The girls were just much more obvious that they weren’t taking Kyland anywhere whereas Xavier had a stronger built up trust with Kyland and let him believe they would go to the finals together. I had such a strong reaction to KYLAND’s behavior here and when he gaslighted Derek F, by refusing to confirm their final 2, then consequently demanding the same assurances the following week. I realized his soft spoken, but vitriolic need to be right, and willingness to argue a point until the opponent is just broken down, reminds me profoundly of the narcissistic abuse I’ve endured by my family. I really went from thinking quite highly of KYLAND, to feeling enraged at him. I wrote a chapter about it in my memoir.
Basically, X told him about his family and how he's raising his nephew since his brother died a few months before coming on the show. X gave him a final two deal a few weeks prior and then he realized that Kyland could give him a run for his money in case he sits in the end with him. Also, a week prior Azah won HOH and then put X & Hannah on the block and then Kyland wins POV and then takes X off the block and the following week X wins HOH & POV and got Big D to evict Kyland and thus Kyland said what he said as he's leaving the door
