Few tips for new players. Guild Wars 2 is a sandbox game, especially in World vs. World or Open World PvP (you do not need to choose your role or something like that). You’re free to play any way you want, with no restrictions. But if you’re aiming to be a roamer, I recommend trying Thief or Mesmer, both are designed for roaming and have builds that suit different playstyles. Other classes can roam too, but in my opinion, Thief and Mesmer excel. If you only have time to invest in one profession and want to roam while also participating in group fights, such as in Zerg battles, consider Mesmer as an option. For example, if you play a Necromancer/Scourge or Engineer/Mechanist, don’t expect to survive solo roaming as easily. These classes tend to be better suited for larger fights, like Zerg play. Personally, I’ve been playing as a Rogue/FeralDruid/Thief for 20 years, that’s my playstyle since World of Warcraft. I know Guild Wars 2 can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s your first MMO. One thing to keep in mind, in WvW, enemies can see your rank when they click on you, and lower ranks often suggest lower experience. In my experience, having a lower rank makes you a more likely target.
Trust me friend... I'm a diamond Legend... and it's like having a target on your back. They want the credit for taking you out and even in a group they assume you must be the commander.
I’ve noticed in the last couple days as a new deadeye, other thieves HATE you. Will dive in a Zerg to focus you. But thanks to your vids, I’m getting better at escaping.
If you're interested, I have a video on this channel: Deadeye Perma Stealth. But there’s no need to go full berserker mode. Soon, roaming will be completely dead unless something changes. There are only a few real roamers left. The rest are just new players and ZERK players who switch to roaming. They are terrible because they play easy classes that aren’t meant for roaming. When they lose, they head to the GW2 forums to spam complaints: "I got wrecked by this," "I got wrecked by that," "Thief is terrible," "Mesmer is terrible," "Elementalist is win-trading," etc. I do not want to even talk about whispers:). /w are out of control if you are in ONLINE status. I prefer INVISIBLE. Also they link my videos on GW2 forums when thief needs to be nerfed:). Meanwhile, they play Power Mechanist with a rifle and get wrecked by anyone using auto-attacks. WvW feels pretty empty because this new grouping system is terrible. A lot of players have quit or moved to PvE because of it. I’ve been active for the last two months and played with two accounts in two different groups. Honestly, I get bored when I log into WvW, and all the maps are empty, whether it’s morning or evening. I then switch to another account to see if there’s any action. If there’s none, I log out of the game. I don’t play for rewards. Maybe if ArenaNet gave more XP or rewards specifically for roamers, we’d see more of them. I don’t know, I’m just guessing. I’m not paid to think or suggest changes, I do this as a hobby. I see maybe one or two Thieves on enemy teams per week. I can’t even remember the last time I saw a real Soulbeast or Spellbreaker roamer. My point is that the less skill you show, the more players might stick around. But I’m not sure about anything. Maybe I’m wrong, and I’d love to be wrong. Peace.
