I remember the latter half of the 1990s when Art Bell was still around and doing his show. I was stuck doing 3rd shift security all alone in a small guard shack in various creepy places. Most of the time I was all alone guarding an empty facility. That made for some long nights. Your mind can play tricks on you and all l I had for company was a radio. Art Bell really helped me through those long nights until I saw the light of dawn on the horizon and I knew my relief was coming soon.

Yeah, I'd be creeped out too. I'm curious. I unfortunately hadn't heard of Art Bell until after he passed. Well I THINK I might've listened to one or two of his old broadcasts on UA-cam, not long before he passed, but for whatever reason, I completely forgot about him, up until a few months ago, and then have been listening to a lot of his old stuff, ever since then. I would've loved to have been able to listen to his show, when it was on the radio, in the late 90s. But in the late 90s, I was only 8, and 9 years old. I was born in 1990. I sometimes wonder if my late grandpa ever listened to Art Bell, during the 90s, before his unfortunate death in 1999. He owned his own business during the the entire 90s, and it required him to sometimes drive his semi truck, pulling his cat tractor, on a trailer, heading to do a job, sometimes across the state of Washington (where we're from) or sometimes he'd have to drive to Idaho. I rode with him a few times. I swear Art's voice on the radio, always feels like I'm listening to an old friend. It's possible he did, and I might've heard it once or twice while riding with him. So how did people tune into the show back then? I mean as far as the channel it was on. How often was his show on? Every night? Or once a week? Or?

Many years ago now, I was dating a guy who seemed sweet and creative, open minded, and somewhat spiritually inclined. I had become a Christian some years earlier, but had gradually drifted away from the bible and church, and had embraced many new age ideas.
This partner, I'll call John, I soon discovered, had hidden addictions, including sleeping around, and had a habit of lying. I was determined to end the relationship as there was no basis for trust with someone that deceptive. In a last attempt to change my mind, he said he wanted to show me something about himself. I didn't know what to expect, and even though I knew nothing could change my mind, I indulged his request, to give him assurance NOTHING would change my mind. He asked me to sit down on the floor with him, he closed his eyes as though meditating for a few moments.
Then his eyes opened and looked directly at me. They were pitch black. The room suddenly felt several degrees colder. I just watched, but somehow simultaneously KNEW several things instantaneously: this was a demon; this thing HATED not only me but all of humanity; it wanted to absolutely destroy us, utterly; it was like a deep, burning envy and resentment that never ended. But at the same time I knew this: somehow, for some reason, this thing had no 'right'/'permission'/grounds to harm me. And its resentment burned the hotter for that. It couldn't touch me! I felt in that instant so humble, so grateful, like something MUCH more powerful than some stinking demon 'owned' me and had set some protection around me. I don't know how I knew all this, I just absolutely knew it beyond thought of any kind.
During this my possessed soon-to-be-ex-partner just stared unblinking, with cold black 'abyss-like' eyes. He seemed very rigid. I said 'ok, that's enough', and gently poked his arm. His arm felt like it was made of lead, and I sensed a supernatural strength that could have been unloosed by him if he were able. It was not the same musculature or strength he normally had; very different. He came out of his trance at that point, totally unaware of what had happened. He seemed expectant though that I'd be impressed by what I'd seen. He had thought this to be an angel or high spiritual entity of some kind that he could call at will; the ultimate party trick. He had no idea what he'd really allowed in.
That experience was a gift of sorts. No longer able to deny the existence of evil, of the demonic.....that began the process of my return to God. I'd turned my back on God, but He never turned His back on me, nor on anyone who humbly and sincerely seeks Him.

Little did they know that the "final battle" would occur 24 years later at the end of 2020. At least it sure...feels like it doesn't it... I remember listening to these interviews and Art Bell EVERY week night as I worked swingshift 4:00 pm to midnight for many years in my work rig and on my way home here on the left coast. I'm a believer but a fairly non religious type but I never forgot these interviews or Father Martin. He turned out to one of my favorite guests on Art's radio program and I NEVER missed him. I heard him mentioned earlier this evening (24 years later and they're both he and Art are gone now) by a guest on the SGT Report in a very positive way and she obviously loved Father Martin and looked up to him. Anyway this is almost like listening for the first time again. And I'm pleased that my first impressions on Father Martin are as right & strong today as they were back then. He was a great and very interesting man...

Art Bell asks Malachi Martin what ghosts are. When I was 7 years old my family moved into an apartment and we had a neighbor who must have been in his 60s. One day I went to his apartment and rang the doorbell, an older woman answered the door. She had a canister vacuum hose wrapped around her arm with the vacuum slightly behind her and wore a modest dress (but not old fashion). I asked her if Charles was home (the man who lived there) and she said “no, he’s at work”. I asked her what time he’d be home and she didn’t know. I said thank you and she closed the door and I left. Later that week I wasn’t sure if Charles was home, rang his doorbell, the same woman answered, we spoke like before, she closed the door and I left. The following week I knew our neighbor wasn’t home but I just wanted to talk to the “nice lady”. She answered the door, we spoke, she closed the door. Eventually my mother and Charles were talking in his apartment when I saw a small black and white picture in a frame on his tv. It took me 3 times to tell him that I knew the lady, and eventually, the third time he was irritated and said “no you don’t”. I told him she the lady who answers the door when he’s not home. He told me “That can’t possibly be. That’s my mother and she’s been dead for years!”. After that when at his apartment I’d listen to the radio in another room while my mother would visit with him and several times there would be 3 knocks on the door but no one there, along with many other strange things happening. How could a spirit, or ghost, answer a door in solid form? I find that I pray for here these days....or her spirit.

There is a possibility that it just made you see a hallucination of it answering the door. It may not have physically have taken place. Maybe it did answer the door. That would take a lot of energy though. They can not physically appear in our realm very easily at all. That takes some blood in a ritual from what I know of. They usually just appear as something that is not solid. I am no expert. I just read a lot. I believe that is a demon too. I do not believe in this human spirit theory. That goes against scripture and just makes no sense. There is a lot of church tradition that makes no sense if you follow the bible. These demons always pretend to be people. Catholics believe that you can't cast out human spirits. They just chalk it up as a failure, and with tragic results. They get fooled into believing it is not a demon and give up on the case. Even if it was not a demon, any problem can be fixed with prayer if you have the faith to do it. No matter how you look at it, it makes no sense to me anyway. I do not care what kind of spirit is harming a person. I am kicking it right out.

The "quickening" of which Art Bell spoke, and I was a regular listener back in the day, referred to the acceleration of time, the idea that events which in the past took a long time to unfold now were occurring very rapidly. The other element of the idea was that there was an accelerated movement toward some climactic event taking place. Maybe that event was the 9-11 attack. It was an event which seemed to reset world history itself, and certainly the politics of the world and the politics of every country.
The feeling of quickening as Bell meant it I think had a great deal to do with the presidency of Bill Clinton. He schemed endlessly for political advantage to cover up his misdeeds, and he seemed through his presence to make it feel like time itself was running very fast. It was abnormal. I was in my 40's during his presidency and I was very aware of it. I had never experienced anything like it before and haven't since either no matter what political leaders have been in the forefront either in America or anywhere else in the world. The 90's were a strange era to a great extent because of Bill Clinton.

This radio program, although somewhat of a cult, was so satisfying.
Compare listening to Art Bell and Howard Stern. This is satisfying.
On this show Malachi Martin had a real effect on me. He clarified spiritual issues and concerns that I had. For instance he explained why many people have seemingly effortless paths in life, with things always falling in place, always going their way, with no apparent struggle on their part. The explanation is that these people, and we all know people like this, have sold their souls to Satan. ‘Just leave me alone, let me go through this life. Spare me the struggle. You can have my soul.’ The problem is that they know that they have sold themselves and what awaits them after this. Hearing this really gave me peace. I never forgot this from the time I heard it.

I was a security guard in 2001 when I first heard Art Bell one night. Now I'm in the Air Force, just like he was. Still a fan to this day.

What a sacrificial life that priest must have lived. Well done, a good and faithful servant.

The book The Exorcist was so scary, I would only read it during the day and bury it in a drawer when the sun went down.
