  • The top must-do activity in Luang Prabang is definitely visiting Kuang Si Waterfalls, but there are other great places to visit on the way back from the magical falls which are well worth checking out too. They're all within a few short minutes drive of one another.
    ▸ Private Taxi Driver
    Oudon is a Luang Prabang local who is very warm, friendly and reliable. Contact him to confirm where you'd like to visit and get a quote for his service. If you do hire Oudon, please let him know you found him from watching our video :)
    📱WhatsApp / Phone: +856 20 5555 6182
    ▸ Kuang Si Falls
    You can easily spend a few hours at this incredible place especially if you stop to see the rescued bears, plan on climbing to the top of the falls and/or swimming. We highly recommend the restaurant we had lunch at, and when you need to go back to the car park, you can simply flag a shuttle down on the main road as they frequently pass by rather than walking back up to the falls entrance.
    👉 Learn more about Free the Bears: freethebears.org/
    ▸ Laos Buffalo Dairy
    There are a few different tour options which are listed on the board at the ticket office. A very educational and eye opening tour. We spent just over an hour here.
    👉 Learn more about this fantastic social enterprise: www.laosbuffal...
    ▸ Hmong Exhibition Antique House and Culture
    It was raining quite heavily while we were at the Hmong village so unfortunately we couldn't go around more of the village but the tour was very informative, insightful and interactive. We spent around 1.5 hours here. Be sure to purchase something from their souvenir shop to support their community before leaving.

      Hahaha yeah these cats are all crazy over the ice cream and the Buffalo 🐃 milk 🥛 the owner says they are all fed very regularly on top of their stolen treats too.

    Luang Prabang is full of surprises. The waterfalls and pools are gorgeous. The water buffalo dairy food looked delicious and reminded me of the camel dairy food in Oman 😋.

    • @darylmckay
      @darylmckay 5 місяців тому +1

      @PeterandYen no just camel milk, hot from a flask brought in by an adult student of mine. I later met the camel when my wife and I were invited to my students' house. There was a store that sold camel dairy products, too. I've never eaten camel but wouldn't be opposed to trying it in the right environment

    Kuang Si Waterfalls, it is really really nice, and its not one place but multiple areas
    When Peter said there is two ways of getting to the top, right way - "unbeaten", it reminded me of the waterfall you guys went to in North Island
    When Peter had to throw his slipper down 🩴, as it was pretty steep
    Good that these had steps 😅
    The lunch Yen had, nice with the chilli paste on the side
    I can see why Oudon had his ice cream 🍨placed so close to him 😂
    Was a good way to enjoy my coffee this morning and thank you and have a great week both

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  5 місяців тому

      Hahahaha yes! I remember that north island walk. I think I got lost at the top trying to find the source of the waterfall 😂
      Yen says that luang prabang sausage from that store was the best one she had during this trip. Lucky the owners were kind and gave Yen a free ice cream replacement 😅

    🐈 🍨😂😂😂 Have to say right off the bat, the food looked amazing and the scenery around the restaurant…holy moly.. what an awesome place to eat!!! Yen summed it up perfectly.. what a day!! The waterfall, the swim, the food… those right there would have made a perfect day despite, “Hopefully it’s not too cold. It’s very cold 🥶.” 😂
    Funny… I just fed some rabbit, pigs (and goats) yesterday evening and last week didn’t milk a buffalo, but milked a cow. Animals are so soothing to be around… the buffalo dairy looked like an awesome place and very cool to hear what they are doing there..
    But that’s not all…a Hmong village on top of all that? You guys had an awesome awesome day!!!
    Thanks for sharing and as always, safe butterfly-free travels!! (still trips me out Yen is spooked by butterflies 😁).

      That restaurant was such a gem of a find. For a while we considered it didn't even exist cause we were so far from the main area 😂 to make it even better the food was magnificent too 🤤
      Kinda surprised we did all that in 8 hours 😂 seems like a lot looking back. Especially since the falls are an hour from the main city center too.

    wow they've REALLY developed this area! It looks so different! I definintely had no shuttle lol but the bear rescue WAS there (they were more awake for you XD I arrived quite late in the afternoon) Also that nice bridge you were on? No so nice when I was there XD

    How does Laos compare to Vietnam for you? We are starting to think about going to one of

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  5 місяців тому

      Love both counties. Both have a different vibe.
      Laos is quite undeveloped, nature focused and laid back.
      Vietnam is more developed and chaotic (in a good way) with beautiful nature sprinkled in.
      Both countries have delicious food.
      After our Laos trip we've made our way back to Vietnam for the third time but we've made quite a few videos from Vietnam in the past.

    What a fabulous first day! I would be watching Peter swim like Yen! The views from the restaurants and food looked amazing! I am going to look up some Laotian restaurants near us to try some of the food. Having Oudon as a local guide must have been wonderful! By the way, I have no idea that Laos had bears!

      I appreciate the heads up that some Lao restaurants will be listed as Thai. I did find one in Carpenteria (close to our daughter’s house) name Lao Thai Restaurant. Also, I want to thank you for me to correctly use the term Lao.

    • @PeterandYen
      @PeterandYen  5 місяців тому

      No worries Ray! It's a tricky one coz the country is Laos, the people and cuisine are Lao, so is the language :) but people and food can also be referred to as Laotian and then to make things more complicated the spoken version some Lao people pronounce the s for the country and others don't 😂

    Hahaha now Peter can tick off his bucket list that he had milk the bull 🤣. I want to swim in all those swimming pools 😍. Australia has so many natural gorges which I did hike and swam in. The best experience ever ❤. I think hiring a private driver is a great idea. I don't mind paying extra for the service. Those places are so lush with green. This episode is awesome guys 🎉

      Hahahaha! Milk 🥛 the 🐃 finally 😂

    • @ouradventerousdays
      @ouradventerousdays 5 місяців тому

      @PeterandYen It is dependent on where you're going. In the city public transport is a lot easier but in the countryside, a private driver is more convenient. I don't like public transport hehehe but travelling in Japan. It's a must 😅
