This week we take a look at some amazing MALAYSIAN artists for the very first time, starting with Ku Bersuara - Ernie Zakri, Yuna - Dance Like Nobody’s Watching with the James Reid Remix, and A team's dance collaboration which was absolutely amazing. We then were totally blown away by Aina Abdul her brilliant delivery of Semalam, Joe Flizzow - CIAO ft. Ku bersuara by erni zakri (she's a vocal coach and does her own arrangements) talks abt violence, rape, abuse and etc towards women, and how they are traumatized by that. There are screams and news audio at the start, talking abt all of terrifying violence, rape, abuse cases in Malaysia. Ku bersuara means "im speaking out". how ppl giving hopes and promises to them, how they risk their life and trusting ppl, and ended up there were lies and bad intentions behind. she tries to bring justice for all victims out there.

Siti is absolutely THE single biggest superstar vocalist of malaysia. Everyone and their grandma knows her and her songs. The reason she's popular in indonesia is because our languages are similar and indonesian artists are popular here in malaysia too.

AJL - Anugerah Juara Lagu is an annual competition where singers, composer, lyricist in Malaysia compete to get the title of the best song, best vocal, best performance. The songs went thru elimination rounds and only the selected top 12 is able to perform live and gain a chance at the title.
Thus the quality of the songs, singers, composers in the final is basically the creme of crop.
Siti Nurhaliza is a number 1 singer in Malaysia, SHE'S A LEGEND!!

The show where ernie zakri & aina abdul in was Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL), started in 1986 where all the songs competing in the final was the best song in that year. Siti nurhaliza first single/debut song even reach the final of the AJL in 1996 and won the competition. She is one of the best singer in Malaysia. Definitely really grateful if you guys reacted to more of siti nurhaliza and other malaysian singer as well.

Thanks for taking my request on Siti Nurhaliza’s performance. That was one of my fav performance of hers. Almost all Malaysians know all of Siti’s songs. Siti also performed with Whitney Houston. And a lot of Malaysians speaks English

Maybe you can try to listen to Irama Malaysia/Melayu (Malaysian type of folk) genre. It is a keroncong singging style if i am not mistaken. One song i can recommend using this singing style is "Nirmala" or "Tunggu Sekejap" both by Siti Nurhaliza. Both performance shows vocal showcase and historic

Sheila Majid, Datin Siti Nurharliza, Zaina Zain, Shila Amzah, Yuna, Nadhira, Nik Qistina, Dasha Logan...but there is one very low profile female artist her name is Zee Avi, she is the first who make it to US music industry after she uploaded her own song..Honey Bee, Bitter Heart...early when youtude just started. Malaysia is a multi-racial country, major race are Malay, Chinese, India.. Malaysia also has famous chinese song writers and they are famous international. Female artist such as Fish Leong, Peggy.. I am so happy that you guys began your intro to Malaysian music by listening to some of the amazing singers that we have in Malaysia. Siti Nurhaliza remained as the country's no 1 singer since she debuted in 1996. You guys should definitely check out her plethora of amazing performances especially from her concert in Royal Albert Hall London. That was one of her best concerts, ever.
I always watch you guys reacting to SHINee, and to watch you guys react to fellow Malaysian artists is very refreshing. We have insanely many talented vocalists in the country, but very little exposure internationally. So it truly made me happy when others find out about them. Also, you mentioned how angelic Siti Nurhaliza looked. The thing is about Siti, she's a legend here. But the most charming part about her, how every time she's performs, regardless of how powerful the song is, she always perform them with poise, smile on her face and full of gracefulness. Proud Malaysian here. TQ to the both of you for truly covering so many different types of music and singing worldwide. Yes English is a second language in Malaysia. We were colonised by Britain from 1824 until 1957 , now after independence we are part of the Commenwealth but with our own constitutional monarchy as head and a democratic ruling government. I would say that 60 percent of Malaysians speaks English and many are very proficient at it. Keep up the amazing work. Love to you two and stay safe.

It's great to hear two artists talk about and appreciate music, dances, vocals and other involved arts in the music entertainment industry. It's especially effective when presented as podcasts like this one, it's amazing. I forgot how it feels like when I was in the music scenes many many years ago. Stay cool and keep appreciating and supporting Malaysian artists and their music too. It gives you the maintained Western style music pieces with some Malaysian twists that are just as diverse as the US music too I think.

The show is a competition searching for the song that is a champion song in every way (popularity, best compositio, best lyrics) for the year... the judging is such that they nominate a song, then the public audience will vote, and the songs that stayed at the top of charts the longest will be chosen for the semi finals (30 of them)...in the semi finals will be judge by a board of professional musicians, composers, lyricists and 12 of the songs will move forward to the finals n in the finals they will be judged by the top, veteran,legendary personalities in the industries. ...
I really love how you guys notice the details for the AJL production.... i really agree that AJL is insanely elite.... the way you describe the details in vocal and outfit for both aina and ernie zakri really blown my mind because sometime as spectator/audience i didn't notice the details the artist trying to convey...
and for aina's performance, you heard it very right..the song is actually about abuse in marriage...that's why you can feel so much pain through her voice...her feeling and delivery were really on point...

Malaysia first language is Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language)However.English (mixture of British and American, we understand and use both) is very common in Malaysia. You wouldn't believe that in one sentence of our conversation is 50% English and 50% malay words. pretty easy to be understand by foreigner :)
