Reminds me of my parents who moved out of Japan between the 40s and 50s, so they missed the natural evolution of the Japanese language and lack most of the English words that were absorbed into it after the USA occupation of Japan. Those in my family who have never lived or moved back to Japan sometimes use old-fashioned words mashed with terms from different dialects that were absorbed from the settlers of other regions of Japan who lived nearby. My father can only read Japanese because mangas would arrive once per month by ship with other Japanese goods.
