My first bike build was all done with your videos mate. Thank you so very much. Always crystal clear and most importantly explaining the torque settings every time. Your video capturing technique is simple and always cover the most important stuff your doing. Really appreciate you videos. I found this new hobby.
Thank you, thought I was going mad. Could not understand the instructions supplied. Spent two hours turning it this way and that, should have come to you first!
As always:, well explained, nothing left out, very helpful for bike maintenance. You take your time, but that's necessary if you don't want to make mistakes tending your precious bike. Thanks!
I am performing this exact procedure, with the exact same kit, on a Cannondale Quick 4 (Tektro calipers) The bolts trough the frame into the caliper seem to have a fixed washer on them. Much thinner than the ones in the kit. I just wanted to see if I was on the right track Great vid! Thanks for sharing.
Nicely explained, cheers!! By the way, I had to install the thick washers -the ones that came with the adapter - between the adapter and the caliper, disc would rub the top part of the caliper without the washers in there.
Cheers for the video, I’m doing the reverse & going from 160 to 140 so hopefully all the bolts fit & there’s enough movement in the the hydraulic pipe to allow me to do this👍
@@ulop1599 hi, yes the original bolts worked fine. They bolt the adapter plate to the chain stay in the 160mm disc format, when you reduce to 140mm the bolts go through the chain stay directly into the calliper as you no longer require the adapter plate👍
Hi there. Thank You for sharing an useful how to do guide on this adapter. However, I have a question: those 2 silver washers that go with 2 longer screws into the frame brake mount; do those washers need to go all the way in inside the frame or just slightly touch the outside of mount area while keeping both screws snug ?
hi there, thanks for nice video. What is the size of the longer bolt ? mine got loose thread, Im gonna need a longer bolt at least 1 1/5 inch. pls advise. thanks
What screws lenght did you get in the end? I am just about to build new bike and switching to 160 rotos but confused about screws lenght 🤔 Any feedback is appreciated
Tried.the 160 then.went back to 140. I'd consider going to 160 again.for bike touring in the hills with extra weight.because you do get a boost to the braking.
Hi, great video as usual, I was going to put some Shimano deore brakes onto a CX bike for my son as he can't cope with drop down bars, I assume the process would be the same when putting them onto a flat mount frame and forks or is there a special adapter required? Many thanks!
His using the 2 bolt who come with the plate and reuse the same long bolt with the new washer from the box to fix the caliper+plate to the frame. He say it in the video at 5:15.
Hello, i have a giant TCR advanced pro 1 disc 2020, I have front 160mm with adaptor, and I need to convert in to 140mm, but I need a adaptor and I don't know witch is. SM-MA-R140PDA it's ok ?
I lose my small safety clip at rear caliper and no idea where to buy or get one of those...is it alright to run without that small safety clip? I saw on the caliper there is little hole to place that little safety clip...the hole is go through to the other side of caliper and looks like does nothing to hold... Anyone have any idea?
I switched to 160mm and what a mistake! The brakes are entirely to easy to lock up. I weigh 150 so maybe a heavy guy would find them fine. I have decades of experience road racing and riding, so it is not a lack of skill.
You make simply the best how-to videos on bikes. They’re always simple and straight to the point, yet completely thorough with no missing info.
You remind me to put the washers, I didn't find any use for them. Now I know. Merci beaucoup pour la vidéo.
And the clip, I just watch the video to the end!

Exactly the info I needed just when I needed it. Super clear instructions🎉

Ah your a star for making this video... Cheers mucker.
Finally just got round to doing this installation but TRP callipers. Even simpler. Thanks. Very helpful. Five minute job. Cheers
Starting my first Di2, 8070 build this week and I must have watched 4 hours of your videos already - spot on mate.
Thank you so much for this video... i was installing this adapter trying to use the printed Shimano pdf.. your video is sooooo much better😉😊💪💪
Great vidio !! are all the mounting bolts the same size ? need to replace mine thanks really enjoy your vidios
Dude, thank you so much...I was about to call my frame manufacturer to get a warranty, turns out I just was doing this completely wrong.

Great vid! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for explaining the right way i Learned a lot.👌👌
Many thanks for this video. Just built my first bike with discs and wondered why my 160 disc wasn’t going into the calliper!😂
Very helpful channel 👍

Agree. Had the same experience.
Thank you mate, was very helpful!
Your videos are fantastic and have been a HUGE help!
great video easy to follow thanks
Thanks for the vid. Just about to do this so very useful.
Another Great informative video. Thanks 👍🏻

hi sir, i'm also thinking of doing the same, did the bolts fit properly without having to buy shorter bolts? thanks!

Thanks for the video! I forgot the pin and snapped it :/
Great video thank you

Are you still using the 140mm? Road bike? I’m preparing my first ever road disc build (campy) and considering 140mm front and rear.

Kenneth you can keep the flat mount calipers and just change the levers! The flat mount calipers will work fine with flat bar mtb brake levers!
@@FreeToCycle thanks, I may try the post to flat mount f and r adapters first as it may be a lower cost option for me. Love the videos.
I didn't use the 2 silver washers. Will this be ok?
I'm baffled I have mtb same setup rear flat platform ! What adaptor do I get??
Nice video
I have a giant propel 2019! 140 to 160mm rotors. Do i just need to flip may stock adapter? Or do i need to buy ?
For the front brake you can flip the adapter round!
What size are the 2nd set of bolts you installed? And do I need to use those specific bolts?
His using the 2 bolt who come with the plate and reuse the same long bolt with the new washer from the box to fix the caliper+plate to the frame. He say it in the video at 5:15.
👍👍👍
is the Shimano XT flat mount BR-8110 same as Durace BR-R9170-R ?
No, it is the same style caliper as the grx 810 flat mount!

To change the front disc from 160 to 140mm you just turn the adaptor upside down!

What is the product number for the adapter kit please…
SM-MA-R160 D/D
Need adapter post mount to flat mount
