I just watched the episode and I shit you not, it was physically painful to sit through. What a shit show, what a disaster - what fuck-you to the audience, the Jedi, and everything in-between.
I canceled Disney + a few weeks ago. The shows on Disney + are horribly written trash. It's not worth the money.
At least not a loon that watches a show because their favorite UA-cam reviewer hates it, then wonders how it has an audience. Bravo to you!

So, it's watch the parts I missed time and let me say a word about Disney and effects. D is known for mismanaging effects companies and forcing them to work in the least efficient way possible. Where did the 180M go? That's where. The effects going down in the last two eps is totally on brand for them because they work on crunch time in the worst way possible. Effects that assist sets or that have reuse are inexpensive. Effects that need to be polished beforehand and that must be redone (or worse, scrapbooked) are expensive. Guess which one D does?
Well, to be fair, they had to splurge on the budget when they bought that $200 metal detector from Radio Shack! Seriously, how much crap can one show produce?
Idk what got the critics who had early access mad about episode 3 because THIS one... this episode JUMPED THE SHARK! They revealed that the Jedi team were here to scout out... something, they didn't actually know there was AN ARTIFICIAL CONSTRUCTION BUILT ON A MOUNTAIN as they surveilled the planet. Instead, the way they found out about the coven was Sol coincidentally bumping into the twins in the forest. That's the premise that kicked off this entire story. Oh my... This is so dumb!
Thing is, modern day star wars doesn't focus on anything relevant to our lives. The. OG trilogy and even the prequels focused on relatable subject matter like religion (the force), personal growth, becoming our best self, the inner battle of light/ dark and finding meaning. it was told in such a way that was logically consistent and entertaining as hell, which is why it was so compelling. Todays SW focuses on nothing of relevance to our ordinary lives personally. It's vapid, not logically consistent and not even entertaining. There's nothing for our inner self to latch onto. It's uninspiring and doesn't even come close to capturing the essence of star wars.
Imagine making an entire show of television so bad it made being a personal assistant to Harvey Weinstein your second worst mistake...
I can't imagine Disney spending more money on a second season, when the numbers and reviews are so bad. They don't even have merch money to draw on anymore, this franchise is a sinkhole.

Enjoying the discussion as always! What's frustrating is that this could be a really good story if it were handled properly. By people who care, and who know how to write a good mystery.
What I find extra strange is how not just this show but so many others set up these "mystery boxes" but then never provide any answers. The X-Files episodes never ended with firm conclusions which I found frustrating for a while until I got used to it and understood why they did it like that. These new shows and movies for "modern audiences" are extremely far removed from that type of quality.
It's insulting when they claim they do it on purpose so the fans have something to talk about. Please.

Every single episode has issues with character motivation. Like as in reasons a character takes a certain action. Every single episode has somethings that just don't make any logical sense
My conclusion is..they dont care about making money and they are lying about how much these shows actually cost...

This episode is mind blowing!! The writers are either morons or just don’t care? How did this show get approved?
I keep finding positivity and ways to enjoy the whole story but ultimately end up confused about how the plot plays out that makes me feel indifferent and just be like well here goes another stupid episode mainly of characters and bad decisions. I understand the lore but the choices they made make me mad cuz everything can be avoided some way somehow yet it’s not. Totally not the way of the light side.
It made no sense that Mother Aniseya would gaslight Torbin into going rogue, turn into some weired sprit ready to attack the jedi when she was the one that wanted Osha to go with the jedi all aong.
It makes no sense the writer don’t care
1) They have the most flammable stone fortress in history. If 1 of your light sources coming into contact with paper is enough to burn the whole place down, it will burn down. 2) The original source of violence was Sol stabbing Mother Aniseya. It's the core of the "what happened 16 years ago". Why did he do that? I guess he freaked out about her using a weird magic he didn't recognize because he has a weird protective feeling about an 8 year old he just met? 3) The problem is that they won't let any of these characters be the bad guy... or react to this like a human being would. I can only understand a lot of this behavior through the prism of the characters being aliens or mentally unstable. 4) So let me understand, we now have this thing called a "vergence" which we've never seen before and they just left it there? 5) Torbin killed himself... why? 6) Kirol's reaction to Mae running up and saying there's something wrong was to move hostile toward Torbin... WTF?? There are so many problems....
It's a good thing nobody from the coven ever accidentally knocked over that candelabra.

Too many questions... if Sol follows Mae, Osha & Darth Maum to the witch's lair on foot (which we see him do)... why the hell is he scaling rocks? Couldn't he just take whatever path they're walking on? Nobody would be expecting him or even on the lookout.
Quimis is also a good actor and mother Anaseia is acting not too bad. The Drama is that Amandla Stenberg cannot act at all.

This has always been my biggest complaint. Not the lore. Not the story. Not the acting. Not the wastes money. My biggest complaint is that there is about a 2 hour story here that they have told in over 4 hours.
I still say 90 minutes, but that's a fine runtime for an action/adventure film.

Of course the writing is bad. but the Jedi came into. their home a tried to take their kids. so it makes sense for the witches to be protective. plus they ignored the directions of the counsel to leave the twins.

They’re trying to devalue him, just to bring down what George Lucas created. Which is disrespectful to him and fans. They wouldn’t have a story to tell without his creation. They could’ve created their own concept, keeping respect/continuity to the foundation already built.

@@DaNewWaveLee The fact that you had to ask that and then going back to your first reply says it all. Anakin is the chosen one. Luke was just his son and in his love for his son was the reason why the good that was still in him was able to come out(Going back to what Padme said before she died). If not for Vader doing what he did to Palpatine, Luke would’ve died. The prophecy still came true that Anakin would restore balance. It just happened differently than how everyone thought/a detour so to speak. Which was the beauty of George’s writing.
