For anyone wondering… 2:35 is Will You Ever Love Me Again? from Michael Lemmo’s amazing Blue Comet. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if anyone hasn’t already listened to that record, it’s an absolute must. Thanks Michael Lemmo (and Jen) for another great guitar of the day. Keep them coming!
He didnt mention it was a bob body, I paused the video on a side shot and indeed it looks to be a bob strat. My 87 Strat Plus has a diamond body unfortunately but hey. Its still an 87
Mike, I love the way you demonstrate these wonderful guitars. Your technique is wonderful of course and the tunes you chose to show us are perfect. Plus, the different tones/sounds delivered from all the pickups is fantastic. Thank you.
I have an E8 exact same color & it plays like silk, and I agree with everyone who says they love Lemmos playing, best part of my day listening to his playing and improv is fantastic too!
Very nice sounding Many Thanks to you Lemmo Norm for if it wasn’t for your season here we wouldn’t get to hear these truly magnificent instruments but to here them played 😎
The color is called Gunmetal Blue. It is more green than it is blue. I have the an '87 American Standard in the same color but with a maple fretboard. These late 80s to mid 90s American Standard Strats are some of my favorites. Great playing Lemmo. 🤘
I have the exact ‘87 American Std Strat same color. Only mod is I replace middle and bridge pickups with Lace Sensors. Bought brand new while on vacation in 1987 from Sightsingers in Anaheim
The harmonic complexity of that guitar with that amp makes for one of the finest sounding Strats I've heard ... EVER .... and Lemmo really knows how to play to the strength of the gear in his hands.... Well done Michael !!..... well done !!
Never played a bad guitar from 1987. Great year for Fender in my opinion. They also had pewter color available during that period. Nice playing sir! Hope Norm is well.
My first Strat was the same colour, I hated it so I painted it black. The “clear”coat I used did not corporate and it turned green. Still have it and love it. It’s the first guitar that was “the one” when I picked it up.
Me too!but in maple fretboard! the neck bottom is dated 3rd april 87 and the neck pocket on the body is dated 27th april 87 (a week after my birthday). It has the fullerton deep body contour!great guitar
Those early American Standards are really good. Especially the pickups sound super fat and warm, but still stratty enough. They also have the TBX-control.
I’ve have an 89, same color, mint condition. Bought it from The original owner who bought it new when he was in high school, slid it under his bed and never learned how to play guitar. I paid $850 🙂
I have thus same year gun metal blue in that same configuration. Bought it from a High School band catalog while stationed in England! It’s a fantastic guitar. I ordered it with a maple next but when I played it I knew it was a keeper!
I didn't catch mention of, nor demo of...the TBX tone circuit. My '89 has it...doesn't this one? (Btw, I liked the little "Clapton section" of Mike's demo.)
Are late 80's and 90's Fender guitars given enough credit? Yeah, poly finishes and the Lace pickups were some points of contention. But man, the consistency was good, quality control was on, weight was good, and my experience says guitars were pretty damn good. American Standard series kick ass.
I have an 88, the plastic of the pickups and the pickguard changed color giving it an aged look, this cream color really complements the gunmetal blue (more than the white color imo). Sounds great, don’t need another strat! It also has the treble bleed configuration
It's a sweet guitar; I'm sure that it sold very quickly. I'm looking at a mint sunburst American Standard set-up by the legendary Luthier Hideo Kanimoto back in the '80's. It's believed to be an '86. 🎸🎸🎸
The color I believe is officially called Gun Metal Blue. I have two with the exact color and one is a 1987 just like this and the other is a 92 Strat Plus
I have a 1987 USA Standard which I bought in early 1988. The only mods I’ve done is to add locking tuners and a graphite nut. I will never ever sell it though.
Interesting - not something I'd given much thought to, but for reference my 2007 US Standard has flat pole pieces, so maybe it's something that has came and went a few times.
I have an '87 but it's silver and maple neck. Otherwise identical to this. Lovely guitar. Mine is quite a bit heavier than this at 10 pounds and change.
Have the same model! identical body colour, but maple keyboard ,payed 859 $ in the ‘89.unfortunately I’ve changed the bridge pickup with an active emg humbucker .I should go back to original ..much better😱

Thank you very much for this! The song is a masterpiece
Thanks mate
These vids truly make my day . Thank you to everyone at Norms!
Cool strat! Great playing Lemmo! I love your style buddy! Thanks Jen for capturing these awesome Norman's Rare Guitar moments!!!!
First year of the American standard and had the unique ’bob’ contour for one year only. A really special instrument!
He didnt mention it was a bob body, I paused the video on a side shot and indeed it looks to be a bob strat. My 87 Strat Plus has a diamond body unfortunately but hey. Its still an 87
If I'm not mistaken, '86 was first year the American Standard Strat was made.
One of your finest Guitar of the Day, Mike dude !
Lemmo is mesmerizing.
love the block saddles

Jen and Michael , I alway feel better watching you and all the videos of Norm's Thanks for the smile.

Another great DEMO by LEMMO! Great guitar.
I have the exact ‘87 American Std Strat same color. Only mod is I replace middle and bridge pickups with Lace Sensors. Bought brand new while on vacation in 1987 from Sightsingers in Anaheim
Nice. I’ve owned seven or eight Strats from this era and they were always great. They don’t sound or feel like old ones, but they feel great.
The harmonic complexity of that guitar with that amp makes for one of the finest sounding Strats I've heard ... EVER .... and Lemmo really knows how to play to the strength of the gear in his hands.... Well done Michael !!..... well done !!
Beautiful tunes. Thank you Lemmo.
Everytime you play a Strat it sounds amazing. I think it's YOUR guitar, Lemmo!
What the Beauty! Special Color too!
Always great listening to Lemmo riffing. You all rock.
I loved the color!
Never played a bad guitar from 1987. Great year for Fender in my opinion. They also had pewter color available during that period. Nice playing sir! Hope Norm is well.

@@albyukeme too. Gunmetal 87 with maple fretboard. Bought it off the rack.
@@marissawright8206 Me three. '87 American Standard, gunmetal blue, maple fretboard. Love it.
I have an 87 Strat Plus in Antique White and Maple one piece neck. Got it in 88. First year of its kind!
Nice guitar 🎸
Beautiful Strat and wonderful playing, sounds so good 👍🎸
Those early American Standards are really good. Especially the pickups sound super fat and warm, but still stratty enough. They also have the TBX-control.
Man, I really like the TBX control in my strats!
It is an underrated spec.
what does it do??? tbx?@@velosouk
I’ve have an 89, same color, mint condition. Bought it from The original owner who bought it new when he was in high school, slid it under his bed and never learned how to play guitar. I paid $850 🙂
gun metal blue right
@@danielferrer9464 Yes, sold it a few months back for $1200
My favourite day is Straturday ❤ Lemmo could have a plank, with elastic bands, and it would still sound absolutely fantastic ❤
That is a very nice sounding and not to mention a good looking guitar!! Wish it were mine!!!!
Was great to hear Stratosphere again. That's one of my favorite Lemmo tunes
This guy sells guitars by playing them 🔈🔉🔊✨✨✨✨✨
I have thus same year gun metal blue in that same configuration. Bought it from a High School band catalog while stationed in England! It’s a fantastic guitar. I ordered it with a maple next but when I played it I knew it was a keeper!

The TBX was introduced on strats in 1988
Nice looking Strat. Pearloid pickguard would take it to the next level for me. Sounds great.
the color reminds of my dad's 1966 Dodge Coronet that he just sold
Absolutely beautiful Lemmo! Nearly shed tear on my morning bus lol. Some parts are very Clapton!
Stratosphere, my favorite Lemmo tune!
Are late 80's and 90's Fender guitars given enough credit? Yeah, poly finishes and the Lace pickups were some points of contention. But man, the consistency was good, quality control was on, weight was good, and my experience says guitars were pretty damn good. American Standard series kick ass.
Thank you
anyone knows which song is start 7:17? sounds great :-) Thanks Michael? amazing!
What’s the second song 4:13)?
I have the E4 `88. They are great guitars
Lemmo's amazing!
How do you make it look so easy Mike?
👍👍
🔥
Love Lemmo’s playing. It’s so expressive.
I have an 88, the plastic of the pickups and the pickguard changed color giving it an aged look, this cream color really complements the gunmetal blue (more than the white color imo). Sounds great, don’t need another strat! It also has the treble bleed configuration
Im about to buy the exact one since i was born in 88
It's a sweet guitar; I'm sure that it sold very quickly. I'm looking at a mint sunburst American Standard set-up by the legendary Luthier Hideo Kanimoto back in the '80's. It's believed to be an '86. 🎸🎸🎸

What colornis that called inhave that guitar
It didn't take long for The LEMMO TONES to come out.Is that color Sherwood. Green ?
Oh my god, his playing was sensational here! I loved the first 2 songs especially
I have a 1987 USA Standard which I bought in early 1988. The only mods I’ve done is to add locking tuners and a graphite nut. I will never ever sell it though.
The great post CBS revival of the ‘80’s. Clapton/Jeff Beck signature models & the Strat plus ultra. Race horse instruments.
Also Malmsteen!
@@velosouk race car instrument.
Flat-pole pickups in use until the late 90. Not in production today I believe. Great demo !
Interesting - not something I'd given much thought to, but for reference my 2007 US Standard has flat pole pieces, so maybe it's something that has came and went a few times.
Does it have the stacked TBX tone control pots?
That color is "gun metal blue metallic". I have the same model with a maple neck.
I used to kinda want that type of color a lot or something...
Gunmetal blue.
Lemmo could sell snow to an Eskimo. No matter what he plays, it’s always great.
Looks like woodland green- Steve McQueen's mustang color.
Would be nice if Michael shared the chords to his beautiful songs. 😍 Would be so so nice to be able to play his music.
LEMMO!!
I have an '87 but it's silver and maple neck. Otherwise identical to this. Lovely guitar. Mine is quite a bit heavier than this at 10 pounds and change.
🔥
💜💜💜💜
I have one with a maple neck and a Greyish green color.
This color guitar is Gun metal blue!
I actually really prefer these 'mundane' models. I don't know why, but they just interest me more.
What’s the first 🎵 song 😮😊?
What is that first tune.
Small trem block.??? Nice sounds though.👍👍
Ocean Torquoise?
Sounds fantastic! Which pickups are those?
they came standard in the strat!
♥
I had the same guitar, the color is called gun metal blue. Cool guitar but the stock pickups are lack luster.
vibey
Have the same model! identical body colour, but maple keyboard ,payed 859 $ in the ‘89.unfortunately I’ve changed the bridge pickup with an active emg humbucker .I should go back to original ..much better😱
Hey Mike smile.
my 335 was GOTD
👍👍👍✌❤😎
80's Stratocasters ???
Kinda like Sherwood Green, but not exactly.
Yeah, reminded me of ocean turqouise to be honest. But based on some comments here it's 'gun metal blue' :)
Michael plays better without all those rings weighing his fingers down!
Just gut RV 6 and your guitar will sounds like nothing else
Just bought one of these for a smoking deal. Trying to resell and no one wants it
Ahhh Tunes to grow soy by
