- Damn, this thing was so hard to catch... Had to reset a few times until I did it .
Anyways, awesome music, awesome flying effect instead of coming from Pokéball, awesome background... This scenario is a 5/5 for me :D
I'm gonna make a bold statement and say this was the most intense non-event moment in the entire franchise at the time of its release. Nothing from Hoenn ever came close to the feeling I got the first time I heard the battle theme. There may have been more intense moments in the newer games (admittedly I haven't been playing past gen 5 because I prefer the 2D bird's eye view), but this one will always have a special place in my heart.
Gen 6 and 7 doesn't have anything remotely close to this or the battles at N castle, you're not missing much

@@NaiefThegoony True Af. Ultra necrozma is jmo literally one of the most intense things in any video game ever if you can get lost in the graphics. Only thing that comes to my mind as equally intense/disturbing is the borderlands 2 battle against angel in the bunker. But that's mostly jack having an amazing VA
Brodin yah it's like i go in expecting the normal everyday pokemon ( just fight the box legendary and catch it ) thing but then ultra necrosis came in and made a complete one eighty and it makes sense story wise it's necrozma with the world's light

I love the attention to detail: giratina not only floats down at the begining of the battle, but doesn't have a platform since he's just floating over the void

I never noticed the different entry direction! I knew it definitely looked different, but I couldn't place why. It's subtle details like this that add to the replay value of these classics. Every time I watch a video of a gen4 game on UA-cam, I notice something different about the game.
And this is why gen4 should have a remake

I really like the subtle fact that Giratina does not have a little battleground platform below it in the Distortion world, since it is flying, and not above any land.

Max health is 210
Assume we get down to 1 hp
(210*3)-(1*2)=628
Lets assume we're using an ultra ball
628*2=1256×3=3768
(3 is the capture rate of giratina)
3768÷630= about 6.
Assume we put it to sleep
6×2=12="a"
Then, we do
1048560 / sqrt(sqrt(16711680/a))
16711680÷12= 1392640
Sqrt(1392640)= about 1180
Sqrt 1180= about 34
1048560÷34= about 30523
If the number is less than a randomly generated number between 0 and 650000, you get a single shake. It has to pass 4 times to succeed.
Basically, at 1 Hp when asleep and using an ultra ball, you still only have a 5% chance of catching.
But can you do that in 0.5x A presses?

You had 30 turns (exactly due to the limited amount of PP for most of it's moves and this is without status effects) to try and catch Giratina at this point before it starts to struggle. Well done for hanging in there, it only took you 12 Dusk Balls to do the job. ;) Of course you can try and obtain Giratina again later on in the game, albeit at a higher level (70), but it's move set is changed and should give you a few more opportunities at capture.

@@fgvcosmic6752 you're wrong. Ever since generation 3, enemy pokemon have their pp kept in check. If it runs out the pokemon starts to struggle.

I always enjoyed this particular capture battle, even if I had to repeat it a few times. My strategy was pretty simple:
First, whittle it down to red very carefully (duh). Second, paralyze it (more reliable than sleep to me). Three, use Staraptor-immune to the ghost moves, switches into Shadow Force, and Intimidate lowers ATK (so many people don’t realize how much easier lowering stats makes catching legendaries). Four, have a LOT of Dusk Balls on hand. And five-REALLY important here-count off the PP of Giratina’s attacks (most of my do-overs are because it KO’s itself via Struggle).
Oh, and three-point-five, use other stat-lowering moves if possible, preferably ones that lower by two points (e.g. Scary Face), so you only need to use said move three times instead of six.
It's best to put it to sleep and confuse it cuz if it uses all of its moves
The worst case .. is Struggle ..
The last resort move but with heavy recoil

Gen 4 was the best . Gen 6 to 8 is garbage compared to this . I used to help my little brother when he had problems battling trainers . I remember when I had my first gameboy color with Pokemon yellow . Pokemon has come a long way with gen 3 and 4 being my favorite of all time hands down. The music just trying to get to giratina was so relaxing and soothing . What joy , we can never buy time guys so always enjoy the moment

Grinata is an awesome pokemon of the darkness, i know Dercray is cool and really scary but nothing beats a devil pokemon banished by Arsius, the God of all mons. Grinata even rivalled the power of both Palcya and Dyalja combined, I bet Grinata can even beat Rezhirem and Zeekrum and even Ibeltel and Zernias or heck, even the ultimate Cayruwem or even MiiYouTwo and Miga Reiqwazah.

Nah, honestly the Masterball just lets you make one catching battle easier. I like the challenge so these days I try to never use them. There's very doable ways to catch every legendary in every game without the Masterball.

Makgames Tv Arceus is an event Pokemon unfortunately, and the only way you can get him in these games is through either Action Replay or Gameshark.

When this game came out I was a Senior in high school. Imagine how much I had to hide the fact that I was still into Pokémon …everyone was into 50 cent , mike jones and all that crap…don’t get me wrong they slapped but not as hard as a Pokémon theme and game.

Well because of how Platinum went there should have been a remake with Cyrus' return. Like how Ghetsis returned in Black/White 2. Or even if Team Galactic returned but Cyrus didn't. Like how Team Rocket returned in HeartGold/SoulSilver. I don't know how Diamond/Pearl ended game-wise so I couldn't exactly mention them. I have Platinum but didn't finish it at all.

by the looks of it, I could pop on a dragon fang on my level 24 gyarados and use dragon rage seven times on giratina then use an ultra ball
Well first off dragon rage always does exactly 40 damage no matter what and giratina has a ton of health and would likely kill your gyarados in seconds
