Your so right about your business side of your thinking. I too right now have 11 years just learning my business. And now I'm buying all the equipment I need to be able to be a bigger company.
The guys you have working for you say a lot about the kind of contractor you are. When they're this good they could work for anyone. First class contractors know their stuff and arrange everything beforehand so their people can do great work without the headaches. Kudos!
You’re absolutely right I’ve been there and setting things up as the truck is getting hot sucks it happens but it happens more where the owners don’t listen to the guys .
My parents just bought a house in Tustin with a pretty awful driveway job (uneven, floods between street and garage because it wasn't leveled correctly) and I showed them your videos. When they have the money saved up I know they are going with you guys - the work and professionalism speaks for itself
I live in Asheville NC and work for a basement and crawlspace repair company. I'm 28 years old and am looking on starting my own handyman business in the next few years. Your videos are extremely informative and are so motivating for me! I randomly came across this channel a few months ago and it has been one of my favorites to watch. Thank you for doing these videos and I'm always looking forward to what you are going to do next.
Nice to see someone that willing to help future business owners interested in the industry. Hopefully one day I’ll need some concrete done and I’ll get these guys to take care of it. Would be a nice full circle conversation!
I grew up basically around concrete contractors. My entire family does concrete. My dad has been doing it for 30 years. Just like you he had a very successful business for 15 or so years then 2008 came and he lost nearly everything, 5 trucks, 2 trailers, 2 skid steers and our house. We lived in a trailer for 10 years and now that the economy has finally picked back up me and him have started a new business a couple years ago. I am very lucky to have learned so much from him over the years but I wish he would work smarter and use better equipment. We have a skid steer but we do a lot of jobs that sometimes are harder than they have to be. I love doing the work and it's in my blood, (4th generation) but at 21 years old my back is already hurting, and unlike most kids my age I have a company truck and pull machines and I do it all. Tearout/pour/setup and manage guys. Hopefully someday we could get some better equipment like your s70 to do the tight jobs.
Great job guys !!!! I'm working on a wind farm in Indiana right now . We concrete laborers talk shop all the time(Concrete). it's great to see Artisan concrete work look so exemplary... the work we do is high volume so we don't finish like you gents except for the 50 yrds of an 800 yrd pour in a 4 hour time. It's a different animal altogether... you gentlemen are doing a great job. Keep up the good work !!! Stay safe...

Great commentary as usual, thanks for sharing it with everyone and making it clear you earned it through hard work over time... something people of all ages continue to forget or ignore. As you said, there's things they can't teach you. I have lots of education but I knew going in they couldn't teach me so much about being in business and DOING THE WORK, or how to be motivated, etc. Cheers to you and your team

Great advice. I hired a concrete company for the current and previous houses and will need a new bid in a few years after I save some money to renovate my pool. What advice do you give in looking for a reputable company. In my last job, the concrete dried too fast and started cracking on the edges. I wasn’t happy.

Hi Anthony, great video and well said breaking down the business. I’m a gc in N county SD. You have a great business having a pump, bobcat service and a C8.
