Great game. Hats off to Alajuelense for putting up a hell of a fight, and their home crowd was some of the most intimidating I've ever seen when the players walked on the pitch. Glad an MLS team is making it, but I'm also happy to see Costa Rica start to rise up as a CONCACAF powerhouse.
Alejuensa are some of the most rude and gross fans I've ever seen. They threw coins at the Impact goal keeper, and Dominic Oduro was under lots of racial abuse while there.
Tsukihi Araragi "Im glad MLS is making but im happy to see Costa Rica start to rise up"?Dude you know what Costa Rica has more CCL trophies than MLS right?MLS is the league that needs to catch up to Costa Rica and then Mexico if they want to be the best here.
Michelle Ramirez Don't ever generalize. Some of the fans got definitely out of their minds when they were losing, however, not all of us responded in such a bad way. The deal with Oduro was that he touched his genitals while looking at the people and some people with existential problems started making those noises. I feel ashamed but we can't control everyones' decisions. So, FYI, we aren't either rude nor gross at all. We're very passionate fans with some bastards included, unfortunately.
As a WhiteCaps fan, i want to congratulate the Montreal Impact on their series win! This is pretty awesome, that a Canadian team will be in the final! I will be cheering for you guys!
As a Costa Rican who supports Alajuelense I want to congratulate Montreal Impact, we tied 4-4 :D, but the rules are goals away win. Good Match people... PD: Racism sucks.
Oh man I wanted the game to end already when Alajuelense scored 2 goals in the second half, I almost died watching this game, it felt like this game lasted for 3 hours! Lets go Montreal I will be rooting for you in the final!
***** North America Kimosabi??,,,,ok that will be Mexico,US,and Canada,,,,not so,,you meant the US ,,theres a lot Americanistas in the US ,Canada,, South and Central America so pretty much will kinda even out,,maybe America will have more rootin,,,great Final,,of course I am rootin for America,,,,
I am Brazilian and since 2011 I love the MLS, root for Philadelphia Union in MLS. I'm rooting for the Montreal Impact in CONCACAF. Now the Montreal have to greatly improve your game.
z̸օʍɓieгo̸ach メ Football in Brazil is crap and full of prejudice. In league Brazil can only win teams in the Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with the help of the judge.
Jesa l So what ? We don't have a lot of teams, so of course we play in the MLS, we need competition, look at the geography of Canada. Only 5 majors cities from west to east. It's like the NHL, a North American league.
Sébastien Auger If a Canadá team is a great team what can win the concachampions, Canadá maybe can be a great country in football where can have a league where have a great teams :)
+Jesa l Canada does not have big enough interest in soccer in enough cities, nor do they have enough big cities, to have a successful professional league. Canada and the US have traditionally formed their professional leagues together (NHL, MLS, MLB and NBA.) Only exception is American Football, because the CFL has been around for I believe over 100 years now.
Wonderful game by both teams and one of the most rollercoaster games Ive ever seen. That being said, and I hate to be sour, but remember the Alajuelense fans who talked shit about MLS after the quarterfinal? Oops...... xD
I still think MLS is not a great league, is not bad but not great.... and the proof of that is that you can only win if you use cold weather against central american teams, for example DC United lost 5-2 against Alajuelense but they played Alajuelense in a very cold weather and they still haven't got the result that they needed, Montreal came to CR and lost 4-2.... they didn't win either the quarterfinal and the semifinal, they draw both but qualified because of the away goals rule...
Esteban Solis Montreal played at Olympic stadium, is actually indoors and has heating. Also, we are not very used to it either, as MLS season is in summer, so most of the season is actually warm/hot. Keep in mind, our fans do not throw trash and metal at the players. Im not trying to be rude or offend Alejeuelense fans, but tons of trash and coins were thrown at the boalie, Montreal players, and refs. Also, lazer pointers were aimed at players eyes. This is something I have never seen in MLS. As JCS said, the goalie was the main factor. Bill Hamid, DC's main goalie, was out for the first match against Alajuelense and Hamid is incredible (so far he has 3 shutouts in 4 games in MLS). Our backup goalkeeper is very bad tbh. I don't like away goals, but I do believe that Montreal took initiative to attack on the road more than Alajuelense. It is a strange rule, but there is a lot of skill involved in managing it. I think CONCACAF Champions League is a bad way of judging MLS. MLS has tons of parity and the teams are very few balanced. CR has less parity than any league Ive ever seen. There are 3 dominant teams. Sorry this post was huge... I dont mind your opinion though, you were respectful ^^
Daniel Newsome yeah you made some good points and you're right is not good that some of our fans threw stuff to Montreal players but basically the whole situation was with the refs and I didn't see the laser pointers as we're not allowed to take them into the stadium. Yes, you're right I think Montreal qualified in a fair way that's part of the game... Good luck in the final hope you can win the tournament against the Mexicans.... :)
11:34 PM that night: Notification on my phone, from MLS: "72' Montreal Goal Alajuelense 2-2 Montreal Impact Goal scored by Andres Romero" 11:35 PM that night: Notification on my phone, text from my mom: "Please keep your cheering down, we are trying to sleep. Thanks!!" I was watching in the basement with my brother, my parents' room was 3 floors up LOL
Allez l'Impact!
You could tell the ref was scared to call anything and pushed the Montreal players to keep up the tempo as not to incite the fans. Montreal players are getting crap thrown at them from the stands and the only thing the Ref was worried about was keeping the clock running. 2 incidents where the ref should have sent off Alajuelense players for violent conduct and he didn't even give them a card. The last one being that stupid play where the ALS player literally studs up tackled the Montreal Keeper who was holding the ball.
So apparently according to this video Montreal scored 4 goals and Alajuelense scored 2 goals. Now the only question is why 2 of those players were wearing the wrong uniform when they scored :P
Costa Rica should have had at least 2 red cards that game last night. They also should have had easily 6 or 7 yellow cards that were never shown. The ref gifted Costa Rica every free kick he could and he also allowed Costa Rica to play quick replays that should never have happened. Essentially the ref let Costa Rica do whatever the F they wanted, manhandle Montreal, complete disgrace from the fans throwing things on the field. This has no place, should have no place, and needs to change in the future for this competition to be taken seriously. Sure the score line says one thing but when you are constantly demoralizing the visitors with cheating it can happen.
elfelixg the ref led their pussy ass goalkeeper lose time, the ENTIRE match, and the foul the did to McDonald, when someone pulled his hair, that's a clear red card
elfelixg It's not Costa Rica, its a team from Costa Rica, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, BTW, I'm costarrican and I was rooting for your team, hope we can join you at the final - Club Sport Herediano vs Montreal Impact!!!
Just before someone stomped on Piatti's ankle three times, but the ref was too busy talking about his BBQ during the weekend with the Alajuelense team.
I didnt know Frank klopas was coaching Montreal impact, he played vs Club America when he was coaching Chicago fire about 1year 1/2 ago on a friendly match and lost 3-1,It's going to be an exciting final!, I go for the love of my life Club America! I've been a fanatic for 32years!
alberto tre He will probably get fired in a couple of months :P since the start of the Impact season they are 1-5-2. The only win is the game Klopas was suspended by the CONCACAF
Man, if you think that junkyard of Alajuelense was insane, you should see a match at Ricardo Saprissa Stadium, I can truly assure you that every american is affraid of Saprissa's Stadium
+Walkoff 2 I think a major European club still would have thumped them. Yea, I know these fans are much more violent and raucous than the ones in Europe and they're certainly not used to playing on concrete, but can you just imagine a team like Barcelona or Real Madrid going in there and playing? No matter the circumstances no team from the Costa Rican league would stand a chance
I think sure a Real or Barca would've beat them, not before wondering 'what the hell is this?' What about an upper-mid tier team? still probably win but I'd want to watch it.
+Walkoff 2 Oh, for sure. If you mean like a mid-table EPL team like, say, Stoke, I'd definitely be curious to see how to turns out. They'd probably have no idea how to handle a concrete pitch (or that's at least what it looked like) and it would definitely be interesting. It would also make whoever the visitors are never want to go back to Central America again lol
These highlights are so messed up. When Alajuelense scored, it kept saying Montreal Impact scored. Plus, the music is still here. How is there stupid music still here? Just stick to the crowd noise. Also, McDonald isn't spelled "mc donald".
Montreal Impact wtf is wrong with your defensive line and your gk ?! I am happy that you won on away goals, but sad that you let LDA score 2 extra goals in the second half. You will not win against Club America in the final if you continue to give up second half goals. ; (
THIS! CONCACAF will continue to be a joke until they clean this up. That ref was obviously biased, did not call fouls on Costa Rica and 2 of them were red card worthy.
So easy to speak on Alajuelense fouls but not to tell about the fouls from Impact worthy of yellow cards as well as really manly hair pulling, that is an aggression and deserves a red card... Be serious
Third goal by Alajuelense was way way offside! Line referee was sleeping on that play....or maybe he voluntarly blinked 20 seconds during the counter attack!
Cacajuelense grande?

Should have been over after 3-0 but MTL couldnt control the game and keep possesion. They wont win the final playing like that. Seemed like they committed fouls at the edge of the box all night and were easily pushed back defensively. At least they exp. playing in CR. It should help if they play Herediano.
David n'a rien à perdre! Allez les BLEUS! #imfc
Red And White Pride well that too.lol but still it's still a team that plays in the Liga mx thier fans would go for CHIVAS of they were playing. A international tournament!!
I wish they would get rid of the stupid dramatic music and just have the noise of the crowd and commentators like an sensible highlights editor would do.
America vs Impact. I'm obviously rooting for America because that's my team. If America plays like they did vs Herediano in El Azteca this cup is gonna be a piece of cake.
America or montreal? I don't know who to choose! Should I support my favorite team from League Mx or should I support my mls league by supporting montreal ? ARRRRRGHHHHH
Jay WalkZ I think MLS. The fact that Mexican teams have won every champions league is actually a thorn in the side of the competition and seriously undervalues it. Having a non-mexican team win would put the CONCACAF in CONCACAF Champions League Also, don't rule out Herediano, tbh I expect them to hold America off.
***** that was the CONCACAF Champions Cup, whcih was a different competition. ALthough tbh, they are basically the same thing so youre right. However, my point still stands that its not generally fun win one league wins too much
Youmad Bro no, of course not, im not saying that Liga MX should intentionally lose, Im saying that, from a neutral standpoint, MLS and CR championships are good for the CCL
I hate america very much .. But putting liga mx drama to The side .. I want them to win since they represent México! .. I see america winning easily in Mexico and Montreal .. Believe it or not Montreal fans have to bring it because they are too quit compared to other countries .. Mls in general

Esteban Solis DC played with a lot of backups and that 5-2 result away was largely the fault of playing their back-up goalkeeper.

LMAO
Impact Montreal vs Club America in the final!!! Even thou iam not a America fan they gonna turn it around with heradino!!!
You are not a true chivas fan, you are an embarrassment.
America sucks.
Jose Salas lol America is not a Mexican team its a south American reject team lol XD
Jose Salas and your the dumbass because you don't how to spell dumbass.
LOL.....impact keeps making it by draw
America or montreal? I don't know who to choose! Should I support my favorite team from League Mx or should I support my mls league by supporting montreal ?
ARRRRRGHHHHH
Jay WalkZ you'll have some trouble with America since they are down from 3 goals against Herediano.
Jay WalkZ I think MLS. The fact that Mexican teams have won every champions league is actually a thorn in the side of the competition and seriously undervalues it. Having a non-mexican team win would put the CONCACAF in CONCACAF Champions League
Also, don't rule out Herediano, tbh I expect them to hold America off.
***** that was the CONCACAF Champions Cup, whcih was a different competition. ALthough tbh, they are basically the same thing so youre right. However, my point still stands that its not generally fun win one league wins too much
Daniel Newsome but who's fault is that? Not Liga MX lol
Youmad Bro no, of course not, im not saying that Liga MX should intentionally lose, Im saying that, from a neutral standpoint, MLS and CR championships are good for the CCL
Liga liga
#HalaMontreal
To me, alajalense played dirty futball.
I hate america very much .. But putting liga mx drama to The side .. I want them to win since they represent México! .. I see america winning easily in Mexico and Montreal .. Believe it or not Montreal fans have to bring it because they are too quit compared to other countries .. Mls in general
Now you support a MLS team lol
