I was addicted to the sound effects the Mudarchers make with their weapons as a kid. The fact that it's just a Slig machine gun sound slapped onto it is so strange yet satisfying. Made me really want to see every Tomahawker get transformed.
You know what would would have been awesome if Hand of Odd got released? If they let you play as Sligs, Mudokons, Gabbits, and vykkers and choose different classes that they have.
I think that's what they were planning. I've got a video about Hand of Odd that I've been meaning to finish sometime.... and yeah, basically you would've been able to choose different races from what I understand. :)
I love the idea of different gameplay styles for different races: these are way too much to expect from the studio at the time but I like the idea of a Doom/Quake style FPS for Sligs where you get more and more ridiculously OP working your way up in Slig tech, and then something more RTS based when playing as a Glukkon. Vykkers get to play Surgeon Simulator but with absurd tools
I think the glowing gemstone concept art for the tomahawkers might indicate that there was some sort of way to 'boost' them in an earlier version. Like you see in some RTS games. Maybe having a shaman or some other support unit nearby would have empowered the nearby warriors in terms of damage, adding a magical effect to their armaments. - would also reinforce the idea that Mudokons would strategically rely more on eachother, rather than the industrialists' tactics of waves of sligs or if that doesn't work, roiding up sligs. Especially in an RTS having a design element like that clearly communicates when a specific attack bonus, for example, is active, is just good game-design. Would've been a cool mechanic to see in hand of odd.
I'm trying to improve my English and now I discover this channel, I'm a fan of Oddworld, but in Spanish we haven't a "loremaster" that explain it well like you. Thanks for this content!! I'm going to watch the full playlist!
I always found it weird that after their escape, you didn't see Mudokons taken up fallen, stolen or blackmarket slig weapons. Like a Mudokon version of the Native Americans using repeating firearms vs the US cavalry at the battle of wounded knee. Maybe Oddworld inhabitants wanted the free Mudokons to be a rejection of all the industrialists ways, including firearms.
This game, this lore, its old and underrated, I simply love it idk, I just finished stranger's wrath, it was awesome and also you are awesome because you are the only person who make videos about this whole universe of Oddworld. Keep it up.
good question i like to think they belong another big race of oddworld something like a sort of mammoth like creature. also with such sizes it just prove how powerfull mudokons can be since they can kill with just there bare hands
Pertaining to the tomahawkers using clubs, i think its interesting as i learned from a reenactor at jamestown that the native iroquoi made use of two families of weapons with 'ahawk' suffixes. Tomahawks were axes while Monahawks were stone war clubs, either ball headed or sometimes even having multiple stones embedded in the side to make a blade, much like aztec war clubs (though cruder)
Ha thank you! :) Eventually (though probably not soon) I will make more Oddworld videos, regardless of if they announce any new games. Just currently taking this quiet period to work on other stuff. ;)
You could argue that giving the Mudokons weapons kinda changes what Oddworld is as a game, your supposed to treat the environment like a puzzle, get around obstacles and escape, but honestly I feel like Mudokons becoming warriors just makes too much sense to not be explored, what's to stop a bunch of workers breaking into a slig armory and fighting back? Or just hitting them over the head with any number of tools.
It would have been a cool addition to use the resource you used to upgrade troops to use in commander ability like spells to buff or heal your troops on the field. This would have been a cool way to have you decide what kind of playstyle you want to go for being swarm in numbers with melee and heal them, invest more into a few ranged units and spend the rest healing them as you fight on in a battle of attrition or go for a melee ranged mix with no spells to blitz the enemy at the risk of taking losses over time.
it could also be that as the mudokens are just begining to regain theyre lost power that classes like the tomahaker and muarcher may end up just being the aprentence levels on a path to greator offencive and defencive powered classes, like graduation from yellow bult and discovering the long road ahead to black belt through progressivly more advanced and intence forms of training. im not familier with it, but id guess similer is done in training to become a shoalin monk, a sort of real world equivilent to the mudokin fighters. gotta be some great power that was used to batter theyre moon into a hand print.
Hey bro, enjoy the videos, always been an Oddworld fan myself since I was a kid. One criticism/question however, when quoting someone do you have to do a silly voice? As its really unnecessary & I skip the quotes so I don't have to suffer that voice you make 😂
Another note is in the first two games you only have industrial muds following you and the scrubs in munch (other than the finale) don't become warriors All the natives in the first game don't trust him at all yet. In. Munch it's the first time the natives help out. Although maybe they are the ones freed in the first two games.
It would have been cool if there was a third upgrade to your modcens or however, you spell the species name. That would use the original Tomahawker design that use both the crossbow and club.
I hope that hopefully in the soulstorm sequel we will see his return or more context on the lost culture of the Mudokons and the Keeper revelations 🐝🏹🦴🔮
A lot of Mudokon videos lately.... Which do you prefer, the Tomahawkers or the Mudarchers?
Mudarchers bc of their spiritual laser weapons
I prefer you look into the cover for the 1977 movie "Wizards", looks very much like Abe riding an Elum, except it was made 20 years earlier
Mudarchers 20536%
thanks for the heart!❤🤗
Never heard of the mud archers never maid it that far dang

Maybe the sligstorm game could be a FPS.
I wonder what the view would be for hand of odd actually
I like the Mudarchers they are my favourite Mudokons with their weapons ^_^

The Munch's Oddysee remaster should have included that glowing energy in the gems of the tomahawkers' cudgels, but they just got even less shiny
Yeah that would've been really cool if they'd made changes like that.

I love they don't depict mudokons as hapless idiots that can't do anything. It would have been so easy to do that.
Always wondered about these shmucks.
Some of my favorite depictions in the series.
I wasn’t expecting a video on this subject, but I’m glad it was made now that it is!
Same class type videos or creature video are my fav.
i always found awesome while playing munchs oddysee to have mudokons fight back with there own tecnology against sligs
Yeah, it definitely feels good and is really great to see the weapons they use!
I like to think those orbs can cast some sort of spells, but the Mudokans are just a little bit Dim witted so they club their enemies with them
LOL! I like that, it seems like something they'd do.
This game, this lore, its old and underrated, I simply love it idk, I just finished stranger's wrath, it was awesome and also you are awesome because you are the only person who make videos about this whole universe of Oddworld. Keep it up.
We should make a petition for a developement of a new oddworld game that gives us a proper war
i would love an FPS/RPG set in oddworld
I've always wondered who or what the bones of the weapons belong to. Scrabs perhaps? Or maybe a creature that didn't make it into the final game.
good question i like to think they belong another big race of oddworld something like a sort of mammoth like creature.
also with such sizes it just prove how powerfull mudokons can be since they can kill with just there bare hands
Be great that in the end of a game for the finale the would have a bunch of muddokons from different tribes attacking Soulstorm all at once
Gotta love that UA-cam didn't send me the video notification, but hey, I'll take any new Oddworld stuff. Thanks Pupbenny
it's Saturday morning and this is Epic 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

We need some new Oddworld games purely so you can create content around it - I look forward to that day! Love this channel
Ha thank you! :) Eventually (though probably not soon) I will make more Oddworld videos, regardless of if they announce any new games. Just currently taking this quiet period to work on other stuff. ;)
@@pupbenny yes, do your thing and take your time. That Oddworld vid will slap harder after the wait 🦾

I loved Abes Odyssey as a kid. Now my 3 year old son loves Abe. It will sit and watch me play for hours and occasionally try himself.
“It”
I would love to see an OddWorld RTS.

Is it just me or does the bone that forms the tomahawk kind of look like a 3 fingered hand holding the orb
nice to see the potential of the mudokans a becoming more aggressive towards their oppressors

how lucky i am to have munchs oddysee. I would personally prefer to use the mudarchers. Sad that they are only used in like 4 levels.
Hey bro, enjoy the videos, always been an Oddworld fan myself since I was a kid. One criticism/question however, when quoting someone do you have to do a silly voice? As its really unnecessary & I skip the quotes so I don't have to suffer that voice you make 😂
sligs:noo you cant defeat ours bombs and guns with bone gem ridded crossbow!!!
murdarchers:hehehe pew pew pew!
mudokons should have siege weapons like cataputs or Ballistas to take down companys buildings or infantry units like slig riflemen
i love ur blue abe skin
Another note is in the first two games you only have industrial muds following you and the scrubs in munch (other than the finale) don't become warriors

An Odd World Total War game would be amazing. Haha
How do you get the cut scenes of mudokons farming or fishing on the river? Do you create them yourself or do you find them?
can you review stranger and the creatures in that game too
Can they add these leveld up Mudokons to newer games plz
i dont know why you dont have more subs...
ha thank you, i don't mind though, i'm just glad people seem to enjoy the videos and like oddworld as much as I do. :)
Please release the Hand of Odd game.
ok off topic but would the Slig make the best "WUT?" emote?
Yeah I guess it probably would haha! Maybe the Mudarcher would be a more 'unimpressed' emote.
How did you change the mudokons the look like PS1 Abe?
Went into the folder for the game and changed the models around and photoshopped the textures.
:) 👍
Abe is just better
Wut
Am sad no hand of odd
:{ D
