The fact that we get free documentaries from National Geographic on UA-cam is priceless.., keeping the education and knowledge alive. 👍
May I also remind you of the fact that our Native American population in our motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLION! A shockingly sad truth.
In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners Native American people.
Notorious global cardinal crimes the Christian West has committed, and benefited a great deals, such as Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask? 😔
A gift from Nat Geo!
Educational.
You pay with your time.
It's better than schools now adays bc the education system in the states it's just laughable. You can tell by just caunting how many maga sheep's 🐑🤦 i mean fan's there are around the whole country. 🤦😂😂😂😂
Their documentaries are perfect.
I watched this episode on my cable Nat.Geo channel. I watch it again any chance I get. Our music awards are called Juno awards, after D-Day’s Juno Beach. James Doohan, a Canadian soldier and original version Star Trek’s Scotty, lost his right middle finger (poetic justice in action) on Juno beach on D-Day! 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
7:30 my granduncle was a Lieutenant (second in command) on a German submarine in WWII. They were send to disrupt the invasion fleet during the Normandy landings. Before he departed he told my grandfather "If I return, I'll become an Admiral', knowing how unlikely his return would be. He never returned and their fate was classed as a mystery wreckage of WWII for a long time. I believe they have only recently changed that status.

Thank you National Geographic for making it free. My grand father was in the navy during world war 2

This was a surprising part of the German defence they could bring out a range of weapons never imagined
It’s just crazy that in 20 years we’ll be telling our grandkids this happened 100 years ago.

Good video but some theories were presented as facts without any sustentations. I did enjoy the video.
Lesson: using the team's precise 3D data...
My childhood question is why didn't the battleships raze the bunkers to the ground but instead allowed all these casualties.
Question, where they stored the drained see water? And how,? Who did it. Its just 3 d isn't it?
17:48 they are self-propelled artillery... this programme isn't made for an adult audience, is it?
No new revelations here!
Everything found was already known..
it's not the greatest. Its among the greatest. Dont forget the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. The largest naval battle in history
The question with the most obvious answer, and the most asked in my opinion is "was it worth it?" Well if you're not a handful of German's still living on barowed time, YES!!! Anything and much more is worth the entire world in the hands of a bunch of narcissistic psychopaths. However the question I would ask is could the whole thing have been prevented and how??? Why is that not the absolute most asked question since the end of the war? Second only to how to break our reliance on nuclear and fossil fuels???

These are interesting shows but it gets a bit old how many times they have to say "as the waters drain away...." Like dude we get it just get on with it.

Amen
Fact (censored by USA): Germans would have liquified all the D-Day landers had it not been for Russia. 80% Germans were busy fighting Russia. Only a fraction of Germans were at the Normandy coast. And even this small fraction caused huge casualties among the Americans and British.
National Geographic, unfortunately, will not tell you the truth. American and British survivors of D-Day owe their lives to Russians.
I love Drain the Oceans. Love video about the mystery deep ocean

If you remove the drama yhos could be a great video
This episode was awesome, and watching the drama unfurl and then the aftermath of it was really intriguing. Oh, and your spelling is atrocious. "yhos"? That is two mistakes in one simple word.
Was in Omaha beach three days ago. So much respect and unique mixed emotions . I got an incredible Normandy guide gentleman who showed me everywhere I knew everything about D Day .

*M7 PRIEST GUN FACT CORRECTION*
During the early stages of World War II, US Army observers realized that they would need a self-propelled artillery vehicle with sufficient firepower to support armored operations. Lessons learned with half-tracks (such as the T19 Howitzer Motor Carriage (HMC) with a 105 mm howitzer on the M3 Half-track chassis) also showed that this vehicle would have to be armored and fully tracked. It was decided to use the M3 Lee chassis as the basis for this new vehicle design, named T32. The pilot vehicles used the M3 chassis with an open-topped superstructure, mounting an M2A1 105 mm howitzer, with a machine-gun added after trials.
The T32 was accepted for service as the M7 in February 1942 and production began that April. The British Tank Mission had requested 2,500 to be delivered by the end of 1942 and a further 3,000 by the end of 1943, an order which was never fully completed.
As the M4 Sherman tank replaced the M3, it was decided to continue production using the M4 chassis (the M4 chassis was a development of the M3). The M7 was subsequently supplanted by the M37 105 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage (on the "Light Combat Team" chassis that also gave the M24 Chaffee light tank).

Very good documentary, but I find the tone of voice and the music very sensationalist. It sometimes feels like a cheap TV documentary... This is just my opinion ;)
It amazes me how ineffective the whole bombardment was.
Looking at footage you would think that nothing would be left standing but the Germans were.

Concerning T.C. 34.42 ( central communicationship) and T.C 5.24 : It is nowadays very well known that the Germans had (r.a. 1943) antigravitation-craft at their disposal, by British pilots nicknamed 'fou-fighters'! Could this kind of wartactics have been used at these points?? A steady point of 'dropping' at a very high altitude, out of radarcontroll? is possible than?
