Since this video was pivotal in me choosing this exhaust I just wanted to come back and say that I have about 3 months with this exhaust now and I absolutely LOVE it! I run with the baffle out and it sounds amazing! With the baffle in it's louder than stock, no doubt, but it wasnt loud enough for my friend in his new silverado to really hear me when I drove around him on the road. I got the system for sound presence as well as that sweet sweet exhaust sound so I took the baffle out took gain some decibels and he could hear me then. With the baffle out the exhaust is undoubtably louder that with it in and sounds a bit more raw as well. To that point with the baffle out there seems to be more crackle pops on decel but you're still going to get some with the baffle in. On the subject of volume again, baffle out the system is loud enough for others on the road to hear me BUT I do now have to ride with earplugs in. And I mean *have to*. The sounds seems to reverb in my helmet so without earplugs it's deafening, literally. With some good squishy earplugs Im perfectly fine though and it's worth it for the safety of the sound and the music of the sound, haha! Only downside is that $400 helmet I recently bought with blutooth that is useless to me now. Lastly, BlackWidow says you dont need a tune with this system and I drove without one for about two months but ended up getting one anyway and it *transformed* my the bike so I'd say it's more than worth it after getting this exhaust installed. Your bike will run better and my exhaust note sounds more smooth/refined after the tune as well. A side effect of the engine running better Im guessing.
Did you have any issues with the connector pipe touching the oil pan? Fitted this on my MT09 today and the pipe touches the oil pan which I’m concerned about. Whatever we did to space it, this was simply the only place it would sit. Exhaust sounds great and bike goes well but concerned about it touching. Any ideas?
My exhaust was very very close to the oil pan, but it did not touch. Try leaving everything loose and adjusting it away from the pan before final torque.
i left it sitting to the oilpan and it burned into my oilpan, it left a spot and am not happy with it at all. it sounds lovely but I wouldnt recommend getting this exhaust for the mt09.
great video, loved how you kept all of it to the point. Just got one question: Did you need to tune after installing the full exhaust? I see you're using the OEM O2 sensor with this System? the EBAY description says it doesnt need a ECU tune, but Im looking for an confirmation from someone who has this system and how they worked that part? Thanks Mate.
You should tune for optimal results, however I ran this bike with the stock tune for a few thousand miles with this full system and never had any issues. Ran the stock oxygen sensors.
The drone must be brutal on that, I had the M4 RM1 and sold it because it was giving me headaches lol... Now I dunno if I want the BW 230mm "high mount" one or the 400mm "low mount" like yours (just double the muffler size).
Really informative video and the black widow looks/sounds like a monster on your bike man! Got a BW slip on can on my '05 R6 and it does sound incredible! I'm considering an MT09 and an aftermarket complete system which I may need to fit if I don't find a good deal on a bike already sporting one. Question (sorry if dumb, never done a full system before): Do the headers require a gasket? If so did the BW system come with some in the kit?
Hi did yours come with the longer pipe so more exhaust is on show? If so how would you mount it that way. Only instructions on how to install it like you have?
Did you connect headers first , then the attach the 3 to 1 collector or assemble collector first then attach headers? No mention of the header crush washers? How did you hold those in place?
I put the header section on first, leaving everything loose. I definitely forgot to mention the new header gaskets. Black Widow provided new gaskets. Those were replaced before installation of the new system. I simply slid those into the holes for each cylinder before installing the headers.
I dont know if you'll see this comment at this point but, how loud would you say the 230mm is on a scale of 1-10? 1 being stock and 10 being unbearable. I am having the hardest time choosing between the 230mm and the 300mm. I like the look of the 230mm a lot more than the 300mm but I am concerned that the 230mm is going to be too loud. From what I've read on the FZ-09 forum, the 200mm is hands down too loud. People say the 300mm sounds great but they've described it in a way that makes me wonder if the 300mm is going to be a bit too tame for what I want. I ultimately want people on the road to hear me but I dont want all my neighbors to loathe me. I'd like it to put a smile on my face and really communicate the bikes power but I dont want to get home and have a headache from the noise of it.
230mm with the silencer in was actually really livable. Almost too quiet. I pulled the silencer out and it was the perfect volume of loud. 5/5 would buy again.
@@FocusedGarage Thanks a bunch for this insight! I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the 230mm. It sounds like it's just what Im looking for. Thanks again!!!

Thanks for dropping the comment! I absolutely loved the exhaust in the time I had the bike.
Did you lose mpg after the tune? How much did the tune cost you?
I would have struggled without watching your video , fantastic work, many thanks 👍
Great to hear!
Really helpful, cheers bro.

Honestly with the silencer in, it was relatively quiet. I rode with the silencer out for 5,000 miles on that thing lol
Nice Bro, is the same one for the Tracer 09 too or there is difference ? Tnx !
I believe this doesn't work on the Tracer due to its center stand.

Sorry if I didn't include it in the video, yes you are correct, there are little donut gaskets for each exhaust port where the headers meet the block.
Hi did yours come with the longer pipe so more exhaust is on show? If so how would you mount it that way. Only instructions on how to install it like you have?
The video shows the 230mm version with instructions unique to that.
Riding a 2015 FJ09, will this same exhaust fit my bike ?? Want one !!
I think due to the center stand, it will not.
Do I tech need a flash if I have a 2016 where I can manually adjust the fuel via diag co2 menu to make it run rich?
You should still have a flash done for optimal AFRs.

Very good explanation! The only thing that bothers me is that the foot rest is hiding the exhaust. :(
Thanks for checking it out!
Should I use exhaust paste to connect the silencer to the end of the mid pipe?? Or is the clamp enough
Since they provided paste, I used paste anywhere I had two joints.
Wait, still unclear. Do you have to put the exhaust sealant where the silencer goes on ?
You should put sealant between every joint.
is it nessecery to buy new exhaust gaskets ?
It comes with new exhaust port gaskets.
Did you use any exhaust paste or sealant during installation of your new system?
Yes I used the supplied paste on the slip joints.
I accidentally tightened everything up and my pipes were touching the oil pan. Is this a problem/should i reinstall?
Yes, you should readjust the exhaust because it will cause vibrations and can wear through the pipe.
With this sysyem do you need a ecu flash or just bolt on and go
Not needed, but strongly recommended.
@@FocusedGarage do you strongly recommend for power or does the exhaust make it run lean?
That that the 230mm or 300mm pipe?
This is the 230mm muffler.
Watch the video 🤦🏼♂️
Are the sound clips with the DB killer installed?
Yes the clip has the silencer in.
does the kit come with new gasket seals for the headers?
Yes it comes with new gaskets for each cylinder.
@@FocusedGarage sound i just ordered the same exhaust there 2 mins ago 😊, are you happy with the exhaust???

@@mrkthmn Hello! i'm another guy who has the hardest time of choosing between 230 mm and the 300mm. So how is your exhaust? Is it too loud?
What is the torque spec on the mounting bolt.
Not sure off the top of my head on that one, check out the forum or FB groups.
An exhaust is NOT unsprung weight.
Our bad, it is not. However it is weight removed nonetheless.
is there a different between the 230mm v 200mm othwr than the size??
Just the size of the muffler.
@@FocusedGarage thanks
@@FocusedGarage i bought the 230 gp model for my mt 09, is the Gp model louder than other models, anybody??
The 200mm is louder. I'm about to install mine in the next 20 minutes 😃
Is there and issue being so close to the tire?
Nope. 5,000 miles later, no issues.
Hi, thanks for the video. Did you flash your ECU for a new exhaust?
ECU has not been flashed yet, but I plan to as soon as the bike can get some downtime.

I think it was around $550 at the time of purchase.

I dont like it. To many different pcs to leak
Plenty of other choices out there if you don't like this design. However I experienced no leaks.
