It's nice to see someone using simple everyday tools for once. Too many times woodcraft videos portrays whole laboratories of high end tools too costly for the average enthusiast. Kudos! 👍
I made my own version of this recently. I'm a machinist by trade, so I used aircraft aluminum instead of wood. Mine was more toward function than beauty, however. This model is absolutely gorgeous, and the woodworker in me is jealous!!! Planing on incorporating your wonderful ideas of beauty into a Mark II version of mine. Wood will undoubtedly be slightly more weighty, but what is the world if we can't add our own beauty to it. Thank you for reminding me of that.
can i have a look at the Mark II version. it's great if it can be combined with wood. it will look more beautiful. thank you very much. have a nice day
@@woodarttg Absolutely. Though don't expect it any time soon. My current design took me a bit short of a year to design, re-design, and build. Have made a high-tech reminder to post a pic or two here when it's done though. By high-tech I mean I thumbtacked a post-it-note on my worktable. 😄
@@TREETOPCHOPPA762 I see your mistake. I did not make my design based on Wood Art's design, or video. I made my own design, which took me a year, off and on, to finish. I actually finished mine in Aug '22. So I was not saying I took his design and then took a year to make mine. I was saying I made mine over a year, and THEN saw his. I was commenting on Wood Art's design and use of wood, and expressed a desire to incorporate many of his ideas into a re-design of my own. As an example: I used a lever action to reload mine, instead of the pump action Wood Art used. I intend to test that pump action design and see which works best for me and mine.
Im not incredibly handy but this "marble shooter" is a very nice piece of handmade ART. Absolutely amazing my friend and very intricate. Very nice indeed.🙂👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh, this is well designed! Much of an improvement over the typical "single shot breech" versions. a small, jointed wood, lever arm (Winchester), incorporated in to pump slide, could VASTLY improve tension and reduce user fatigue (not assist, just removes slack motion). A "Rear Passthrough Chamber Slide" (aka a port on rear of breech) would allow you to manually load a single plumbata/bolt (an short arrow) for larger game / О, это хорошо разработано!
Nice project and good use of simple tools. ;) Little tip for ya: When you glue wooden surfaces, cover the entire mating surface in glue. Any area you leave bare will react to moisture differently and since this will be going outside and be stored inside, you are going to get lots of moisture fluctuation. Furniture built improperly can and will tear itself apart, even when it spends it's life inside. If you want real durability switch to Titebond 3 after you prototype with CA. I love CA, but its got nothing on the strength of proper wood glue. Cheers!
@@djdynieldaniel1395 He got thin CA along the joint lines, which is great as it will seep in and seal, but CA is a brittle glue with very little strength when it comes to lateral movement. And more moisture = more movement. As for the finish, aside from high grade marine spar varnish or similar, any finish can and often will fail somehow. When you use a wood glue and cover the entire surface you create a bond so solid that the wood will fail first the majority of the time, moisture-be-damned. :)
@@djdynieldaniel1395 So much of woodworking is trying to mitigate the potential failures. The glue, the joint surfaces, the finish... it all comes down to use-case and materials. I'm just offering advice on upgrading the product along those lines.
@@woodarttg Bro, trust me, this is your talent. You have the tools and especially the patience. I watch how you work each parts, all I keep repeating to myself, is this guy knows what he's doing. For sure this is your craft.
Great design, but if I may I can see that if you make a MK 2 version that either the stock or the body is elongated so the hilt of the stock can sit on your shoulder for those accuracy shots. Elongating the body would add more weight on the front end, You might also consider adding some lead into the elongated stock so that it counterbalances the front body with the fulcrum somewhere around where you place your front hand, this will give it much better balance - I've seen stocks that have a longer curved top section so that it partially sits on top of the shoulder for even more stability. Otherwise a GREAT zombie apocalypse design. My only slight criticism would be to use proper wood glue instead of CA considering the forces you are putting into this, CA glue has a low shear resistance and you REALLY don't want this to have a failure while fully cocked.
Awesome dude! I dig, I dig your survival marble slug rifle! Definitely will work in a survival situation! I’m sure it will even if one uses small round pebbles! Excellent!
Fantastic work! You are very talented. You should set up an on line store for those who can’t make their own but want to buy your beautiful art. Then post a link to your store in the description.
Great woodworking skills, and nice toy, but this is not going to do much in a survival situation. Try head to head with a grizzly and see if it tickles him. lol This will not produce enough velocity for true defense. Keep going with your creations though. 👍🏻
Looks awesome. I would have liked to see the entire field of view when the shot is made to validate it is the featured weapon's projectile hitting the target. In fact, it makes me skeptical..
Do you mean, High-density polyethylene plastic? If so, probably because it's toxic, expensive and not readily available. That and the fact it would likely act differently to the wood super glue, especially if trying to combine this plastic with wood together on the same or similar build.
It's a little sad to me that this video won't be truly useful until long after the internet is gone and the zombies have come. Love this video, love seeing the process.

there's simple tools that would have saved time there is a drill bit with a box around it that chisels out a square hole in one pass to make the square holes and where he drew the arc on the thick piece of wood and chiseled it out he could have used the coping saw to cut out the arc
Very good result and also powerful enough for defense. The one who is able to copy this, can call himself "wood artist" - but for me it would be too complicated to build.
Needs an underbarrel grip on the sliding mechanism for faster reload + you dont slap the shit out of your fingers if youre not careful where you keep your support hand when aiming.
Why not just cut the shoulder stock big enough to be useful or cut an ergonomic pistol grip if your going to shoot it free hand, addressing the piece properly provides a steady foundation for consistent accuracy,,,the Gunny, USMCR
