  • Hey all!
    This call all started out with a customer reporting their wires a little tight.😳
    It was soon discovered that both anchors had completely let go!... Well one was the anchor, the other was the guy attachment. The home owner had a very small gate in between his home and garage making access very difficult, even with our backlot machine! She was a dirty job, but there's always a way and we gotter done!
    Lovin' this new Dragon wear arc rated Jacket!
    Now available in Canada! 💪

    Hi Aaron. Still snow on the ground too. Another nasty situation in your area. Maybe one day they will bury all those OH wires! Stay safe!

      "Still snow on the ground ....Maybe one day they will bury all those OH wires!"
      Not even half-February! We can (Northeast Maine) have snow on the ground (and frozen sewers) in April! (Sewers can't go deeper cause rock.)
      Aron says the (galvanized steel) preform "rotted off". Must be some wicked acid soil. Would be worse to put the actual wires in that muck.
      "Crossed-logs" are a classic dirt-anchor, days before premade screw-disks (and the winch to turn them). Railroad ties even better? (I have buried an old engine block to anchor a clothes-line; won't last forever but longer than me.) But of course throwing rubbish in a hole is a time-honored tradition. (Can you spell "PFAS"?)

    Is that pole on the schedule to be replaced? It was looking pretty old and tattered...

  • @Moonraker11
    @Moonraker11 4 місяці тому +4

    Were those railroad ties underground there by design? What are they used for?

      @Bobsdecline  4 місяці тому +3

      No idea why those are there! There was a whole lot of junk in that hole... I'd say by how deep the anchor head was, there was a lot of fill hauled in many years ago.

    Sometimes a job using brain power instead of manpower is welcome... as long as you have the time and the right stuff to do it!

    • @marco23p
      @marco23p 4 місяці тому

      The opposite is true too. As someone who works in the office, I really like to do some easy brainless work every now and then, such as rolling cables.
      (I'm not implying that field work generally doesn't require thinking - because obviously that's not the case)

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 4 місяці тому

      @@marco23p oh, that is absolutely true. It breaks up the day and eases the mind to switch tasks. I knew an executive type who would push away from his desk to clean windows or empty the trash, just to gain "head space" if you follow the drift here.

    When the guy wire is pulling in the same direction as all the lines coming off of it, isn't just time to put a straighter pole in, rather than "ratchet strapping" it into sort-of being straight?

    You are lucky that you got just dirt . No giant tree roots or large rocks. Here on the Westcoast there is a 100 % chance of hitting rocks or roots. You got a better chance of winning the lottery than finding dirt.

      Usually we find lots of dirt! This one was all rock and roots... Spent a several hours breaking up rocks and cutting roots. :/
