Celtic Interconnector - Connecting the power grids of Ireland and France

The Celtic Interconnector is a 700 MW HVDC interconnector linking Ireland and France. The interconnector is a joint venture between EirGrid and their French counterpart Reseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE). In this presentation Kieran French from EirGrid gives an overview of the Celtic project and its development to date together with a description of the civil works challenges faced during earthworks stages and and update on both the onshore and offshore construction elements of the project.
