Saw them live only once, Ozzfest 2005....with all the other great bands their performance still stands out in my mind, I was only 12 lol my dad bought a copy of Leviathan from a vendor that was wading through the crowd. Gonna see them with Gojira later this year, cant wait

Branns live vocals are incredible lately. Far more confident and thus in tune performance. No jitters in his voice just pure expression and massively improved control. All that while being a drummer that deserves to be on many a fans of music Mount Rushmore of best rock drummers

Thanks for saving this. I happened to see Mastodon opening for Fear Factory when they were still touring Remission. Might not be the biggest fan of everything they put out after "Once More Round the Sun" but I'm always impressed with their musical tightness live. Sadly, it's taken almost 20 years, since they started singing, to get a decent live vocal mix... And it's still a shot in the dark. I've seen plenty of shows where you see them moving lips, but there isn't anything audible. tl;dr after 7 shows, I've never heard the vocals sound this good live.
Umm.holy shit..So i just saw Mastodon for the first time last night in Philly w/ Opeth.Opeth are my favorite band and have been for 20+years but DAMN!!!!!!!!!!! Mastodon blew them off the stage and it wasnt even close..Ive been to over 2000+ shows and Mastodon might very well just be the tightest band ive ever witnessed live..Holy Fuck!! Brent Hinds might very well be the best guitarist in metal ATM!! Phenomenal solos and he made them all look effortless. Cheers everyone. This band just made my year! Now onto CT on thursday,Philly on friday and Baltimore on Saturday to see Riverside. Next tuesday is testament,Death Angel and Exodus in Philly followed by Sevendust the following wednesday.. hey!! I'm just making up for stolen time :) PS Porcupine Tree in September as well. This year is going to be epic!!
They sound the best they ever have, they used to sound awesome really early in their career as well before their voices got messed up from screaming. That being said they’re currently probably the best they’ve ever been live, all 3 members vocals have improved a lot, took some time for some of them to actually learn to sing well and not just scream like a madman, they sound great now tho and their playing is as tight as ever. Fantastic band. Anyway I highly highly recommend you check out their live in the kpit performance with Scott Kelly from neurosis, it’s amazing. They play only songs that Scott Kelly has featured on and it’s an amazing show, one of their best ever easily

Super cool...they are so great in this intimate setting ..they are great on the big stages tool, don't get me wrong...but great to see them be able to shred un hindered with the difficulties of live...for instance, the night I saw them last month the power for the whole venue fuckin started to glitch and then totally went out...was 15 or 20 mins til they rectified the situation...but they came right back in like nothing happened...what a show..!!! Them and Opeth fucking killer

Mixed for TV yeah, but not pre recorded.not only is that not their style,but you can tell pretty easily by listening to them in other live close up shows such as the aquarium acoustic performance. They sound exactly as they should for a LIVE performance. Stop it.🤣 Trust me, I know they aren't known for great vocals live, but lately they've been killing it.

It's kinda the thing. Alot of prog bands are sloppy live, but I digress, I've seen these guys a few times and vocals have never been their strong suit. That being said...these last few album cycles,they have killed it vocally and harmonic wise
