“The angel who distributed the branches demanded them back. He called people, they approached in the same order in which they received, returned the branches. The angel of the Lord received them and examined them. From some he received dry, as if moth-eaten branches, and he commanded those to stand apart; those who returned the branches dry, but not touched by moths, also stood apart. Those who brought half-dry and cracked branches, and those whose branches were half dry, half green, especially stood up. Some returned branches two-thirds dry and one-third green; and some are the opposite: two-thirds green and one-third dry. The angel also placed them separately. Others served branches completely green, and only a small part of them, the very top, was dry and cracked. And in other branches there was very little green. And most people had the same green branches as they got them; The angel was very happy with them. Others gave branches green and with young shoots, the Angel also accepted them with great pleasure. Some had green branches with new shoots and fruits on them. The men returning such branches came with a very pleased look, and the Angel himself was very cheerful, and the shepherd also rejoiced.
