Ever since I discovered Poppy about a month ago, I've been so fascinated by her and Titanic's way of portraying the character. I've literally spent day and night trying to get all my friends to watch her stuff to see how genius it all is, but none of them like it or just brush it off. Now, I fucking swear to God, if one of Poppy's songs goes super popular and suddenly all of them become Poppy worshippers, Imma lose my shit. And it's not cause she'd be gaining recognition, it'd be more cause they only listen to good things when suddenly the world picks it up and decides that hey, I now consider you good enough to be liked.

Let me tell you though, it's actually pretty sad to have a band you love never quite make it or deserve the recognition they deserve. None of the local guys I loved as a teenager ever found a larger audience and have broken up unceremoniously. The world typically doesn't decide suddenly "oh, now they're good enough," it's more that people simply don't have an idea that this artist exists.

But as soon as they start to blow up and gain recognition, suddenly they're like "Well they're more popular now so I will consider them worthy". You know that I mean? I wouldn't have known about her if UA-cam hadn't suggested her to me when I was scrolling my main page someday. UA-cam recommended her to me because she's gaining traction. I'm glad it did, or I'd be missing out. If you support her and want her to succeed, you'll have to accept that some of her fans are going to be lacking in depth. It's part of her climb to success. Not all of us were there in the beginning, how could we be? The world is incredibly vast and she's just one talented girl among an endless sea of people. Without fame, there is no recognition.

My sister recommend her videos to me (well, she actually told me not to watch them because I would become obsessed with the symbolism, but that's a recommendation to me) and I'm really glad that I found her music, she's great! I really bloody love how she can create a good song AND make fun of the whole music industry at the same time, the best part is is that if you weren't looking for the symbolism then you wouldn't find it.
