    U.S. Navy has declared IOC or Initial Operational Capability for Boeing’s HAAWC or High-Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability.
    Its all-weather kit that will allow the P-8A maritime patrol aircraft to launch anti-submarine torpedoes from high altitudes.
    The milestone follows the award of a contract for the system to Boeing in August.
    The Naval Sea Systems Command had awarded Boeing a 25.6 million “fixed-firm-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-only, full-rate production contract for the production of High-Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability Air Launch Accessory (ALA) equipment, related engineering and hardware repair services, and other direct cost support,” as per Defense Department Aug. 19 contract announcement.
    In this video Defense Updates analyzes how HAAWC would add more teeth to US Navy’s P-8A Poseidon?

    Unlike the venerable Orion the Poseidon CANNOT fly "low and slow"!! It is a jet aircraft whose minimum speed is WAY above the deploy speed for a torpedo! This innovation makes Poseidon an ideal anti-submarine platform...replacing the Orion!...good work!

      The MK46 and MK54 have a parachute that deploys to slow them down enough to be able to enter the water, there would be no speed limit or altitude limit in it's deployment.

      @@zigbeegooblesnort125 true, but if they drop this somebitch fairly close & it starts homing as soon as it hits the water, you aren't going to out-run it... & if they go after a sub that has double hulls, that means you will have MULTIPLE torps after you... your only warning will be when it hits the water & starts pinging... 😳😳😳

    • @nunyadambusiness6902
      @nunyadambusiness6902 Рік тому +1

      @@verdebusterAP subs have countermeasures, so you will launch more than 1 torp to ensure a kill. But it will work better if they hit close to the sub & prevent any reaction time... multiple torps will ensure that you pick up on any OTHER subs close by too. They aren't going to just sit there while a torp is in the water & homing in, & once they hit top speed & cavitate, you know right where they are...
      Mark 54 range is 10k yards / 9 km & 46 MPH - you AREN'T out-running it if it hits the water within 2 miles / 3 km & it's homing on you. If more than 1 start homing on you, it's over... To even have a HOPE of out-running it, you would have to be about 5 miles away & at top speed already... That gives you about 1 mile give or take to out-range it & kill the fuel in it... & the ONLY warning you get is the splash when it hits the water or AFTER it pings you... Good luck with that... 💀⚰️🪦...
      You have to be far enough ahead to throw off the seeker head BEFORE it starts tracking, or outrun it. & some subs just don't have a top speed for that... 🤷🤷🤷... old cold war subs used by Russia, NK, & China will be dead quick... Only newer subs with speed & a good captain would live through it...
      The new Yasen class subs have an anti-torp torpedo they use... Was tested in EARLY 2000s, so it's in use now... The US needs that...

    It’s beyond time to give Ukraine everything they need to defeat Russia. Air/Sea blockade, Aircraft(offensive/defensive/and utility), helicopters, tanks, longer range artillery, layered air defence, munitions, supplies, drones, everything except nukes. The nuke option is effectively off the table for the Russians as their is the logic of mutually assured destruction.
    Both sides, east and west are actively engaged in utilizing allies equipment, no reason the west should handicap the Ukrainian’s. Give them everything, the war would be over in less that a few months.
    Russia isn’t observing the Geneva Convention nor any other normal boundaries of war and humanity. There is no reason to fear what they might do, they are already doing it. Yes they can threaten nukes but thats a beggars folly as the US, Britain, France, and Israel have more than enough deterrent nuclear forces to freeze that option.
    Ukraine should not be forced to suffer because the West is afraid of the conflict broadening.
    The Russians have already exceeded the militaristic norms and decencies of conflict. They wantonly rape, loot, kill, destroy, anything in their path to include civilians, hospitals, schools, water/heat/gas/electricity, communications, museums, and literally EVERY bit of infrastructure imaginable to include attacking nuclear power plants in an effort to inflict as much human suffering possible.
    Give Ukraine what they need and do it now, let Russia truly taste the wrath of a united world. This is the only way this conflict ends.
