My son went to the second stage for getting into the police today. They were in groups and presented with a scenario with 2 courses of action. It involved a 59 year old man and some children. One scenario would leave the 59yr old dead, the children alive. The other the 59yr old alive, the children dead. My son chose the children living scenario. He was asked why? Because as much that it would be awful, the older man has had a life, the children have not. They immediately called him ageist. He asked why?? Because he should find out there situations before making the decision?? (Probably skin colour) My son said he wouldn't take the job anyway and walked out. My son is 6ft 8" tall. Superfit and built like a brick shithouse. He's a retained fireman and loved everywhere he goes . He'd have been a brilliant police man..... In the traditional sense. We're screwed. I'm not sure where the notion that the Palestinians are distinct from Hamas has come from. It may be to some extent true but Hamas are the elected representatives of the Palestinian population of Gaza. They are not just a terrorist organisation operating clandestinely. Whether the people share the aims of Hamas, I couldn't say but they certainly have a collective responsibility for enabling their actions.
