- The footage in this video was recorded during my first visit to Disney's California Adventure in August of 2001. Opening in February of 2001, many attractions you see in this video have either been re-themed or removed from the park. The on-ride footage of the coasters, as well as Superstar Limo, were previously released as their own videos. This is the first time I have put them together in one video.

Thanks for capturing the original CA. Disneyland naysayers were pissed because they wanted free entrance with annual pass and used that to ruin its reputation. That being said, Cars land was needed as the park lacked kid charm

It still blows my mind that a tacky, mundane ride like Superstar Limo co-existed with California Screamin' at some pont.
The ride was a huge mystery and confused me when I took my first ride.
I thought I was crazy having memories of California Screaming going through a Mickey loop. They have the sun graphic now. Glad to know I wasn't crazy.
I never was told why they changed it to the sun graphic. I thought it looked cool with the Mickey graphic.

It was an odd type of ride but they changed the original idea after Princess Di had died.
Believe me you did not miss much with the Superstar Limo ride.
It was definitely a head scratcher.
Kinda wish I had the chance to visit this version of the park, especially since it's now basically an IP dumping ground.
I visited the park last April and it looked nice but it definitely has a different vibe now.
Yes, the park was at it's peak from 2012 til 2017 when they decided to replace Tower of Terror to Mission Breakout. Not only did it look worse, the land of "Avengers Campus" makes no sense and doesn't feel worth having. But DCA 1.0 was fun for what it was. I especially miss the California letters, the music, and seeing the Orange + Maliboomer.
@@chrisdisney8201I still can’t believe they haven’t built the avengers e ticket ride that they have been promising us for years for avengers campus.
Also I feel like it was stupid of them to stop fixing California adventure after they finished cars land and buena vista street. They had plans to continue fixing it like one was making the pier a villains pier with a huge budget. Instead they chose to do a cheap Pixar re theme of it
It sucked. The park sucks in general and is a little better now. No one in Cali actually liked that park
@@chrisdisney82012012-2013 were great years for DCA, then they took out muppet vision 3d, then it all came tumbling down when they took out tower of terror for a ride that was destroy bugsland for even more wasted space in the end, I miss when Disney tried to bring something original, even if you could already experience these things outside the parks
I miss this…
On California Screamin’, we used to let people in front of us so we could get on a train with the music working. It really made a difference in the ride experience.
What trains were broken with the music?
I was told the green train was the one without any music.
it was really more boring at that time it was like experiencing a prototype/concept theme park
I got a Blue Sky ideas for replacements at Disney California Adventure I know this is gonna be a controversial opinion but i think closing down Muppet Vision 3-D was a big mistake because now Disneyland has no Muppets attraction but I think they should retheme the Paradise Gardens area with The Muppets The Little Mermaid attraction will stay because that is a great ride and I love it but the other attractions near it would close the Golden Zephyr will be rethemed to Pigs in Space from The Muppet Show, Jumpin Jellyfish will be Themed to Hot airballoons themed to Kermit the Frog taken from The Great Muppet Caper, Goofy's Sky School will be Rethemed to The Great Gonzo's StuntMadness and instead of a Airplanes guests will ride on the Plunger car from the Muppet Movie and the attraction takes place in The Great Gonzo's StuntShow Madness and for his 3rd act he invited you the guests on his Plunger Car the beginning of the ride you see Gonzo in his cannon being launched in the sky and then your car jumps though a Fire hoop (Which is not a fire Hoop it's just a hoop painted orange but it glows in the Dark at Night), a circular Saw, and at the end you see Gonzo on his Motorcycle in a slingshow and at the end he crashing himself and the motorcycle on the Stunt show Building and you see his cutout and his Motorcycle on the Building which is a tribute Muppet Vision 3-D and then at the end you unload from the vehicle and exit safety. The pizza place near by will be rethemed to PizzaRizzo from Disney World, and lastly The Silly Symphony Swings will be rethemed to the Electric Mayhem and will be titled The Eletric Mayhem: RockSwings my 2nd other idea is Paradise Gardens attractions like Goofy's Sky School, Golden Zephyr, Jumpin Jellyfish, and Silly Symphony Swings will be demolished for a FreeGuy Land the Land will take place in FreeCity from the Film and the main ride will take rider on a adventure through FreeCity and the attraction will use the same Ride system technology from The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida but instead of Rollercoaster vehicles its the Car that Ryan Reynolds drives in the film the land will contain the Coffee shop and Bubble Gum ice cream stand as seen from the film and the land will sell the Blue Lightsaber and Captain America Shield seen from the film also ok now my 3rd idea is The SunSet Showcase Theatre featuring Mickey's Philharmagic and Stage 17 will be demolished for a ride based on Zootopia the ride will use the same ride system technology used in Despicable Me Minion Mayhem at Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida or my other idea is Muppet Vision 3-D will come back with a new Entrance

The first time I visited the park (and SoCal) was during the Con in 2002. We took a day off and went to California Adventure. Great little park. I enjoyed it. I visited again 4 years ago and it was still the same great little park, but a different vibe (like you mentioned.) I still enjoyed myself, though. Cali Screamin is still a fun coaster. I don't remember them playing the music 4 years ago, though. They played it when I visited in 2002. By the way, did you get my email? It's been a few weeks. :)
Yep, I got your e-mail. It wasn't in my inbox though. :(. Just replied to you. Yea, this was an enjoyable park. I was kind of surprised at how different it felt when I was there last year. It was always a strange park for Disney.
Wish we ha our version of rock n roller coaster instead of monsters inc replacing limo

What camera was used if you remember or still have it? :)
I used a Sony TRV20....or maybe my Sony TRV25. Both did great jobs. I still have them both.
