One thing confuses me. Fefe gets banned constantly despite being very careful but that's because she's been banned for being lewd before. Her caution built up overtime. Mega is practically 100% seiso until you put her in a bikini. Then there's Cotton who has never been banned once despite so many close calls. She has a beach outfit too. She's not had underwear on on stream. She has showed her naked sunburn pics and has constant sex jokes yet she is completely untouched by the banhammer. I love Cotton but I don't get why she isn't a banhammer magnet

It's such great examples side-by-side that it seems like the rules are being enforced entirely inequally. If everyone got treated the same in EITHER direction, it would be reasonable. Because then we'd know where the standpoint on the matter was. We'd *know* the expectations. They don't. They clearly don't.

Obviously the twitch mods like cotton and sinder. Which I'm hoping people don't conclude "well, this is somehow their fault others are getting banned" instead of blaming staff for both picking favorites and being dogmatically Puritan with everyone else. Its not the fault of streamers who they give special treatment. Vtuber or Irl. It's on the business owners to fire staff that act like simps to certain people on the platform

You know how space marines from 40k are basically the only faction that matters and does... anything of any relevance at this point because they have been in this cycle of popularity rise, publicized more, rinse and repeat till we got to this piece of shit situation? That, but apply it to a buncha loosers who get a b*ner from one fake ass virtual persona, but not for another.

Tbh as much as I like Cotton I’m wondering that too.
Lily and Mega are not known for being lewd or border from being explicit yet they got banned over something little. Poor Fefe is constantly fighting Twitch and YT for banning and age restricting her.
Yet Cotton has been completely untouched despite that there are times where she has pushed TOS to its limit.
Sinder tbh I don’t really know. Sinder doesn’t shy away from being explicit but she does give off very seiso vibes.

    Also:
Apparently I missed a tweet where Megalodon states that she purposefully made her outfits TOS friendly, so there's also that. I wouldn't think a partnered creator would lie about that, especially when vtubers are being shot down right and left. So, according to her statements, I am wrong in saying that her outfit(s) could be against Twitch TOS. But all the IRL streamers can still broadcast what is essentially soft-core p*** with no issue. This is all fantastic, isn't it?

Hate to point this out but there are clips that show she'd been straight up say things like "this is an educational twitch experience" as she shows the jiggle of the thighs and a close up of her waist and crotch without the dress on.
Love vtubers and yeah they should be just as hard against non-tubers, but if you're paying chicken with the ToS and you get banned for flying too close to the proverbial sun, you can't really cry about being burnt. Debut, subathon, hell even charity streams, doesn't matter you still gotta play by the rules of the streaming platform you're using, regardless on if you agree with them or not. Especially for vtubers, who all should know by now they're under a magnifying glass.

I mean, when you look at the double standard they have going I can imagine their thought process is vtuber is animated = animation = cartoon= for children and therefore they believe that vtubers should have cartoon rules applied to them to keep it "pure" and "safe" for the kiddos.

By all rights, none of these social media "platforms" actually fit the definition of section 230 protection. The rules and politics behind the "platforms" clearly push into editorializing the content.
You can't claim to be a "free platform" when people can't say things that you don't like.
These companies want to have their cake and eat it too, but that was never what section 230 was meant to be about.
Section 230 is meant to protect companies like the phone companies from being liable for what their customers use their service for. It was not meant to protect entities that employ teams of content moderators.

A few reasons come to mind as to why the double standard exists. It's been proven that multiple leading staff members (including the CEO) are following many of the more adult women streamers, indicating bias and favouritism within the staff. To add to that, some staff seem to be quite anti-anime and there have been some expressing they would prefer if v-tubers weren't on the site (I'd even go as far as claim I've seen borderline xenophobic sentiments towards Asians in general but I can't recall where on twitch I saw it, so take that with a grain of salt) so that probably doesn't help.
It's also not a secret that there are people going around reporting v-tubers for simply being v-tubers, and twitch has banned people for this before. Remember seeing this one dude on twitter being real proud over having gotten a v-tuber banned off twitch and pretty much every other platform through mass report, and went on some unhinged rant about how they were a new Metal Gear or something, and how they would go after others like ShyLily and the like over some kind of vendetta over youtube and double standards. Was also weirdly obsessed with bass. Most might not be that unhinged but I wouldn't be surprised of less unhinged people like that were also going around reporting v-tubers over nothing.

I used to search for those Hot Tubs etc "streamers" just to go there and see how many I could find that were 100% against Twitch TOS and still not banned, making money, etc... I was banned from multiple chats, ofc, bcs I don't just go there and see, I actually talk about what they are doing. something like "hey, isn't this against TOS? since you're almost naked", stuff like that, bam, I'm banned for... idk lol.
Well there were some cases that I completely remember, two of them specifically. One was a girl almost naked, wearing a rlly tight and small bikini, with an inside pool behind her, I realized there was no water, and I said it in the chat like "hey... there's no water on the pool", and she just said "oh just pretend that there is", this is the same as saying "yeah I'm going against Twitch TOS but eh, just ignore it" literally in the same platform. And that was my next message "you do know that's against Twitch TOS right?", guess what? I got banned. It's like they don't even care anymore, as long as their channel is up and money is going in their bank accounts, everything is fine.
The other streamer I remember, was basically in a bathroom, she had a small ball and a basketball basket toy behind her in the bath right? You know what she was doing THE WHOLE TIME? Throwing the ball to the basket toy, turning around, raising her hips to pick up the ball and then just go back and do the same thing. Wearing panties btw, I think she was wearing a shirt at the moment, and that was all she was doing, throwing a ball to the basket toy behind her, picking up the ball, and talking about some random stuff. I was in the chat trying to talk with her about it, and obviously she was playing dumb, keeping herself in character, not answering me, just saying things like "idk what you're talking about" and stuff like that.
One thing that I want to add about all these streamers, you join their streams and they are talking about something, some of them make it seem like they are actually just chilling and talking and whatever, but honestly, you just take a look at the chat and it's just a bunch of horny guys that want the attention of a "hot girl" and keep on complimenting their "features" instead of actually talking to them, and they don't get banned, but one guy saying that they shouldn't be doing something they are doing bcs it's against Twitch TOS gets banned. Also, they are allways in sexually alluring positions, like laying down and raising her hips, leaning over with a rlly tight bikini, having a mirror behind them so that chat can look at their "assets", stuff like that. Reminder that you need to be 13 years old to have a Twitch Account, so basically, Twitch is fine with exposing this type of soft p*** to 13 YOs. BUT SHOWING A BIT OF SKIN IN A VTUBER MODEL IS A BIG NO NO!!!

They would need to sort out their ban algorithm. 75% (if not more) of bans are done by the algorithm reacting to reports without any human interaction whatsoever. It seems to mostly be from bot reporting or something probably, and appeals are often shut down because they never take the time to actually yanno investigate. If only this double standard could be done the same for like those RL streamers and get them taken down en-masse then it would be a fair (if harsh) system. Then Twitch as a platform would start hemorrhaging money and would back off on their policies. Equally. (hopefully). But when they implement this with such a double standard it just becomes an unjust system.

Twitch at this point has become such a horrible platform. For *so* long they've picked and choosed who to punished, and rarely enforce rules unless they have a grudge or people complain enough.
Their is a *reason* why a number of people think Twitch moderation are a massive joke. They don't follow their own rules, and blatantly play favorites.

Considering how much money Vtubers draw in vs irl streamers, one could argue that Twitch clearly doesn’t want all that money.
It could not be more clear that for whatever the reason(s), Twitch has a very obvious bias against Vtubers. A competitor with no bias needs to come about. Or perhaps even a Vtuber-exclusive competitor. Twitch would either have to adapt or eat the L.

  • @dsproductions19
    @dsproductions19 3 місяці тому +1

Honestly, I feel like the vtuber-specific rules are extreme and Twitch should apply rules equally, but the exceptions likely exist due to people abusing the rules. For example, I've seen a good number of vtubers have "censor bar" toggles that replace their clothes with a black bar to imply nudity, or just a blur filter, and when the art rules changed for a few days last year, tons of vtubers just had their models nude on screen. This is stuff that's clearly not okay, but the rules tend to assume irl people, so they probably felt the need to clarify it.
Vtubers can do a lot that IRL streamers can't, when it comes to how they look. For example, the older "swimsuit" rules only exist out of necessity to allow people to swim or stream from a beach, but vtubers don't really need specific outfits, and a lot of their normal outfits are very similar to bikinis, regardless. Personally, I think twitch should simplify things and just not allow hot tub streams in general, but that's just me.
I do think it's likely that some people at Twitch don't like vtubers, but it's also likely a case of a few people pushing things too far and ruining stuff for everyone. Also, the colorful animated designs make them stick out more compared to irl streamers who might be breaking rules, and that makes haters more likely to report them, too.
Just my 2 cents, as someone who watches several vtubers myself, because it's very easy to just say "twitch hates vtubers" without considering other contributing factors.

This is why I see more streamers switching to UA-cam. While the system on UA-cam might be broken, it's broken evenly. No real discrimination. This one streamer went to both UA-cam and Twitch to say that they will stop streaming on the platform and stay on the other platform. UA-cam tried to negotiate with him to let him stay, Twitch just said, "Oh well, go do whatever."
