reserved a tx500h
TX is better for large families, GX is better for off-road enthusiasts, you can’t go wrong with either, both are fantastic
I better save $140k fast. Wife gets the TX and I get the GX. 😊
@@jml9550 I can’t blame you, they’re great cars!
GX550 is also great for families who live offroad too 😃
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD oh for sure but the TX is more spacious which is why I say large families will like it more compared to the GX
I small minority of GX buyers actually use them off road
Lexus came to party this year, they have dropped nothing but heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah no they didn’t 😂
They dropped the ball hard
@@naveenthemachine with the GX or TX?
@@braalo07 yeah they really underwhelm in the real world
Both of them are too little too late
@@naveenthemachine maybe you’re right but I think they made what consumers want based on their reactions. Sometimes consumers that’s not trying too hard but reliable. Based on consumer reactions I think they did a stellar job 😁
Too expensive for normal folks.
GX550 Overtrail+ for numerous personal reasons.
Same
Proven and get my full support to kept the truck based SUV still alive.
Personally I would prefer the GX.
The TX is for family hauler that I would have chosen the TX 10 years ago when my children were still teenagers.
One has huge interior room, one has great off-road capabilities.
best and fastest in the business of car review and car comparison! keep it up guys onto the 1mil subscriber!!
Thanks! Will do!
Thank you Car Concoctions!
GX FTW. true SUV vs crossover that blends in with literally every other crossover.
When yall drop these videos it’s like Christmas morning. Hahaha
Great vid!!
TX better for me, because it is hybrid, better looks, more space, more comfortable ride
I would choose the GX any day.
Thanks for this and other reviews. The sound pressure level reading is one of the most important criteria for me when selecting a luxury vehicle. Thank you very much for including those objective numbers in your reviews!
Many reviewers pay absolutely no attention to the cabin noise factor in an objective manner.
Glad you find it helpful! Thanks for being a fan of the channel!
Great review! Have to side with the TX for the family oriented capability, cargo space, and ride quality. But man, that GX looks sharp! Thanks for reviewing both of these side by side.
appreciate the sound level reading / cabin noise measurements.
this is the comparison many of us want to see. great job
Thanks!
So the TX sound levels was on a smooth road & the GX was on a rougher one?
You forget to mention the TX Dynamic Rear Steering can add a slight steering angle to the rear for turning radius.
I bought GX550 for 72k no taxes
I'm happy with it
TX is selling under MSRP
Cheaply built in US
There’s no markup??
I wonder if there are some accessories to make the TX look taller, boxier and more rugged (like roof rack and grill cover)?
Great job as always, guys! And this was a perfect comparison for my wife and I, as these are the 2 models we are considering. But I still have a few questions: how is the seat comfort in each? My understanding is that the sporty TX has more aggressive seats that the regular TX. Also, we currently own a 2022 RX 450hl. We love the car, the 6 cy engine and ride, and the look of this beautiful car. But, the swooping design that makes it so beautiful causes me to have to duck my head when I get in the car, even though I am only 5'9". I know that wouldn't be an issue for the GX, because of it's body design, but I'm wondering if it would be an issue with the TX. I haven't seen one at the dealership yet. Thanks as always!
Thanks! Seat comfort is very good, minus the missing 4-way lumbar and thy extension on both. Also, bigger people will not like the TX F-Sports narrow seats
@@CarConfections Thank you, guys!
GX: Made in Japan at legendary Tahara Plant. Mic dropped.
And where is TX made in?
@@HKnK8 Indiana
@BunderaKZT did not know that.. now GX seems like more obvious choice then. Thanks for the info.
@@HKnK8 GX & LX (Land Cruiser) built to last 30+ years in third world countries with lack of service network. They are also the vehicle of choice of the UN (and unfortunately terrorists for the same reason).
@@HKnK8 GX & LX (Land Cruisers) are built to last 30+ years in third world countries where there are lack of service network. They are UN vehicle of choices for the same reason.
The gx is just absolute perfection. The design, functionality, tech, build quality all look top tier. Also, given its Lexus, and fhe features and style provided, i genuinely think its priced quite fairly especially in this insane car market where the avg car is like 45k
I love both of them, I don’t know which one I would pick
What do you think miles per gallon will be in overtrail hybrid
Good comparison 👍👌
GX 550 Overtrail + ..... for the boxy looks & off road capabilities.
And get a Grand Hilander for the space 😅.
Awesome detailed comparison. I would love to hear your comparison of the TX vs Audi sq8.
excellent comparison video..thank you
Glad you liked it!
GX all day lockers is the game changer.
What I really want is the TX interior/size/space with GX exterior looks and capability but without the LX price tag. Like a true Yukon/Tahoe competitor.
In that case, u may want the upcoming new GMC Acadia. For the money, it comes pretty loaded actually.
You're asking for too much in a Japanese vehicle.
yeah but doesnt come with the guaranteed toyota reliability that lexus's have@@normanli7085
@@jraheemjefcoat429 Japanese manufacturers will only go all out if it is priced as high as its German competitors. Actually, the Lexus GX competes directly with the Mercedes G-wagon, but if we talk about luxury, the G-wagon is indeed more luxurious because the G-wagon is also priced at twice the price of the GX series, but if you only use the offroad features, the GX is more worth it than the G-wagon in terms of price.
8:23 to me this is personal preference. I'd rather have an opening sunroof then a fixed one even with the opaque glass option.
So far I would pick the GX in the video. If it has the GX panoroof it would've been perfect for me.
Thank you Car Concretions.
?
I’m sure both will hold their value for a very long time, the box on frame will probably be a bit more resistant to depreciation
I love both of these cars. For us, i think we would take the TX especially because of the PHEV version. Great video
Idky but the PHEV TX just seems like the perfect car for your family based off your videos and comments, I’d highly recommend it
I love both of these cars too but I would go for the sportier MDX or a X5 if the lack of 3rd row isn’t an issue (Cayenne is great too but a lot more expensive)
@@CarGeek360 u mean X7, because the x7 third row is more comparable to the TX
@@normanli7085 I meant X5 also I’ve been in a X7 before and it surprisingly has less legroom than our MDX, my parents cross-shopped the MDX, QX60, Q7, and X7 (all 2023 ones) back in 2022 so I am pretty familiar with those 4 vehicles (safe to say we love our MDX but if we needed another 3-row we’d def go for a X7), my parents are looking to either get a new X5 or Cayenne bc we want to get rid of our old QX60 but ofc we’re not selling our Acura anytime soon
I would choose the GX
Excellent comparison, happy Sunday!😸
Have a great week!
Lexus tx for me
You gotta a family of 3 and 4?
Did you mention the actual fuel economy ? I must have missed that
All these cars are the first edition so how they proof of reliability of these with new engines?
the TTV6 came out in 2017 on the LS... the GX550 drivetrain is 7 years old now...
Nice review, nice cars but too bad they are too darn expensive for normal people.
The TX has a much better third row than in the GX from Lexus.
Isn't the TX and the Grand Highlander the same vehicle?
yes basically
Faster as the tie breaker where it would be towing capacity for me. Give me the GX. Love my 2015 luxury so it'll be a while before i need to consider anything newer.
I’d just buy a tx500h over a gx bc the gx won’t be available for a while and the tx has an available hybrid powertrain + more room
Lexus also offers the TX 550h+ which is a PHEV, so unless you are really using it for off-road trips, the answer is the TX.
7:38 speaker already sounds blown
Hi brothers. I want to buy a full size sedan. Can you tell me tge best full size sedan in 2024.plz❤
I would recommend Lexus Ls ,if you don’t care about ambient lighting and screens everywhere these sedan is the best .reliability and drive quality not less then similar vehicles and also price more less compare with other full size sedans .
@@georgep995 ok I am going to check it
Good comparison, but please spend a few more seconds comparing the cargo areas. These vehicles are SUVs meant to carry cargo as well… suitcases, skis, boxes, costco items, etc. Would be nice to see how they compare in terms of width, height, and length for holding cargo.
Thanks for the note! We spend more extensive time talking about cargo areas in the full reviews, including self measuring
What is the car at the end of the video? The Coupe?
The New 2024 Mercedes CLE Coupe!
Can you guys review the TX PHEV
I’d love to see that, I’m not a PHEV guy if I had to get a PHEV (unlimited budget), it’d be a TX or a CX90, the BMW and Porsche ones are nice too but I’d be too concerned about reliability
@@CarGeek360 for a phev you should get an xc90.
@@naveenthemachine unreliable also my friend’s mom used to have one and I didn’t like it, also I’m just talking hypothetically, I’m not in the market for a PHEV rn, your points never make any sense naveen
@@CarGeek360 is it going to be unreliable from day 1 or year 3? Absolutely not
Any car will last 5-6 years minimum as long as you take care of it
Plus the xc90 phev is actually cheaper than the tx550h and it’s only $2k more than the tx500h. Yet the Volvo has significantly more power much better performance and better EV range and fuel economy is similar to the tx550h but better than the tx500h
@@naveenthemachine I already confirmed that you are NOT a trustable person when it comes to cars from day 1 😊
Taking the fight to utilitarian sides would easily double up the GXs points, this was mostly an on road comparison, but most of em are mostly gonna be seen on road, so
Yeah, the better road car the TX
Take your Tx to Moab and have a blast
Small design opportunity missed with the TX. The single beam headlights look less Lexus and more Subaru… anyone else see it?
Tx is kinda narrow based on Highlander. If TX is your thing, I’d take the tx350 w the smaller price tag. Gx has better proportions and better powertrain
The GX is my spirit animal! I love the boxy design without the utilitarian interior. Give me the life of luxury! It's just has a presence about it. It commands attention on the road. The TX is too subdued for me. Too Wisteria Lane Desparate Housewives for me.
Many of these reviews do not touch on how great the GX is for towing.
TX for moms. GX for everyone else
TX F-Sport
Lexus Texas baby
🤔Lexus GX, I can’t wait any longer, I’m buying something else...just haven’t figured out what to buy.
What's more reliable? An underpowered 4 cylinder in big SUVs, or that underpowered 4 cylinder with an electric motor helping it out?
Gx 550 looks amazing compared to boring looking design language from the TX
The GX for quite a few reasons for me. While the TX is definitely larger on the inside, the GX isn't exactly lacking. I actually think the interior will feel more airy due to just how boxy the GX really is.
Then the elephant in the room with the TX: The GH Platinum is a better buy. The TX's interior doesn't scream Lexus and for nearly $80K, I'd check out an X5, GLE, MDX Type-S, or even a loaded JGC Summit Reserve over the TX. The GX is the Land Rover Defender that doesn't break down. While I wish Lexus did more with the interior(which is the case for most of their vehicles except the LC500, which is a stunning environment), it checks most boxes and certainly elevates over the previous-gen(although I wish the V8 was still on offer with some sort of power and fuel efficiency boost).
U should also throw in the X7, GLS, Navigator, Escalade, GW too since the PHEV approaches those prices
Neither interior screams Lexus and yes shame they didn’t retune the V8; the lack of KDSS but for the top models is a shame also.
The GX only makes sense for the very small percentage of people who actually need off road capability or who tow huge loads. Most people will use these as mall crawlers and the TX is better suited for that.
The GX looks like a Land Cruiser
Because it is: an LC 250 (or LC prado in other markets)
I wish the GX had a 3rd that actually works. That 3rd row is useless, I guess I'll go TX.
👌🏽
Lexus Texus
Trying to get a gx but every Lexus dealer around me has 300+ on the waiting list already, maybe 2025
I was hoping to just go see one but I doubt it
Ya this is great but you can’t even buy the GX 550!!!! So it’s no contest. The TX! You can buy it. Hell
Get the GX end of discussion
it is staggering how much the redesigned GX has come up in price! I'll stick to the gx460 until they refine any kinks, if any, with that turbo
I would say that price jump is worth it man, this GX550 is one of the sought after SUVs of the decade
local dealer told me they have 4 coming in and 70 people on waiting list@@braalo07
The GX is going to have a Japanese built 3.5TT much like the LS500. There's not been many issues with the LS500's powerplant.
GX
Highlander vs 4runner. 😂 Body on Frame vs. Unibody
Overall pricing of these
Vehicles is absurd when you have to add Taxes and Dealer and Deliver
Now close to $88,000
Even if I had that kind of money I would not waste it on something like that
Totally ridiculous 😝😝😝
Love that GX. Looks better. If it runs like the previous GX models, it should run better than the TX, which is just a Highlander. I’d rather buy a limited Grand Highlander than to spend the extra month for the Lexus badge. There’s no substitute for the GX. The new Land Cruiser is much smaller
GX has a useless third row and it is still thirsty, most of the people that I know who had a GX was for show off and now they all will go to TX.
The TX looks so like a Toyota and so unlike a Lexus.
GX is capable offroad but not luxury level
For that price i would get a cpo BMW X7 2019-2022.
And a life time warranty
Used bmw with allot of issues,go get it 😁
@georgep995 BMW are in the top 5 most reliable brands because of their B58 engines. I have a 2020 M340i with 250K miles on it(yes, I have to drive alot). I've posted my odo on the Beemer forum to prove it as well.
The GX looks more mansome. The TX looks more momsome.
Tragic, no V8. Putting high stress, highly boosted engines, in heavy vehicles. What cold go wrong?
The front, grill of the TX looks real ugly. I wish Lexus did a better job of designing it. 😮
Hard disagree
TX 550h plus comes with V6 naturally inspirated engine that will last longer than any other configuration. So TX is the winner in reliability
Nope, that's the 550h+, not the 500h.
The 550h+ also comes with a damn CVT, which immediately disqualifies it for me.
For a luxury car. I think Toyota sequoia is way more luxury looking in the interior than these 2 cars. And thats sad
I don’t entirely agree but I do love the two-tone color scheme in the Seqouia Capstone interior
Sequoia cargo space and rear functionality a hard pass due to battery placement. Sadly.
@@rayandolina11 that’s interesting but ik a few UA-camrs have complained about it so I’m sure it’s a valid zonk (as Joe Rati from Rati’s Rides likes to say)
I love the look of Sequoia…just can’t get past that issue. Can’t even fit two Twinkies behind the third row!
@@rayandolina11 that’s def exaggeration but your point is valid, I do think Toyota should’ve done a better job with cargo space behind the 3rd row if the new Seqouia
The plastic and suede is junk. I’m disappointed in Lexus’ lack of luxury these days. I passed on a TX because of it.
¡BOTHMF!
In general, neither of them LOL
We all know you were gonna say this, at least you didn’t type up a useless lecture full of invalid reasoning this time around 😂
Troller
@@seikocitizenwatches fr, he devotes his life to this 😂
😹😹😹, it's just sad at this point. Like anytime I see his comments I do laugh 😹😹@@CarGeek360
@@Investor_philips I laugh too lol, I sometimes even show my friends (that naveen probably envies bc he very likely doesn’t have any) who are also into cars his comments so they can laugh too 😂
Can't you just throw off-road tires on a TX to increase the height and the performance off-road
no. GX is a true suv... TX is a "crossover" SUV
Nah the TX is unibody. The GX is body on frame
@@CK-1000 I'm not quite sure what that means but why can't you just throw on all-terrain tires? And if you can, won't that lift the car a little bit and offer better performance off-road?
@@user-rw7xd7qy3j unibody vehicles are not great for off roading. Body on reframe vehicles are much better for that. And the TX wasn’t built with the suspension elements for off roading
The GX550 is NOT an SUV though. TX vs the new RX is the correct comparison to make.
I like the TX better cause yo gurl not doing any silly off roading. I got too much wiggle jiggle and everything in the middle for that nonsense!!! But I still prefer my Bimmers, Benzs and Bentleys boo!!!
