Can you imagine if 1967 Clapton, Green, Beck.... or 1974 Trower, 1983 Gibbons or SRV, would've set in front of a camera and showed us all how to play their licks the right way? Boggles the mind. Uncle Larry teaches us guitar the way my dad taught me electricity and plumbing, a scant few words and a lot of action. Pay attention while you're holding the flashlight, class.

Forgive me, Unc, for waxing philosophical and spiritually here, but… my belief is that we are each created by God for the specific time and generation we exist in and I give thanks daily for being placed here now. At 67 years old, I have been blessed to experience some of the most incredible music ever to be made and I love hearing your references to them as well as experiencing your stellar musicianship. I have been given the gift of playing guitar, pedal steel and a bit of saxophone in numerous (some really good) cover bands in my 54 years playing music and have an endless well of awesome songs to cover. Thank you for sharing you… your aforementioned musicianship, your knowledge, your musical and daily dad experiences. It feels like we are friends and I’m glad you’re here. 😊

I see many bar band musicians who can't keep their ego in check. like B. Mason in the 90's, you define Nashville guitar for the better portion of the last twenty years. You are amazingly humble considering. If you didn't have some ego you couldn't compete. You are surrounded by some of the best guitarist on earth. We are just grateful you share this stuff with us.

So many diamonds in this video Tom. More than i will bore you with. First, now that is a diamond worth keeping, "if you are betraying someone you are really betraying yourself more than anything...". And the song "American Tune” was on repeat when it came out back in my teen years...a masterpiece. And Yes's interpretation of it is equally brilliant. And lastly, watching you playing in this video, first, you really are a rock-n-roll bluegrass player with your mastery of alternate picking. And your brain and your fingers are clearly directly connected, not hitting the speed-bumps of "thinking". The combination of 100,000 hours of work and an obvious musical mind is simply amazing, and though i know i can't achieve those heights, for some reason, you continue to inspire me to keep after it. Thanks.

At age 4, I watched Joe Cocker and band play 'Help From My Friends' on PBS. At age 50, I feel like I remember everything about that moment with my parents sitting there, and asking them what I was seeing and hearing. I loved Waylon and Johnny Cash, Oakridge Boys, Alabama...and here was this explosion of sound.

What a coincidence that you mention America, I’ve been on a Simon and Garfunkel kick the last week or so. I’ve been getting lost in the Old Friends album, particularly the Bleeker St Demo and the Sound of Silence cut. The vocals seem to have a wider stereo spread and it’s more stripped down than the other versions. In a pair of headphones or a good speaker system, it’s mind blowing.

You killed it tonight Tommy! Be good to yourself and I know this sounds trite but thanks for the inspiration. Both parts of Bodhisatva? Epic!
