with dead from Mayhem because he is 'cute' and because of him they started listening to black metal, cuz they say its edgy, informal, gothic. Also I forgot to say that 99% of tik tok "black metal" community learned about black metal after they watched lords of chaos movie
@@aleshka00076 Well it doesn't upset me, but it is pretty eye rolling.. As a big black metal fan even I don't obsess over Dead, he was a weirdo, more bothered about his art than the person himself. But it honestly doesn't surprise me, teenage girls always get obsessed over stupid shit for a few months and then forget about it. They're very shallow.
0:25 This riff can split the sky, dope!
I still remember listening to this album with my best friend for the first time. It was an experience, surreal. 🖤🤘
[Verse 1]
Christendom
Religion of pity
God of the sick
We have discovered our way
We know the road
We have found the way
Out of millennia of labyrinth
Beyond the north
Beyond the ice
Beyond death
There was a thunderstorm in our air
The nature which we are grew dark
All that proceeds from weakness we loathe
We declare not peace but war
[Verse 2]
We shall be unleashed now
From darkness we create light
Beware decaying humans
For we shall destroy
We are the way of millenniums to come
Friedrich Nietzsche. The Antichrist. Read it.
Blasphemer and Maniac avant-garde era, Mayhem at their best.
This is Masterpiece
All Mayhem is their best

This record and Chimera are absolutely my top Mayhem
Mayhem reached their peak on Chimera.
By far the best Mayhem album
I LOVE Mayhem. Just did a tattoo of their logo🤘
Got one too! I did it back in 2000/2001 when i was 13-14.

This is getting way to much hate while being good, this album is underrated, it isn't Mayhem at their prime but still a great band

It is their prime, imo. The Blasphemer and Maniac era was the best musically.

Loving God doesn't really go against Mayhem though, if you're wise enough to notice.

Ever notice that The Walking Dead intro sounds awfully similar to this intro?
Oh shit you're right! I also remember hearing a track from a movie that sounded exactly like the main riff from De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

Listen to the albums back to back. They flow into eachother. Wolfs lair abyss and gdow should almost be considered together.
