    Tashina, thank you so much for helping us out on the side of the road today. Warren and you saved our butts and your music is extremely good!

    She's a force of nature. Hope she is at Weiser next time I get to go. My favorite event in the whole world!

      @tim martin, the Clarridges have been coming to Weiser for most of their lives starting from when they were young kids. Speaking to them both in Weiser this past year about the uncertain future of the National Old-time Fiddlers contest, it was obvious that both Tashina and Tristan have a profound spiritual connection to the event. I have no doubt that as long as Weiser has a fiddle contest, the Clarridges will be there.

    Great Music, I love it!!! Thank you. I've just started listening because I found an old "Dance Card" from 1891 when my grandparents were courting. It has a great list of music, mostly fiddle. Thanks again.

      Thank you for sharing that great story about your grandparents, Robert. That dance card is a real piece of history...both familial and musical. Times and musical tastes change but there were many, many years where the fiddle was THE featured instrument...the main draw... at dances, shows, and contests. Glad you found us, Robert. Stop by anytime.

    Fantastic fiddling but killer rhythm guitar. The best picking is in the campgrounds!

      Well noted, @clarkemontford1382. The campgrounds in Weiser during the contest are chock full of high caliber quality back up pickers and pluckers, but Camp Sumner had it going on this particular day.

      Thank you, Randall. I'm honored to hear that. I want to celebrate this music and the fiddlers, pickers, and pluckers who make it, and I feel these videos are one of the best ways for me to do that. Gratifying to know that you are enjoying this channel.

    Kudos to Anne! She's on point as always! BTW, it doesn't matter what kind of bow Tashina uses lol. If it were a stick with pleasant sewing thread she would make it sound great! 😁

    I listen to these tracks so often that I forget I've already commented on many aspects of so many tracks lol. Ann is the hero and Tashina with that bow lol.
    Btw, before I forget could you contact me about the album Spring and Fall? Thank you!

    • @joyoffiddling
      @joyoffiddling  6 років тому

      John, you are welcome to comment as much as the spirit moves you to do so. Very glad to know you are enjoying the videos enough to come back for seconds and thirds. The Joy of Fiddling channel is always open...it's all you can eat...and it's free.
      As for Anne, I couldn't agree more. She speaks softly and keeps herself below the radar but put a six string in her hand and she does a lot of talkin'.
      As for Tashina...that bow wasn't planned...it just happened. I think the bow would have intimidated a lot of fiddlers but Tashina didn't think twice about jamming with it.
      Feel free to personal message me on this channel and I'll answer your enquiry about the "Fall and Spring of Texas Fiddlin' '" LP.

      @@joyoffiddlingThank you! I have listened to all of these videos dozens of times. I think it's wonderful work that you are doing. I'm not real savvy with UA-cam and I have been unable to find the feature that will allow me to message you privately. If you could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, and thanks again!

      Well, as it so happens, John, it does not matter how savvy anyone may or may not be with UA-cam as I have just discovered that they decided to discontinue the ability to personal message on UA-cam back in July of 2018. (Insert heavy sigh of disappointment here) So, I have temporarily enabled my channel to receive "business inquiries". You can contact me with these steps:
      To email someone using the Business Inquiry Email:
      Go to the UA-cam Channel you want to email.
      Select the About tab of their channel.
      If a Business Inquiry Email is provided, select “View Email Address”. If you don’t see a Business Inquiry Email, that means that the channel owner didn’t provide one.
      Use the email to send a message to the channel.
      Then be prepared to jump through a multitude of hoops to prove you are not a "Bot". (Insert irritated groan here)

    Aren't guitars allowed to do a break??

    • @joyoffiddling
      @joyoffiddling  6 років тому +7

      Hey there, alan4sure. I see that you've left another comment on another video on this channel in regards to the guitar pickers not taking a "break". Let me first point out that this is the Joy of Fiddling channel whereby in pretty much every single performance video, the fiddle is the featured solo instrument. If one were to watch all the live jamming videos on this channel they would see a lot of accompanying instruments: guitar, tenor guitar, bass, piano, or mandolin, none of which take any solo breaks. It's not that they're not "allowed" to. It's just that their role in this particular fiddling tradition is as rhythm back up. Now of course in Bluegrass music, or some old string band music, it is the norm that all the instruments take breaks. But this is not Bluegrass. The roots are in Old-Time fiddling but most refer to it as contest style, progressive style, Texas style, etc. And in this style the fiddle is the one and only solo instrument. Having said that, may I recommend you check out the Red Bluff Session on this channel, featuring Canadian fiddle master Calvin Vollrath and his picking partner Clinton Pelletier. Clint knows his way around a 6 string and he trades off with Calvin on a few tunes. You can find the full playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PL-7sGqQweHSiVD-VZO7xI_zEqz4Wsq0iw.html
