talking about the fact you mentionned suggesting ideas for less OP starting items, what about starting with tractor beam? I feel like that item is underrated, like it adds 1 to the tear cap and makes all familiars that copies your tears shoot into the beam, also conjoined basically triples your damage like a better triple shot more accurate and without the fire rate down, also same with wiz shot, also it forces tiny planet to shoot straight and makes montsro's lung into an insane shotgun without the range downside....etc

7:30 my favourite item in the game (even though it’s not that broken) is spoon bender. Hominy just makes the run a lot more fun and easier for me without making it an insta win

Which includes health ups, flight, spectral tears, however, This also includes defensive items such as cube of meat or ball of bandages, and yes, even holy mantle. It’s basically a glass canon, all offense, little to no defense
a really interesting video would be giving yourself 10 Eden blessing and do an entire run with only the items you get from eden blessing to test what item truly gives you a nice start

Some starting items people don’t really talk about but are goated in the right scenarios: mega mush, Isaac’s tomb, flip, mega blast, bag of crafting, binge eater, last but not least 🅱️alls. Would love to see a tainted/regular keeper + balls or like a mega mush/blast + no! trinket run. Not as flashy but for starting/carry items they pop off

Hey Matt, a really fun item to start out with is Kamikaze! with Tainted Keeper. You basically play like a bomber and heal with whatever drops from enemies. And since it gives you access to most secret rooms, you'll have a fun but dangerous run.

I wonder if a better test would be to pick one of the “rigging” items to start with but prevent the others from spawning in the run. See which carries harder on its own.
Hey Matt, here’s a suggestion. If you re-do the testing on another character, you should remove all non-highlighted items from the run. For example, if you start with glitched crown, then don’t pick up damocles, rock bottom, or sacred orb during the run. That way you can really test them in a vacuum.
Could you also do these challanges on basic issac please? I think it he would be the best benchmark character. These videos are banger btw. Keep it up please :D.

A cool idea for this could be keeper’s balls with tainted keeper Or A full challenge run with keeper’s balls and deep pockets start with 109 coins (for 109 k subscribers) but only shop items for the run. As any character, probably one of the keepers or Isaac for max rig potential.
I'd honestly be down to see you try "What item would you get from death certificate" runs with either of the Bethanies, due to them being so reliant on their spacebar items and using an important pickup as a secondary fuel for charges, or either of the Judases, due to them being so obscenely strong offensively off the bat, that defense is arguably the better option to pick from.
Lusty blood maxed out way before you thought it did. The way rock bottom works is your stats will show you haven't lost the lusty blood damage bonus but you actually will, in a hidden stat which would return to base damage. Once you pick up a new damage up, that hidden stat will increase, therefore once you gain the max effect of lusty blood again, you stat will go up. Very common misconception about rock bottom
