Made a gasket with an adhesive foam sheet from my kids craft stash. But it's crazy they didn't do this at the factory. The gap is really small, but i guess it makes static that sucks in the crap.
@Nickporter17 As could everyone, go fix and redesign everything that they buy. You could buy a new television, take it apart before using it and fix known defects, buy a new car and pull it apart and fix known defects, but at be welder, pull it apart and fix known defects. Or, Yeswelder could own the fuck up, stop pretending that it's difficult to fix, and do what any up standing company would have done immediately. They are 3 months into this and claim to be working on it. An end user designed a 3d printed fix in hours, and was printing and selling them all over the country in days. But Yeswelder, in all of their greatness, 3 months later, is still slobbering in the corner with a hand down their pants scratching their ass hole, trying to figure out what to do. Yep. They pretty much look like complete idiots who have no clue what is what. I think I'll make the second video on this, this coming weekend.
I live on a acre dirt lot. Had to reschedule a radiator swap because 60mph winds today. Normal air compressor routine blowing it off, my bench and the garage dirt every few days has no build up or issues. Its a DESIGN FLAW regardless but requires using it dusted out NOT STORING in extreme dust like me, because it freaked me out when the issue was first published on the FB group and the 3d printer guy sold like 80 of them. Im more pissed they wont add me to the beta group. 3 weeks no reply. I want the update so i can use any of the functions i paid for. 240 aluminum pulse only rn and its the big wire my welding shop has to order. 120 pulse? Dont remember kickstart listing that as "in a future update".
Thanks for the tip off. Where have you found that they are trying to fix the problem? I am thinking of getting a DP200. It would be my first ever welder. DO you think it is a good starter welder, excluding the screen dirt problem? Thanks for the video.
I cover all my machines when not in use. I would open it up and see if the pcb is coated with conformal or not. Blow out any dust and tape around the backside to seal it.
@@morenothing4u ya the front cover of the machine comes off with like 10 screws. The front cover has a plexiglass screen and the LCD is mounted behind it.
@Nickporter17 I would use some kind of weather stripping thin enough to fill the gap between the lcd and plexiglass. That's assuming there is a frame on the lcd. Or stick the weather stripping as a frame on he outside of the lcd, with the screen being recessed. The weather stripping should compress a little to the plexi glass. These minor details should had been done during assembly.
Same issue here. Same garage conditions, same buildup on screen. To be honest, more concerned about that same buildup on internals than I am about the screen. Can't imagine the welder will last long with dust settling on the transformers and circuit boards inside.
Yeah, that's the issue I'm having now... but the dust buildup inside the screen is the big problem. The Thermal Arc welder you saw along with my Esab plasma have been sticking and blowing normal garage/shop dust for 20+ years. It really doesn't seem to effect the internals. The screen issue though, that's just plain poor design. And easy enough to fix that some random guy whipped up a fix in a few days and started shipping all over the country. But the actual Yeswelder company has no clue how to address this. Get Yeswelder, wake the fuck up!
Same issue with mine of course. I’ve had my titanium welder from HarborFreight for many years, and when I opened my yeswelder I saw quality differences in the titanium’s favor , such as the cable thickness, the ground clamp itself, having rubber legs on the bottom, etc. But ignoring all of that the yeswelder still welds so I was more or less ok with it. One thing I definitely can’t ignore Is my welder internally getting filled with dust. I’ve had it for a month and some change and like you I’ve only put about 30 minutes on it waiting to see if we will be offered some sort of solution.
Your right. The earth Clamp is a piece of sh1t. You saw the ArcCaptain, BestArc and Aspligo machines.... all better clamps. The lack of feet, that's just stupid. I'm not over impressed with this flagship machine that has more cut corners than an octagon.
@ exactly I try not to compare it to the more expensive welders we have at work but after using a friend‘s titanium 125 I bought one of the big machines for home use and have been completely satisfied with it. I have a yes welder plasma cutter, but I don’t have a budget plasma cutter to compare it to. The difference with my plasma cutter and my welder is I have another same tier welder to compare it to and really can’t say I was too impressed. It welded OK but longevity is definitely a concern. After the plasma cutter, I wanted to call myself a fan, but I’m hoping they fix this. I have seen that their customer service is great so I’m confident they will but like you said if a random dude can’t come up with a solution, they definitely should be at least making some sort of announcement by now.
It's not just the clamp, but also the cable itself. They used CCA cables instead of pure copper. Luckily I had some 2ga solid copper welding cable on the shelf, and $8 later for a Berger 300 amp ground clamp from harbor freight, and problrm solved. I would like them to fix the screen issue though.
He put together a website where he makes and sells a gasket. He's essentially pulling in every dollar he can from every owner and trying to convince anyone who tries to hold Yeswelder responsible that they are foolish because for $30 they can pay him to send parts to fix it. While I can afford $30, fuck that. Yeswelder needs to step up and fix this. We paid them for a proper product. I'm not paying some jackwagon $30 to fix the product i just bought. Instead, I'll go to war.
Supper dirty, I don't see a shiny polished floor and dust collectors. I have the same welder, but haven't used it, waiting for warmer weather! Hope this is just a fluke?
LOL Good grief a welder with a 3 meter mig/stick lead is gonna be EXTREMELY close to smoke/fumes from ACTUAL use and that crap WILL get pulled into internals of machine REGARDLESS of CLEAN shop or otherwise..... alot of comments are pure FOOLISHNESS. Yes my kickstarter unit has exhibited the EXACT issue. PEACE!
That's the thing. From the most infrequent home user, to a dedicated shop or artist, welding equipment is used around grinders, dust and dirt and all of the typical fabrication induced airborne and ground laden debris. Every. Single. One.
While certainly a budget priced welder, the LCD should have been isolated from this. Out of frustration and impatience waiting for factory response , decided to make necessary seal with weatherstripping.

@LarryMusgrave thanks for getting the info out. I was able to fix mine before it looked like yours

You can't seal the inside. Those louvers on the front are an open grill. You can seal the screen tho.
@Nickporter17 Is the lcd screen behind a plexiglass screen or something?

Whats the guys fix? Do you have a link? Want to check it out

You're right, the dust in my garage is out of control. I'll need to clean up a bit before I use any welding or fabrication equipment 🤣😂🤣
