How much is sea level rising per year? Relying on nearly a 30-year record of satellite measurements, scientists have measured the rate of sea-level rise at 0.13 inches (3.4 millimeters) per year.
People chose to live on unstable ground on a beachfront in a hurricane area, and when things happen they demand taxpayers bail them out and make them whole.
Building on compressed sand in beach communities is a problem all over. In, Oregon, most coatal towns are built on compressed sand which is not good in an earthquake.
My Dad was a Developer here in Miami; his Company put the canals alone Old Cutler Road down to the Falls in the 1950's. When other Developers wanted him to partner on the Miami Beach condos on the water my Dad told me that these building would be a big issue in the future due to sinking but some ppl were more interested in $$ then truth! ja

In the Keys, the rising sea level means groundwater is rising. The roads are deteriorating because they are regularly getting soaked with salt water from below.
You built in a swamp. It's not rocket science.
Lol "why is this happening?"
Yep should never have built them and ruined the Miami coastline.
Spot on!
Miami Beach is artificial to begin with.
Miami does really suck to visit. I don't know why it's so popular. It's so swamped with skyscrapers it ruins the entire view.
Sea level is rising at a rate of 5-8cm per year and increasing, living in Florida is pure stupidity at this point.

It might be the other way around, just saying. 😂
lol 8cm per year would be over your head already! It’s the buildings sinking on sand not sea level rising .
people who can’t afford florida are loving this
Of course they are, who builds on a beach?
some beach
Trump!
@@TheJanet4321 And Motel Lardo can't sink fast enough for me.
And with all of those stories we grew up with covering how the intelligent build on rock! 😊
WE the taxpayers will end up paying for these millionaires condos.
People chose to live on unstable ground on a beachfront in a hurricane area, and when things happen they demand taxpayers bail them out and make them whole.
Tax payers should NOT bail them out. However, the developers/builders should be held liable.
No tax-money to bail them out !!!!
Those are expensive buildings!
Another way the billionaires NEVER pay, they stick it to the consumers who foolishly had trust in them

Florida won't be insurable soon. Should have listen to Al Gore.
Imho, A G was all about the money…
It's barely insurable now.
Yep, Al Gore was ridiculed by many, but any intelligent person knew he was right.
Too "Inconvenient"!
Bad for re-sale won’t be able to sale at all .

Duh? If you live on the water then expect to lose your home this generation
"I bought a home in Florida!" "Wow! Is it on the water?" "Not the last time I checked."
NO more high rises on beach‼️‼️‼️‼️
Only good for RV parks.
In other words, there was no point in having this on the news at all. It is simple compaction.
slow news day
“Keep living there, it’s normal.”
There’s advice that won’t age well.
This guy has just put the FEAR OF GOD INTO EVERY CONDO OWNER.

Foolish is the man who builds his house upon the sand.... Anyone?
It is the fool who builds his house upon the sand.
All buildings settle…
According to Trump there’s will only 1/8” sea level rise in the next 100 years which = more sea front property, so what’s the problem?

All dwellings sink over time. Your house. Your apartment building. They're all sinking into the ground. How bad, and how ypu deal with it, matters.
Huh? No. Incorrect. There are dwellings from a thousand years ago which have not sank an inch.
Ever hear of a pyramid?
That was a very strange interview.
Trump better start draining the swamp faster. 🤭
ROFL Professor Peabody is incorrect.

I thought it was Cali that was gonna sink into the ocean,...
Opposite. Pacific plate is pushing inland.
It’s also called Mother Nature’s erosion around the edges of the planet… which is normal. Bottom line, the buildings were built to close to the water.
Nope…. California isn’t full of traitors that hates democracy & America.
