Budget 2024: Students in Kashmir pin hopes for reduced fee structures, scholarships

As the budget approaches, students in Kashmir are hoping for a financial respite that will ease their academic burdens. With rising education costs and dwindling scholarships, students are expecting the budget to bring some relief in the form of increased funding for education, reduced fees and improved infrastructure.
Mohammad Ayan, a student, said, "As a student, I demand some academic ease, scholarships and well-built infrastructure of schools and colleges. The funds that will be allocated for education sector should be for the welfare of students. The burden of fee should be eased so that everyone is able to get basic education. Those living in rural areas should also get scholarships.
Students also expect that funds are allocated for the higher education sector. They demand more and more colleges should come up in remote villages so that students don't have to shift to cities for higher education. Another expectation is reduction in the fee at institutions so that education becomes affordable for all.
