I bought this exact machine last summer. In the fall we went moose hunting and shot a huge Canadian cow moose, as big as they get. Luckily the moose dropped dead right on the trail. I told my son we might have to quarter it up and haul it out that way. I told him what the heck, for shits and giggles let’s try pull the cow moose back to the truck, guts and all, never thought it would do it. To my surprise it pull this animal NO PROBLEM, even went down a creek bottom with a slight rise, on bare ground with some leaves on the trail. Pulled the moose to my 4x4 truck and from there to the camp where we had a gin pole. Field dressed, and skinned the moose, brought the carcass to the butcher shop where it weighed in at 430 lbs. You can almost double the weight with the head guts and hide on.
Hey Ben, thumbs up on the video! I took your recommendation and bought a mule sx xc a month or so ago. All around I love the machine! The sx suits our needs perfectly, it is surprisingly comfortable and capable. I haven’t even had to use the diff lock or 4 wheel drive it just trucks through everything. Im trying to find info on the sound of the engine. There is nothing on the internet and I haven’t been able to get a solid answer from the dealer. My question is are these engines noisy on a cold start in cold weather? When I start mine after sitting a day or so and it sounds like it has an exhaust leak for 20 seconds or so then idles down a bit and gets super quiet. This may be normal but I can’t find any start up videos to see if it sounds the same. I checked for exhaust leaks and there is none. I know its under warranty but if its normal I don’t want to waste a trip to the dealer for nothing. Any info appreciated? Also the trans is definitely quirky and is difficult to switch between gears quickly, usually needs a blip of throttle and then clanks into gear but this seems to be common. Thanks!
Hey there! Thank you so much for your input! I appreciate that very much. So the reason you might be hearing what sounds like exhaust leak, is because when you start the Mule up, it idles up and idles down. When it idles up, you'll hear the air intake sucking more air in. The air intake pulls air in from the top of the roll cage. From the driver's position, look right and up. There's a small inlet in the top of your roll cage that's pull air into your air intake. That might be why you're hearing that sound. Another example, if you have an open area to do this, when driving from point A to point B and full throttle, you'll hear that little inlet pulling more air in. From what you're describing, that is normal. :) Hope this helps!
