I had a base model A3 of this generation (pre-facelift) as first car and it was great. Interior held up surprisingly well for its age and it refused to rust. The 100-200 time seems to line up pretty well with 210hp if you ask me, I dont think its missing much or any power to speak of. Its AWD after all, robbing a bit of power.
its fwd as long as there is not any loss of traction. I think its just the way the engine is set up that robs it of speed. It has a lot of low end torque and because of that my guess would be, that peak hp occurs at lower than 6k rpm. Don't know if knowing that and driving accordingly would make any noticeable difference though
@@raiinydayz1889 Yes, I know about the AWD system. Still has more hardware to spin, which robs some power. Regarding torque, revs and power delivery, those factors are as good as irrelevant to the acceleration numbers. Only average power in between gearshifts count, and that number is often very closely correlated to the peak power number. In as good as every petrol powered car, shifting earlier, "using the torque", or power delivery rpm mattering at all, are sadly all just effectively long-lived myths that for some reason became popular, but have no basis in reality.

I had a 2000 VW Golf that came with the gutless 2.0L 8 valve engine and I turbocharged it with supporting mods and while it wasn't modified 1.8t fast, it was still fun and would wrap the speedo around fairly easily (once I was able to find SOMEONE who could finally tune it). I simply put an eBay T3 .48 turbo on it and it pulled hard. I had a .44mm external wastegate on it and it controlled boost on a 200,000 mile stock engine fairly well. It made 254 wheel hp at 15 psi, and that was on E85. However, that was on a MegaSquirt V2 3.57 ECU and a universal harness. The 1.8T 5V was still fairly expensive back when I built that crappy Golf that I paid $400 for with the 2.0 8 valve 5 speed.

S3 1.8 t has a monster of an engine which can reach 400 ish hp's in ease and with haldex AWD system lets you floor up the throttle without having doubt all year long

The 1.8t is a monster when it comes to tuning. Up to 400HP on stock internals with a bigger turbo and over that you need forged internals. The block can withstand 600-700HP as far as I know which is insane for a 1.8l 4cyl turbo.
