That was pretty impressive dancing (and playing!). How did you place? And are all those backflips etc. traditional moves or is it something more modern? I know that halling is fairly acrobatic, but I've never seen someone do a backflip kick in a halling before ;)
MrFair its a dance orinally made to impress your lady. There are some basics you need to implement to call it halling, but the point in earlier days was to improve and make new moves all the time.
0wizardofoz0 Yes, I know that - but I'm interested in whether this backflip kick can be seen as part of the "basic" (albeit quite an advanced basic move ;) ) which people have done for quite some time or if it is something that he has brought to the dance. Both options would be equally interesting/cool!
MrFair Hi there! The headspin and most of the moves are done in our tradition for more than 100 years. The first hat kick is a personal variant I've made. I find it interesting to aim for personal moves which fits the dance as well as they might have been traditional...
frikar Thank you for your answer! I play traditional dance music myself (I focus on the Swedish music, but I'm also really interested in the Norwegian traditions), so that's why I am interested. It's always interesting to get to know more. And being able to mix new and personal stuff with traditional techniques is something that I really like about these kinds of traditions :)
Thrilling. Since I was told I descended from Hallings!
Som alltid spektakulært å se og høre på. Tempoet var slik at jeg så tydelig hvor vanskelig dette må være. Flott på alle måter. dB
This makes me miss Norway more than ever. I am going back there, and I am going to build that hytte in the mountains.
Flytta du tebakje å bygde hytta de?😊
I love the way it sounds... its so... medieval, makes me thirsty for beer :D
Wonderful!
Ja, detta må e si va ein imponerande dans. Stå på! :)
Where i can get this wonderful music?
