This is silly. Why should I be concerned with how I talk to right wingers? Why is TYT obsessed with this topic? I’m guessing Ana is trying to deal with her Cuban in-laws finding out about her past hyperbolic language. 😮 Just like how she is so hyperbolic about being called a “birthing person”.😂😂😂
I basically hate watch this channel but if cenk it not giving part ownership she should start her own channel or go to cable news I would rather watch Ana than that butch lesbo and yes I’m talking about don lemon
@@majorlazor5058 I do think that this is an important topic. If you want to convince others, insulting them is not the best way of accomplishing this. How likely are you to listen to the arguments of someone who calls you a "monster" or a "moron". It is possible to be tactful without compromising one's principles. Attack the ideas, not the people (except for the politicians).
@@rajanogray9088 I don’t care about convincing the right. It’s largely a waste of time. Leftwingers are the majority now. It’s better worth our time trying to convince liberals to move further to the left. The only reason Ana and Cenk care about this issue so much is because most people in their family are right wingers. It’s better spending time educating the youth who haven’t been fully ruined by the decades of ingesting Republican misinformation and religious dogma. While Ana defends reaching out to conservative bigots, in the same week she trashed language important to the trans community. Hell, she trashes progressives on a regular basis these days. I don’t understand her anymore.
This was absolutely one of the best TYT videos EVER! I agree with them both. I am so impressed that you two did this in front of the whole world. Great job! There truly are no easy solutions.
I absolutely agree this is a long overdue discussion on the left and both Cenk & Ana are correct. Do Republican voters support atrocious policies against people they don’t like and dismiss criminality? Absolutely. But how did they become so accepting of vile behavior and policies? They’ve been brainwashed by right wing propaganda into hating their fellow Americans and ignoring glaring flaws with their politicians. They actually believe their very way of life is under threat. Ana is right: most of them are not evil people deep down. But, to Cenk’s point, you can’t entertain their fascist tendencies either by telling GOP voters they’re not brainwashed and acting irrational.
while I felt uncomfortable watching you two debate, this was necessary. like parents modeling healthy conflict to children, you put on display for us how to have the uncomfortable discussions we need to have with others in our own lives. but the real power is in the continued respect after the debate (which I saw during the live show breaks) thank you both for not being shy to approach the topic. not hoping for these kinds of debates all the time, but when the time is right, I'm glad I can trust that TYT is never afraid to have the hard discussions.
I understand Cenk's frustration: it can be exhausting for Progressives to always be sympathetic of those who vote for the Right, because the Right never encourages its members to be sympathetic to those who vote for the Left.
I'm sorry Ana but Cenk is much more correct on this. Think of it like this, hatred is hatred and it is wrong. Even if people have been fooled to believe in hateful things, it is still wrong and they are still bad
Mommy and daddy are fighting 😞 Seriously though I loved this debate. It was passionate with both of them articulating their points aggressively but respecting the other. Awesome!
Sure Anna but what is the impetus for watching Fox news in the first place? It's watched because it is in line with thoughts already formed. Fox basically gives the audience what it wants and that's even scarier than Fox being Fox.
And the Left plays offense against the wrong people. You don't stop the Sons of the Harpy by killing every assassin. You stop them by going after their financial backers. So why aren't we doing that with Fox News? Go after their corporate backers. Who advertises during their commercial breaks? Who pays them to gaslight racism and global warming? Those are the questions a smart Left Wing party asks.
Regardless of who I agree with, I have to give credit to Cenk and Ana here for having this uncomfortable debate on the network. This is what differentiates TYT from virtually every other news source, including other progressive ones. We need more media to hold itself accountable.
@Daniel Sanchez Strength is having your bills passed. Having a majority in the house and senate for the first 2 years of the Biden administration got nothing for the people. Somehow, the fascist were able to roll back women's rights to choose and have test states like Florida and Arkansas where the governor has children working in meat packing plants. Terms like toxic masculinity when applied to someone who wants to fight for our side are misguided at best.
@@nearthefarworld When we rally our people up, we protest when they do it they speak of killing us enough so some of them even actually do it and the ones who don't just want a civil war to wipe us out of existence
@adrianbulosjr.5935 TYT projects strength. Corporate "news" Media projects massive WEAKNESS, because all they do is "both sides" every issue. As far as Cenk and Ana go, they are both correct. Although I agree more with Cenk. Ana is correct that taking the fight directly at the leadership of the former "republican party" is the REAL fight. But Cenk understands that 'R' voters SEEK OUT misinformation ON PURPOSE, and not because they are simple-minded hicks and rubes. I personally know simple minded hicks and rubes. When you ask any of them if Health Care is insanely expensive, they all say "yes". When you ask them if they would like to make more money, they all say "yes". When you ask them if they love American freedom, they all say "yes". When you ask them if their family immigrated to the United States for a better life, they all say "yes". But since the hicks and rubes I know intentionally seek out right wing infotainment for their "information", when I ask them how to fix the high cost of health care, they immediately regurgitate "I hate Obamacare!". When I ask them how they can make more money, they immediately regurgitate "cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations!". When I ask them about American freedom, they immediately regurgitate "Democrats kill babies!". When I ask them about fixing the obviously broken immigration system to allow immigrants to come and go with Work Visas, they immediately regurgitate "build a wall!". We cannot have a sane conversation with people who intentionally seek out insane "solutions" to real American issues. So Cenk calling 'R' voters stupid, is spot-on. 'R' voters want to be stupid.
Cenk "Religion has turned some of you into monsters" Ana "You love strawmanning, Cenk" Ana "You're deliberately misrepresenting my views" Sam Harris made all of these points in 2015 against Cenk but got criticised for this lol
I think what Cenk didnt touch on if he is being honest, he has a certain showmanship which is mostly for the clearly progressive audience. He sort of channels our anger and frustration and lets it out for all of us wanting to yell about it in a visceral way. Its not a bad thing, its just sort of a "vessel" thing to keep us fired up and moving forward, buuut, I am like Ana, I get tired of the hyperbole because, venting feels great but often useless if there isnt the rational and intentional act needed to change things. Its a "both right" kinda thing for me, but I am leaning towards high fiving Ana on this one. Most importantly, imagine a news channel that allows ACTUAL DEBATE AMONGST THEIR PEERS?! Thats why tyt can be awesome! 🎉
Rather than wasting time talking to the right-wing, ignore the ignorant. They get too much attention. They interpret that attention as proof of their "dominance" of the public discourse and therefor their ownership of the truth.
I don't. We tried that in 2016 and they used it to plan mass shootings. People like Alex Jones don't go away just because you ignore them. They plot evil.
These ordinary people are supposed to be conservative and pro law enforcement, pro military, pro-religious etc... They know right from wrong and choose to ignore it.
Cognitive dissonance… No one’s immune, we all can do it. They truly believe they’re being told the truth and that democrats are liars and when confronted by evidence to the contrary, the internal conflict doesn’t allow them to see past their bias. If you talk down to them you’ll never get them to see that bias. It takes time, patience and understanding. They’re not bad people, they’re trusting humans who are being mislead.
@Brad Beard I'm sure every child who would of been gay or maybe was neither is going to appreciate your progressive stance on this once they start seeing people they graduated with start having families and realizing* they had that opportunity stolen from them before they could think about it. Shame on you guys. You don't take kids to strip clubs. You don't let them drink smoke or drive. But a life altering medical procedure before they've matured? That's perfectly fine.
@@AdolfTrudeau honestly it's tricky, most kids don't know either way what attracts them to their hormones kick in and they go through puberty. If u have to be certain age to drink, drive, go to war etc., It's not unreasonable to pump the brakes and let the child discover their self. So I believe it should be a age standard like 16 or 18 till their mind has matured more fully. Unless the are born a morphadite then they should wait till at least 8-10 or older to see what the child identify as.
I recently asked a Republican voter "What's good about the Republican Party? What do the Republicans do that's good?" She couldn't answer. "I've always voted Republican." was her only answer.
@Greg Bet Your fourth statement is an outright lie. In 2000 there was a government surplus, the first step in reducing debt, brought by welfare reform. The very next administration took that surplus and gave it away in tax breaks, then started an unfunded war while increasing the size of government. So your fourth point should be limit public services so the rich can have more. And now you're leaders are coming after social Security Security.
@Greg Bet The party that demonized the word "woke" is about free speech? You guys are so concerned about drag queens that you passed a law in Tennessee that essentially makes it illegal. Even though the governor was caught in drag. With all the democratic presidents, how many have you heard say they are against the 2nd amendment? How many have pushed for the end of the 2nd amendment? You say cut government spending, but all Republicans and corporate democrats want to do is raise the defense budget every year. Is that not government spending? You're not anti abortion, you're anti woman. If you guys push for social safety nets and health care for the mother and child, then you can say you're anti abortion. Your side is arguing in favor of child hunger and calling cps to abduct kids. Isn't cps a government agency? How do you plan to have all these cps agents abduct all these kids, transport them, house them, feed them, and find home for them if you cut their budget? It took me 2 minutes to debunk all those "points" you made. I know, you own the libs, so that's all that matters, right? Facts be damned.
Super conservative here. Found Ana through Ben Shapiro. Love her. She’s the first progressive that’s made me want to listen because she’s not focused on hating or owning the other side. She has genuinely informed me on issues. Keep up the good work Ana.

I wish he had a college student like that put him in his place back in 2016 when he was just an obnoxious bully who got off on mocking people. Hard to sell that one as "Ben Shapiro DESTROYS"!
The country would be in a much better place if we could all be able to have open and honest conversations like this. Even super frustrated with each other, and yelling you both still have respect for each other.

@Slinkywildfire You will never, ever see an honest exchange like that on any Corporate "news" Media network. Also, notice how Ana has triggered the hell out of the misogynists who hate-watch TYT.
I don't find Ana respectful at all. She's openly frustrated, she accuses him of being "ridiculous". We're at a point where Ana is more polite with Ben Shapiro, than Cenk, her boss. Cenk is principled and lets her have her say. But she's not respectful at all.
@@LAinLA86what are you talking about? She is often quite passionate about the news she reads. Interesting how you feel about her reporting the news is bland. Particularly when she isn’t.
Greatly needed exchane. You also showed how to conduct yourself in an argument. Usually, I end up on one side. This time, I find Cenk and Ana are both right. The difference is their point in time. Cenk has beem fighting this all his life and probably exasperated. Ana doesn't have as many years on the battlefield. Again, they are both right, different perspectives. Thank you Cenk and Ana.
I agree with Anna and thank you Anna for addressing the problem "generalization". Cenk you need to take the anger and funny faces out of your commentary...... you might think more clearly.
Wow, Ana's political analysis is aging like fine wine. Her political analysis is getting better, more nuanced and fact-based with time. Ana for 2024!!!
I don’t understand what Anna is arguing for? The idea that we can win over these people with policy ideas only, is just wrong. the right wing does not even talk about policies.
Very good debate. Thanks. I'm with Cenk on this. Propangada makes it too difficult to use Ana's way. When you got a group among who more than 60% think it's ok to have criminals as representatives, then, starting your sentences with "republican voters" is fine. Plus, we do understand that Cenk doesn't means all republicans voters but the majority of them.
The point is that anyone who accidentally leaves their echo chamber by landing on a TYT video will immediately flee back once they're personally insulted. Acklowneleging someone else's point of view and how they came to it doesn't make you weak.
@@rileyc6757 When you talk to one person ( a family member or a friend) I would recommend Ana's way. But when you talk to millions of people, you need to use Cenk' strategy. It's not a question of weakness, it's just a question of efficiency. Unfortunately, fears works better on most people than logic. Sometimes the best defense is offense. Public shaming has disappeared from the republicans. They have been protected too much and behave like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory kids. Now they can on national tv, say antisemitic, racist stuff, tell they have killed black people and be treated as national heroes.
More than 60% don't think it's ok to have criminals as representatives. They think the Democrats are the criminals. And technically, many are, if you define taking bribes as criminal, but they have that in common with all of the Republicans in office.
Seriously one of the best shows you two have done. Incredibly important issue discussed. 100% agree with Ana, my take away is to not fall into the traps of using the same mental tactics that mainstream media uses for their viewers. Don't strawman, and be accurate... simple, love it! Naturally when Cenk is following those two principles he's spot on too. But he like to use logical absurdities to try to prove a point, but to Ana's point all he really does in those moments is entrench our divides. Brilliant episode!
How about this…JUST TELL PEOPLE THE TRUTH. Always. Every time. Tell leftists the truth. Tell right wingers the truth. If right wing voters are being idiots and believing fake news. Tell them that. Then bring them the facts. Don’t coddle them. Don’t try to protect their feelings. Just give it to them straight. Keep doing that and the rest will fall into place.
What's your method for determining which news is fake and which is truthful? In the 2000's did you believe the WMD story? When the gov said it wasn't spying on us did you believe them or Snowden?
@@nearthefarworld Are you capable of doing those things? Have you ever changed your core beliefs? Is there any doubt in you now that you might be wrong on a topic?
I have to go with Cenk on this one. I love Anna, but let's be clear: You can spend time debating whether sharks are dangerous or you can get the hell away from one in the water. You deal with the monster in front of you and try and stop the creation of new monsters in your free time. Cenk is saying "the right wing is what it is" and works to fight the legislation they are passing.
I guess you missed Ana's point. In order to beat the system (that's the core of the problem), you need as many people as you can get, left AND right wing. Beating that system is a collective goal, because it robs both sides blind. To get people to collaborate to get to that goal, you need to leave your differences out and focus on your shared goal. That's Ana's approach. Cenk just says, it doesn't matter because we have that same, collective goal. That's his take and that might be fine for him, but it doesn't work that way with most people. You just have to focus on that common ground, and insulting those people distracts from that shared goal.
@@richardbreur8862 I understood her point, but I don't agree with its alleged effectiveness. Anna wants to reach out to those in the right wing whom she believes have been deluded by the lies coming from the what Jon Stewart described as the "BS Factory" and work to bring them into the middle. Good luck with that. Those people are firmly entrenched in the muck of right wing ideology. The coalition we need is between those on the left and those independents in the middle. This is the point Cenk is making and, in terms of political affiliation and consensus voting strategies, he's right. Continue reaching out to right wingers while they take over state legislatures and push nationwide extremist legislation and you'll soon find yourself unable to challenge the legal consequences of their ideology.
@@richardbreur8862 OK, let's pretend right-wingers and left-wingers want to agree to work together on something but the right-wingers say they'll only work together if the left-wingers never talk about money in politics ever again...that kind of allegiance is counterproductive and stupid.

@@yarpenzigrin1893 Yo, be specific, dude. No generalisations here. Ben Shapiro says one thing and then does the complete opposite when it suits him. I can't take that idiot seriously.
I ceased calling people stupid decades ago. It's not productive and there are better ways to word/approach things. So in that sense, I agree with Ana. But that's about it, i'm with Cenk on this one.
Yeah the only reason I'm not going out of my way to insult them is because my breath is more valuable elsewhere, not because I'm worried about digging them deeper into their rabbit holes.. They hit bedrock a year or two back when one of them shat in the capitol building, if anyone remembers that
Seen it on some old videos, there was one where it was some college boys, I think the football team, they had a Google doc spreadsheet to rate all their female classmates based on hotness. Ana was basically screaming the entire video for the boys to be strung up by their toes lol
@@yarpenzigrin1893 Yeah right.. the right are massive snowflakes crying about everything every 5 minutes. Of course your "leaders" tell you what to think about the left, you have no idea how wrong you are. The entire right wing is made up of emotive talking points. You got conned.
On this debate, I am with Cenk. Sorry, Ana. She of course, made great points but if you watch only right-wing news, it is on you. You have to be open-minded enough to look at both sides. Just because they are ignorant and don't want to look for more news sources, doesn't mean we have to blame only their leaders... If they rise up and expect better from their leaders, they will change right-wing news. Look who they keep voting for... Monsters. No thanks, I blame the right-wing votes for being ignorant.
Exactly. Cenk can be scattered brained at times, but the reason he has this network is because he knew the "news" being reported on the left was crap. People who seek more credible news tune into tyt , but there is no option like this on the right. Remember when trump held government paychecks up? Government workers came on t.v and said trump was justified in doing so. They were ok with not being able to feed their family because trump said so. Ana thinks that by not insulting them, the door is left open for them to change their mind. If they are ok with not getting their paycheck, what can someone say to them to make them change their mind?
Lol what are you talking about. The whole issue with propaganda is that it's supposed to mislead people. They only watch right-wing news because they don't realize they're being brainwashed. If they did, they wouldn't watch it. Again, hence why it's called propaganda. Ana only made the point that if you constantly attack the ordinary republican, you only guarantee they stay in their bubble. They will never want to listen to people that berate them. And no you can't change everyone's opinion, but changing a small percentage can still have a huge impact in elections.
i think those on the left need to pick their battles. my experience fighting with family members taught me that it’s almost impossible to pierce the cognitive bubble the right lives in. The best we can do is at least be likable to them and then release the rage onto the politicians
I HAVE NEVER FOUND OUT (in 67 YEARS) ANY WAY TO TALK ANY SENSE TO A DEMOCRAT, correction, MINORITY, correction, HOMOSEXUAL, correction, HETEROSEXUAL, correction, ENTITLED MILLIONAIRE, correction, PENNILESS DAY LABORER which just goes to show what a rational, intelligent, well-educated and caring person I am with exceptional communication skills.
Anna wants to distinguish between the hateful, bigoted, powerful people and those who watch them and vote for them. If you can turn a blind eye to that and still align yourself with people who have those views, then what Anna's arguing is a distinction without a difference.
It's not like the Republican politicians hide their hatred and bigotry from their voters either. They are very clear in terms of their messaging and their voters still support them. It's pointless to spend time thinking about why people vote for that nonsense: they either support it directly or are fine with it to get tax cuts. If they are buying the lies that their right-wing media sources provide them that's on them. People can check out other news sources that counter that garbage. Do we now also have to play babysitters for adults who are ready to accept the framing that journalists are 'the enemy of the people'? And in what world is that the same as people being able to judge you based on what you say and do in society as a right-winger? Seems like Ana is ready to go towards the right. She wants us to not generalise about Republican voters? Only once they stop spewing lies about members of the LGBTQ community, about Muslims and other non-Christians, about women, about immigrants and about poor people.
This is the most heated debate I’ve seen Cenk and Anna get into in a really long time… but goddamn, if this wasn’t straight passion from both. I love how dedicated these two are to just simply doing the right thing. I effin love TYT
If you live in North Carolina, I bet you know plenty of 'R' voters. You probably have some in your own family. From my experience living far further south than you, 'R' voters seek out misinformation on purpose. They WANT to be manipulated and misled.
@johnadams1281 I'm a moderate/independent. Unfortunately, I'm stuck playing anti dictator instead of real democracy. I'm fiscally more progressive. But I accept the life I'm given and don't mind simple disagreement. I wasn't referring to that. However, I was talking about how rich people play us on each other while they rob us blind on all sides. And how most people are falling for it.

What you don’t want to do (what you should most definitely do when the occasion rises) is call them a Karen or a racist bc their sensitive little hearts can’t take that and in their eyes it’s much much worse then when they were just acting like a Karen or being racist the moment before
Anna seems to think that people who listen to only one side of a discussion are forced to do so. If anyone listens to only one side of a discussion it's because they want to. They want to only hear the things that they agree with and the things that make them feel good. Yes, we can blame media for being biased but it's still on the people that listen to them to find out the truth. They want the truth to be the thing that they already believe so they only listen to the noises that tell them that they're right. Leaders can't lead if people don't follow. While the "people at the top" are responsible for their part in starting culture wars but they can't have their war without soldiers. Both sides have more than enough soldiers standing ready and willing to engage. The people fighting the culture wars are just as much responsible as the people starting them.
There’s either a left or right side in this current politics and the Republican side has failed the globe with tax cuts and war, depressions and recessions, epidemics and pandemics. I have heard their side and I don’t think most of America would like it.
Also, the truth they choose to agree with is unsubtly bigoted in every way imaginable. Sadly, even when Cenk is being hyperbolic, it's not by much and has shown it with statistics. There's a lot of bad guys on the other side, not just misinformed, innocent little lambs.

Honestly I respect Ana for saying what she did. I've been a republican my entire voting life, and still consider myself conservative, but I like getting my news from sources that help me make an educated decision. Many of my friends are also conservatives and republicans, none of us have ever supported Trump, or the majority of the GOP leadership who are honestly liars and hypocrites. With that said, I also feel the same as Cenk, that when percentages of people who believe something is that high, and it's hard to believe that everyone doesn't deep down inside know they're following lies, to just blanket state the obvious. They just don't care if they lie. This is true as well... I bet money against friends who are on the right. They really just don't care and have zero shame about it... Is that Ana and Cenk? I don't get the metaphor. TYT aren't essayists and nobody reads more than 144 characters anymore.
Its hard but if you want to actually have some progress on this issue, you gotta do it. The problem a lot of people have is they think they need to find middle ground on THAT issue. If someone is a racist and you are black, you are not gonna find middle ground on that, but you can find middle ground on getting money out of politics, gun control etc. You may never find middle ground on climate change but you will be surprised to find middle ground on stopping the pollution. You may not find middle ground on student debt, but you will definitely find middle ground on not cutting social security. By not making the effort we are being part of the problem, Democracy is hard and it will continue to be run by corporations and not people if people check out because it is TOO HARD.
@@yarpenzigrin1893 You really haven't thought through what you said, not even at the most basic level. 'Exist if you need to . . . ?? 'They' Exist, and Are human. Af Ams+ & Africans 'exist' and they have a human right to, not simply 'if they need to' (??) and without the per se 'ability'/'luxury' to exist 'without you knowing about it.' That goes for any 'brown' people else- or any-where, or with ancestors or parentage from 'else where' that causes Such a Stuggle for too many 'whites' here in the US, or anywhere. It is absolutely medically Clear that these are as 'God made' humans as any 'white' anywhere. I don't know from your name that you, from Your country, country of origin or country of ancestor origin (or your language, belief, or religion) if the mere life on the ancestral globe of 'your people' causes you threat of violence or fair access to human 'need to exist' options, maybe some other 'allows' that you 'exist if you need to' as long they don't 'have to know' about it/you. Obviously Your awareness of twin-zygote studies/experience/information is unfortunately lacking from what you were foolishly implying. Too many years so called higher level countries used medical surgery at birth to hide resulting natural realities of life which are now being better understood how they occur, though the complexities still make outcomes less predictable. Those long early gender assignment surgeries often 'got it wrong' creating bad outcomes and social obliviousness in our society to forever occurring ranges, gene created. Other societies and cultures didn't do these type surgeries and people with 'differences' could have places in their societies. I had a work friend in my twenties, whose situation I didn't quite understand till these recent hate-mongering years caused me to do research for an informed opinion. Her younger brother ended up being a special case at the Mayo clinic because he was born "without equipment" it was said to me, ending up as initially life threatening. I met him when he was first in high school. I didn't really 'get it' back then as it wasnt my first attention as what today would likely be a 'right wing' oriented family struggled through things when their main concern was the health and well being was a child born that they loved. Have lost touch but I know he continued to regularly to go to Minnesota for medical issues. Not so long ago there was a report that a middle-aged man had hernia surgery and it was found he had a disconnected uterus causing his pain, apparently he had absorbed a female twin and this had never been suspected. There is more involved in all this then this culture yap takes in account. Just as today Henry the IIIVth could not behead another wife for not 'giving him a son' because today we know that it was his x/y sperm 'at fault' for that. Medical & DNA realities count for far more then our opinions, ignorance, or beliefs/religions do. Writings from times that didn't have medical facts to inform their writers' "explanations"/judgements don't get to upend the rights to life for humans born today. In some old Asian countries it used to be twins would be killed at birth because of the 'explanation' of the culture couldn't handle the why more than one baby occurred. It is our ignorance (and entitlement) that has to give way, not a person's human rights, just because someone else doesn't want 'to know about it.' Medical facts, whether nearness to the equator of ancestors for skin 'color' or DNA shifts in uterus are not choices, nor 'de-humanizers. Our society/nation/culture has to level up to reality. Facts are the lighthouse principles, we/beliefs/cultures are the 'ships' that have to give way.
That's not the point. The point is that you can't even attempt to persuade someone if you constantly berate them. It's already hard enough trying to get people to leave their echo chamber. Attacking them for doing it will ensure they will never see another point of view.
Anyone notice that ever since Ana's interview with Ben Shapiro, she's starting to pivot. I see her defending the otherside more often and now there's this false equivalence comparing the a mayor's statements about crime for Dem vs the actual crimes of the leader of the GOP is ridiculous. But when someone on the left decides they want to cash in the pivot is the first step.
good point, never considered that till I read your comment, but yes shes been pivoting more since that interview. While I agree with her on some points, like the Justice Dems being useless, I really dont think shes the best option as cohost, she just seems to struggle way too much in trying to get her point across, I always look forward to seeing John or Fran cohosting the main show, at least they're able to articulate themselves much better
Yes. ‘Crime’ is her Achilles Heel. She has bought into most crime is in blue areas ignoring the right wing policies that birth crime. She can see her disagreement in making blanket statements that right love crime, but she does the same thing by saying democrats don’t take crime seriously. Cenk is correct though.
If you want to create an echo chamber and propaganda machine to pump up the troops, Cenk is doing right. It's basically the same thing that Fox news is doing, but with a left twist. But you do not win hearts and get your point across by diabolizing the other side.
I was wondering if anybody else was sensing the correlation between that event and her sudden constant need to be "fair" to right wingers, I am not saying I completely disagree with her, but she is acussing Cenk to being purposely inflammatory but I liked when she was like that, remember when she had enough and said she was better than right wingers, no distinctions at all. And I also think she was right to say it the way she did.
@@maximeclermont6339 I don't think Cenk gives information that is EVEN CLOSE to as misleading as Fox. Fox is propaganda. TYT is news and commentary with a left lean, not outright lies.
I don’t really see the point Ana is trying to make. Why should we worry about policing our tone about republican voters specifically? Politics is about power. How exactly does this rhetoric harm our aim to achieve power?
Well, you see where not practicing such restraint has landed Fox.. so I think that's one reason.. but also you see how defensive a lot of them can be, to the point to where they might travel further down the rabbit hole if/when threatened. Like stinky stray cats, we cannot simply just remove them from the dumpster, we must lure them out w fake love and days old pizza -- the same way Fox got 'em initially
Politics is about power, the amount of voters determines the amount of power. Ana says it's more effective to get those from the other side in your camp. by focusing on the common ground, and not by calling them out on the differences.
@@EzPeasZ Fox “got them” because they appealed to their ideological biases, not because they were led astray. Fox News viewers aren’t the stay at home independents who came out for Bernie. They’re Christian conservatives who likes what fox has to say because it confirms their awful beliefs.

Ana is rarely well-prepared for debate and fails to listen. Cenk's worldview is more internally consistent. He understands that people with conservative mindsets (and those of an extreme left perspective) have their opinions wedded to their egos: any criticism is perceived as an attack and shuts down the ability to listen. People only change their minds when they feel they've discovered a new understanding themselves.

Cenk "Religion has turned some of you into monsters"
Ana "You love strawmanning, Cenk"
Ana "You're deliberately misrepresenting my views"
Sam Harris made all of these points in 2015 against Cenk but got criticised for this lol
I love Sam, but man does he get criticized a lot! Triggernometry totally set him up too.

I have heard their side and I don’t think most of America would like it.

it's pretty hard to find a middle ground with people who think you objectively should not exist
Exactly!

Ana is rarely well-prepared for debate and fails to listen. Cenk's worldview is more internally consistent.
