"I don't feel seasick anymore." Funny how that works, huh? Way to get out there and do it, it's not easy.
I've forgotten to take motion sickness pills a few times and when I realize it, I just pray that it can be a good fishing day. Otherwise its game over!
hwaiting!
yes sir!!! haha love it!
Oh what I use before going out is ginger hard candy. Helps the stomach and during fishing here in Hawaii.
Pacific Bonito. Ya they have teeth. They’re more of a blue color with slashed lines. Pacific Mackerel are green with lots of lines and no teeth
Thanks Ray! I can typically id them but this one was so small and thrashing around like a mac that it threw me off lol.
Motion sickness can creep up on you even on a reasonably calm day. However, it's amazing how the feeling goes when you start catching fish.
I know right? Once that adrenaline kicks in, everything is better lol
Nice work Benjie! That was a faaaat calico!
Thanks Josh!! Super small but man that thing was about to explode lol!
Lol the fear in your face at the beginning of the video priceless, glad everything worked out brother!!
haha thanks Luis, I was definitely a bit nervous out there doing something new!
Super sick! Coming back in is always way more sketch that going out for sure! This is literally my favorite spot to fish, glad to see you out there!
Thankfully it was a really calm day, super easy for experienced folks but man I was still nervous as it was my first time! Having proper help was so important for me because I'm just figuring all this stuff out!
Congrats!!! That was awesome. Love the genuineness of your videos
That's super nice of you to say man, thank you.
First time for everything, we all have to start at the bottom, seasickness is no joke.
Yea man, I always forget to take motion sickness pills on small boats/kayaks. I'm definitely learning the ropes for this type of game but I'm willing to grind out the process!
great setup master love it
You are the kind of guy I would chill with bro. Looks like fun
Nice dude. Love that you caught a Bonito out there. Keep up the good work bro
I appreciate the encouragement Jeoffrey, was tough fishing on this day but more than anything, grateful to have had the experience and get my feet wet with this.
Hey Benji, just found this video, awesome surf launch video glad you made it out, the fart noise in the beginning got me good. One thing I will recommend for next time, you had your engine revving really high, when you put it in the forward it’s really bad for the outboard as you’re cranking your gears, you want it to be in low idol, I’ve mentioned it in some of the previous surf launch videos and I explain a little bit more in detail if you are looking for more of a better explanation. Regarding your Fishing mounts, that’s a cool idea but just remember for next outings when you have a bigger surf that a lot of your reels might get soaking wet. SUR baits absolutely kills out in La Jolla, I love the blue that he makes. You had a incredible first landing back on the beach for the first time out, for me personally I don’t like to get wet coming back in and jump out deep like you did, I run my motor pretty much into the ground but like yours it automatically lifts up when it hits the sand it doesn’t damage it and I ride the little wave all the way in. Once the motor does hit the sand I pull the kill cord so the motor doesn’t suck up any sound. Krexii And Ben are really good people, they are blast to fish with. Look forward to our well past due adventure on the water here soon. Merry Christmas!
Hey Josh, I'm always amazed by your insight, knowledge, and experience man...thank you for sharing even more with me here. I've got so much to learn and you're one of the guys I lean on as I try to gain that experience.
Thanks so much and maybe we can fish together this next year, would be an honor.
sweet man that looks like we could troll some baits in the skiff around there....looks calmer than the rig last week lol
hahaha right?! I had so much fun out there tho man, thanks for taking me. It's a bit of a drive but definitely a lot of fishy water down there.
Hey Benjie, I've tried almost every motion sickness meds. Scopolamine was the most effective but it's prescription and no longer made. I started using Kwells recently. It has the same active ingredient as Scopolamine and is non prescription. It seems to be as effective for me as Scopolamine.
It's still available. I just filled an Rx a few months ago. Transderm Scop is the name for the GlaxoSmithKline product which is still available. You might be referring to the Perrigo product which is discontinued.
@@edcastillo4456 Thanks for the info. I was getting Scopace before which was discontinued.
Good info here guys, thank you. I'll definitely keep it in mind. For me, as long as I take dramamine or anything similar, I'm good to go. But if I don't take anything, I feel it almost immediately.
I have the scout 430 only for 4months mine leaks at the seam starboard side I was able to get another hull. I thought the material would hold up a lot longer the couple months.
Great video Benjie ✌️👌👍
Thanks Mo! Heal up that elbow brotha!!
@@BenjieKimFishing thank you 🙏
That was cool I would like to see how you set up your boat before the launch and the break down after. Is there a place to wash down the boat and flush the outboard??
Thanks for the suggestion Jeff, I'll definitely keep that in mind for a future video.
To my knowledge, I don't thing there's a place to wash down there. It gets SUPER crowded too.
I just break it down and then wash/flush at home.
Dude nice video! That was a FAT Calico! I finally got a Halibut in the surf on the green smelt color Lucky Craft! With 8 lb straight mono 🤣! Thanks for the inspiration! And ya that’s a Bonito and they actually make bomb sashimi if you bleed them right away! 🍻 but not as good as yellow tail
I actually prefer Bonito to YT. XD
@@chriss6954 your right for me it’s a toss up depending on freshness but I should’ve said popular instead of not as good
@@addicted2fishing119 Haha for sure. I am okay with Bonito being less popular, more for me!
Congrats on that first one Daniel!! 8 lb is a little light but it'll still work for sure man.
Agreed on the bonito, I've had a couple from boat trips and it is a VERY underrated fish to eat. The sashimi/poke is super smooth!
@@BenjieKimFishing Thank you!…yes very nervous about throwing it at first but it has held up so far! Love the fight and drag pulls!🍻
Sickkkkkkk
The stripes aren't of a Bonito, that looks like a bullet tuna
My assumption is bonito but that's good information, thank you!
My goal is to get out there and catch a yellowtail also. Almost ready with all safety gear necessary
Seems like it is more than possible, just gotta be willing to get out there and put in the time. Excited for you!
I fished with Josh and Ben and they are great guys. Congrats on coming to the scout family!!!!
Oh man 100% agreed. I've yet to meet and fish with Josh but hopefully I'll be able to do that some time! Thanks for the stoke, I'm looking forward to more adventures on the Scout, I love this thing!
How about doing a video on how you rigged out your boat?
That's a great suggestion, thank you. I'll be sure to do that in a future video!
Do you need a boaters card or a boaters license for this type of vessel with the small outboard?
Benjie…. awesome video! What was your overall opinion of the scene at La Jolla Shores? For me, it’s a 90 minute drive from Huntington Beach and the traffic on the return trip can be an absolute nightmare, but despite that… I love kayak fishing La Jolla Shores! Yellowtail or not, that place is a beautiful place to fish!🎣😃
Hi Dan, man I loved the experience for sure. We have a similar trek down there but its such a beautiful and unique place that its well worth it.
Do you ever go down there during the week?? Would love to fish down there with ya some time if you're willing and able! It's been quite a while since our first bay adventure!
@@BenjieKimFishing that place is crazy on the weekend, so I only go down during the week. It’s way less crowded. Let me know when you want to go down there and chase some yellowtails.🎣😃
Nice job not flipping it. I haven’t tried a surf launch/landing yet either. And you didn’t get skunked, lol
haha agreed Peter, always got to keep it positive. This day was more for the experience and learning the ropes. Slay days are always the goal but I'm willing to take baby steps!
BONITOOOO
Baby boni!! haha I think I'd normally id it pretty easily but it was so small, wasn't sure if it was a mack attack lol
Great video! Did you feel stable moving around in the Scout?
Hi Warren, absolutely stable for sure. I definitely feel safe on it!
If you put a piece of tape over your belly button this will stop the sea sick right away
