    Pure Data tutorial is back!!
    We'll have two more before going back to building instruments again! That said, there'll be more Pure Data tutorials in the future.

    Great tutorial. I have only been playing with PD since yesterday (actually only downloaded PD 23 hours ago 😁)
    I just simplified the sequencer a bit in the following way: move the "% 8" and "+ 1" below the int/number sequence and place this in "int 1" "+ 1" loop instead of the "+ 1". The number now counts from 1 to 8. To start the sequencer with step 1, you also need to replace the -1 message with a 0 message. When stopping the sequencer, the number will become 0 and when starting it will start with step 1

    Amazing content! I have seen all your videos on PD!
    I have one problem though. I am not quite sure where to put my drum sound in my files to get it to play? I can patch my "noise drum" from the other tutorial to the sequencer and make it work (which is SO cool!). But I guess it's the "open" function that won't work for me. Other than that you make really good videos! So informative and a good learning flow. Thanks!

      Thank you so much for watching the tutorials, Kasper!! I'm glad you found these videos helpful!
      So the drum audio samples need to be saved in the same folder as the sequencer patch file.
      If you don't have drum sounds in your computer, you can go to Bandcamp and search "Hip Hop Drum Kit Free by HipHop Trap Sample Packs". That one is free and it's safe to download from that website. Then, you find your favorite kick, snare, cymbal, and hi-hats from that downloaded folder and copy & save them to the folder with the Pure Data sequencer file!!

    For some reason my samples ring when played in PD.... they seem to have a lot of high frequencies in them. Reducing the *~ value makes no difference and I've tried multiple samples, all of them working well in ableton or just by hearing the wav file. Any idea why this ringing happens? Thank you so much for your videos, great job :)

    You have inspired me to learn Pure Data! I have a question on how to group several objects into one GUI object? I've worked with MaxMSP in the past so I know this possible in that environment. So how would you do this in PD?

    • @SoundSimulator
      @SoundSimulator 23 дні тому +1

      As for the question, do you have an example of what you want to do?

    • @eliyahumedia
      @eliyahumedia 23 дні тому

      Yeah. I just finished this tutorial and built the sequencer but things look quite messy. Is there a way to combine all these elements into one module? I've seen other people do this with PD but they never explained how to do it. Do I need a specific library or can I do this with just PD vanilla?

    hello !! I seem to have run into a problem.. I can't scroll down on my workplace, I have limited space to create on pure data. on this video you show that when you scroll down you reveal the part with the kicks, snares, drums... whilst im stuck haha. do you know what I can do to fix it ? thank you very much!!!

    • @SoundSimulator

      I recommend creating a new vertical slider (it's in the shortcuts) and just drag it down and down.
      Then, Pure Data will 'create' new spaces. You'll know what I mean when you give it a try!
      If you look closely at some of my tutorials, you may see these sliders in the corner for that reason.
      Have fun!

    I am having the same issue as a few others on here, where my audio file is not playing (but I am getting no errors and visually the sequencer is working fine) can you explain how you would import audio to a pd project, I have tried a few different things and nothing seems to work... • @SoundSimulator

      I'm not sure. It could be that the audio is peaking too much. Try lowering the gain by using [*~ 0.5] for each sound.

    Hello again! I managed to create the sequencer, but when it came to samples, i was a bit confused. I created a folder for this sequencer, and I placed the sequencer itself in there along with a snare file, but when typing the snare in 'open', it reads that 'there is no such file or directory'. Am i doing the folder wrong, or is there something wrong with the directory? Or am i completely confused?

      It sounds like you did it right.
      You made the 'open' as a message object, correct?
      The only thing I can think of is that it's a (dot)mp3 or something and Pure Data having hard time with it. Not sure. Feel free to send me a DM with a screenshot of the patcher and the folder.

    whats the (sel 0 (obj)) meaning? And why use this?

    • @SoundSimulator
      @SoundSimulator 2 роки тому +1

      When we turn off the toggle/sequencer, [sel 0] resets the sequencer counter to 0 so that it begins at 1 when you turn on the toggle/sequencer. I hope it makes sense!
      Turn on/off the sequencer without it and see what happens!
