The Scarlet Letter is used in Canadian university senior-level American Lit courses, if you didn't already know. The idea that teenagers in the US are learning this is pretty impressive. I like your passion for both your students and the books that you read. Thanks for providing this discussion of the text.
Hi I was wondering if you can help me come up with a thesis statement. I have to analyze Hester, Dimmsedale, Chillingworth, and Pearl’s actions, personalities, motivations, desires, but I don’t know how to start.
All four? That’s a lot of content to cover. How long is your paper? Sounds like your focus is already developed for you, though. Pick a topic that covers all of this (such as how characters’ understanding of themselves is developed and influenced by their response to shame). Then, make it an argument. I have a video over how to develop a thesis if you’re interested. Good luck.
Wow, that's really condescending. You realize that there are more editions of this book than I can count, each paginated differently, so it would be pointless to include page numbers when each of my viewers has a different copy, not to mention the endless list of public domain online versions of this book. I rarely use the same copy each time I teach it, so it's not even useful for me, much less my audience. If I were to write a formal essay on the book, yes, that would be necessary, but in this format, it would be a waste of time.
@@Nancenotes Oh-I was writing an essay for English about symbolism with Pearl and your video helped me. It took awhile for me to find the pages of the quotes though so I just added that comment. It was just a suggestion. I ain't try to be condescending. Also didn't expect a paragraph answer. But okay.

As a teen having to read this book over summer break... I hate it
@@sophisticatedL0L I didn't like it that much myself, but it does have some peculiar twists and turns. Worth discussing, not much fun to read, ha ha.
Duuude! I love this! I read Scarlett Letter in 10th grade, and I don't think I really appreciated it. Love your videos!
Thank you! I didn't appreciate it as much as I ought when I read it in high school either. It gets better each reread!
this video has even helped me as a college student
u saved my life on the ap test bro
You are doing gods work
That’s what they said about Dimmesdale…
Such a nice explaination. I truely loved it. Great analysis 💫💫💫
Please come back soon I want to learn about Hester!
thank you so much or your videos. i was wondering if you could do some others for "the Book Theif" plaese?
Thanks for your interest. Maybe someday in the future. I'm kind of overextended right now.
ok thank you
Hawthorne dismisses Pearl off to some vague success in Europe. Should’ve written that story.
I might pass 10th grade
You should. 11th is much better.
Tim Nance yea... no it’s not😂

@@Nancenotes Thank you! Will you be doing an Analysis of Hester and Dimmesdale?
Not right now, but you can find all my thoughts on their characters in the video notes I have over the whole book.
where can I find the rest of the videos? Hester's and Dimmesdale's videos are not here .
They're coming. Hester's probably this week and Dimmesdale's next week.
ok . Thanks for your efforts .
Video is valid but it'd be more valid if you added what page numbers you're reading your quotes from.
