On a freezing Sunday morning, Silk FC faced JFC Tigers for the third time in what has been an intense rivalry. After a 4-1 win in the first game and a 4-4 draw last time, the boys were determined to take the win. With Hamza in goal, a solid defense of Maxwell, Tariq, and Paul, Nuh and Rome in midfield, and Carlos and Loqman on the wings, Silk FC were ready to battle. Eman led the attack, with Eyobiel and Uriel on the bench.
🔥 First Half: Silk in Control 🔥
Silk FC started on the front foot, pressing high and attacking well, though the Tigers defense managed to hold firm. At the back, Maxwell and Paul were rock-solid, keeping the Tigers from taking a single shot on goal.
Then came the breakthrough! Nuh picked up the ball and played a perfect pass to Carlos, who was unlucky to miss from close range. But the boys kept going, and soon after, Carlos made a brilliant run down the wing and whipped in a low cross for Loqman, who tapped it in easily. 1-0 to Silk! 🎉
Silk kept up the pressure, and before long, Nuh made a powerful run before being taken down in the box for a clear penalty. He stepped up and slammed it home. 2-0 to Silk! The boys were dominating and looked well on their way to a win.
⚡ Second Half: A Harsh Lesson ⚡
Silk started the second half just as strong, but then a highly questionable referee decision changed the game. A soft penalty was given to the Tigers for barely any contact. Hamza guessed the wrong way, and the Tigers pulled one back. 2-1 Silk.
Despite this, Silk didn’t let their heads drop. Beautiful link-up play between Maxwell and Rome on the left led to Rome threading a perfect through ball to Paul, who finished like a true striker. 3-1 to Silk! 🎯
With just five minutes left, Silk were in full control, attacking constantly and looking comfortable. But football can be cruel…
A miscommunication in defense led to an easy goal for the Tigers-very unlucky for Silk. 3-2 with just minutes to go.
Then, in the final two minutes, disaster struck. A Tigers player was barged in the back, and another penalty was given. Hamza guessed the right way and made the save, but the Tigers were quickest to react, smashing in the rebound. 3-3.
The final whistle blew, and despite Silk dominating for most of the game, the Tigers celebrated like they had won the match. A tough one to take, but Silk are improving massively-they just need to cut out those costly mistakes.
