G'day Matt. Good video. I worked in that sort of environment for a good while. It's the only time I've ever passed out; I was banging steel pickets in across a clay pan while the temp was in the mid-forties, lol. I was soon back to work... Oh, and we drank water from anywhere. We'd fill our water-bags from the lagoon to strap to the front of the fencing truck for the day. None of the three of us ever had gut problems. I felt my gut had been the best in my life. And the there was the time I was lost and drank out of muddy hoof-prints... I lived.
Love ya Field Days my favourite on UA-cam watch your videos like going to church every Sunday wear my merch everyday except when it's in the wash hope your foot feels better much love
My biggest tip for if you are in this situation for real is don't walk around in the middle of the day when its hottest, only a novice to the outback does this. Wait until its cool in the evenings and mornings, you will save so much water. Next is forget the large knife they, are useless in this country, carry a couple of large clear plastic bags instead. They weigh a lot les and will actually save your life. Those trees with the white trunks and bright green leaves you see everywhere? Put the bag over a thick bushy branch of leaves that are facing the sun. You will collect a lot of water through transpiration this way and wont need to waste any energy walking or digging. Change the bag to a new branch every 4 hours to harvest the most water, if you leave it on longer then some trees will just shut that branch down to stop water loss. If you have to dig for water let the vegetation guide you to the most lush looking spot in the dry river bed and look for a low point in the outside bend of the main river, that's were you will get the most water from a Seep Well which is what was shown in this video. Especially if there is a long shelf of rock under the sand in that area that will hold the water for a long time and not let it drain away into the soil. Once you dig a small Seep Well hole cover the hole with a some bundles of leaves to stop evaporation while it collects, the hole shown here would loose quite a lot of water that way exposed directly to the sun in afternoon heat. The face cloth worn in this video would be a really good way to pre filter the water going into the bottles, you could see the black things floating around getting sucked into the mouth of the bottle, you stop all that and more by folding putting cloth over the opening to pre filter it. Putting the wet soil into a sock, then another sock then the face cloth and then squeeze it will give you relatively clear water relatively fast too. If you dig and get moist sand but never hit the water table (this is more likely than actually finding water in most places) you can put the moist sand into one of the large clear plastic bags you should be carrying, make a low point in the bag thats got no sand then let the sun evaporate and condense all the water out of the sand it into the low point of the bag. This water will be clear and drinkable with out needing to mess around with making a fire and boiling it then waiting for it to cool ect. Again though find a shady area and wait until its cool until you set all this up all this, not run around in the highest heat of the day or you can easily use up more water up than you can harvest. This was a fun challenge video but yeah just entertainment, a lot of important info missing for real survival.
Thanks for sticking with the mission. That was an interesting way to find water. The knowledge you shared could come in handy for someone in a survival situation. The only way this video could have been better is an overnight camp in the bush next to the fire.

Honestly probably my favorite video from Matt. It was very educational to me, I never knew that you could dig up a creek and water will come out that was a shocker to me and I loved it when he got more than 2 bottles worth of water from that hole absolutely love it l
A little tip for when youre boiling the water is to get a piece of curved broken bottle and position it to catch the steam and collect the drop. those droplets once collected are safer to drink
Highly motivating 🤠 You got my subscription with this video. Do more like it! Is it me, or did it seem like you needed several more water holes to be able to stay properly hydrated AND store up a surplus of water to be able to keep traveling away from those holes? Or was this one hole enough?

As a youngster I played around with glass to magnify the sunlight, I always knew how to start a fire with a bottle, or the bottom of the bottle.. Unfortunately, these days there are no more glass bottles only plastic. Moreover, I would never go anywhere without a good lighter just incase. I liked your filter innovation with that old foam mattress. If a person is stuck out in the middle of nowhere, he/she can come up with an filter system pretty fast.
Back in the 80,s my partner used to work on drilling rig through out W.A ,he say we should think of the drillers offsider of today, and years before technology came in.he says they used to swing drill rod of the side of truck and both rod and offsides swing together to put it into the mast of the rig,12 to 16 hours a day ,three week on one week of,my partner say they were days of men and not like the young today. He says you never thought of the heat.
I would of made a camp with all that material earlier in the video then walk abit more down and see if anymore materials were available, then I'd build a shelter look for food and then make sure I've eaten then go look for water

Again though find a shady area and wait until its cool until you set all this up all this, not run around in the highest heat of the day or you can easily use up more water up than you can harvest.
This was a fun challenge video but yeah just entertainment, a lot of important info missing for real survival.

Its crazy that its Summer and so bloody hot there. Here in Kansas in the states its Winter with an artic front and -4 ° F or -20° Celsius out. Everything is hard frozen. The high today is just 6° F or -14° Celsius with sun out. In the Summer we can get up to 105+° F or 40.5° Celsius
Good luck with your game hope swift got dressed
That piece of glass you can craft it into a real firestarter. Keep it with you and make more iconic video with it ❤
Adapt over come , nothing wrong with a winge but never let it get in the way of a good adapt & overcome mentality ,Australians are fkn awesome man ,that little excerpt right there was so Australian.Tough breed!!

"Adapt and Overcome" best quote yet Matt! Not sure how to spell this particular bit of Aussie slang but yeah, its okay to "winge" once in awhile bro😉

Probably one of the best episodes yet I reckon
A GOOD Firestarter is always nice to have!
Would you prefer he trek in an all-terrain RV with all the trimmings?
The brother is surviving off the land for our viewing pleasure. In my mid 60's now, I probably wouldn't last an hour in that desert.
I APPRECIATE THE EFFORT MY BROTHER, IT GOT A LITTLE HAIRY BUT YOU PAUSED TO REBALANCE. AWSOME INDEED!!!
Today's Video was absolutely Epic. You are the Bear Grills of Australia. Love you man.
The cave at the being from the drone, show us that if u can it looked cool. Ur still kickin ass. Can't wait to see more. Peace Dj
Mae! excelente video, thank you for the teaching your are a True Content Creator.
Omg I have been waiting all week for this moment😅 I have watched all you videos❤❤
What's with the wheels tracks towards the end? Still love the videos been following since indo.
It’s amazing you even get footage in that heat mate hats off to you!
I enjoyed the bloopers at the end... i know the end product is always good but it was fun to see the takeouts of real life.
I'm just waiting him to come around the corner and finding 3 or 4 indigenous fellas having a drink.
Crazy how hyped I get just from seeing an upload notification from Field days😂😂yeah dawgie!
His old ones in Indonesia were the best!! 👍
I always learn from your videos, appreciate you Matt
I would of made a camp with all that material earlier in the video then walk abit more down and see if anymore materials were available, then I'd build a shelter look for food and then make sure I've eaten then go look for water
here we have an enitre PhD. on survival mate...I have experienced the good ol' heat inflicted goosebumps. You are a warrior! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
super helpful informative entertaining video, love this channel!
Matty!! great to be watching fresh episodes ❤
Hi Matt I enjoy your videos greatly. There is one thing you should explain to the viewers about that foam filter. There are two types of foam - open cell and closed cell. You got lucky and found open cell foam. Closed cell foam would have been useless. Cheers John
So ive live half my tife on a cattle and sheep station central Australia. Wouldnt know how many dams , creeks, troughs ive drank out of, never got sick. What are u filtering the water form in that country ?
You can see your truck it's behind the camera you can see it in the reflection of your glasses 😅 also the brand new tracks in the sand give it away aswell. But still a good video. Best channel on youtube
timestamp?
Of course he has his truck to go to places. Do you think he walks out in the outback just like that? It doesn't change anything in the video..
