- 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 4x4
The goal of this project was to get a little more towing power out of this 5.3 based ½ ton.
We explored multiple options from Headers, Cam Packages, Positive Displacement Blowers, 6.2 Engine Swaps Etc. When pricing and planning the 6.6 L8T crate motor from GM was the most attractive.
From a cost perspective it actually works out to be the best option and here is why:
OEM Crate Motor 3 Year/ 36 k Mile Warranty - GM Nationwide
Runs On 87 Octane
Displacement - Displacement - Displacement - NON DOD/AFM from GM
As Much TQ as the LT1
No Core Charge - Gives you the Ability to Sell your Long block - Intake to Oil Pan
Best of all this thing produces gobs of TQ!
This truck baselined at:
282 RWHP & 340 RWTQ SAE
With the 6.6 it produced:
340 RWHP & 462 RWTQ SAE
This Combo Picked up 58 RWHP and 122 RWTQ SAE in a full factory 5.3 exhaust!
We couple this with OEM Reliability, Warranty, and now the TQ to Tow and the Power to GO all while using 87 Octane!

How involved was this conversion? Mounts ? Any cutting?
Standard swap - few sensors that need rewiring - fuel system harness - we utilized the 5.3 accessories
So the factory 6.6 L8T picked up that much more power with an exhaust change?
@@optimuscrime608yes / this has the full factory exhaust on 87 octane. We are finishing another one next week that will
Use 93 octane and has long tube headers / check that one out when we post.
5.3 to 6.6 122 RWTQ. gain with cubic inches and tune only.
